Hi all. I'm wondering if anyone knows how to make a DesktopX object/widget activate from a key-combo press. I know with a widget you can show/hide or change z-level with a hot key set on Properties->General tab. But can it recieve a command executed message via a key-combo? How about a script waiting for a combo? Any suggestions appreciated! rr

My docks are usually the right size after a resolution change...but they are in the wrong place (beside or on top of the icons) Agree it is frustrating. I just unload and restart ObjectDock (not the perfect solution but it works).

I'll look into getting _Martin_'s permission to incorporate his script. And I'll look into how one can set a hotkey combo to activate a DesktopX object/widget. I think I'd find that useful too, and maybe others would as well (I stopped using my own THBtB myself because of these problems). Unfortunately I wouldn't even know how to approach turning that functionality into a shortcut that could be placed in Quick Launch...not saying it cou

Hotrod, Yeah, this is why I say _Martin_'s script is a better solution. The method used in THBtB is very counter-intuitive and unpredictable. I believe what is happening with your excel is it is getting a Full-Screen command. I don't have Excel, but in OpenOffice Calc the command is View->Full Screen or Ctrl-Shift-J to toggle back. And I can't say why one Show Desktop minimizes widgets and IconX and the other doesn't. Maybe it's the diff

Hmm. Hotrod, is your THBtB (The Hardest Button to Button) object trying to stay on top of a dock, widget, or the windows taskbar? If two things both want to be Always On Top in the same screen space, the most recently activated one takes precedence (Generally). I can't reproduce THBtB failing to stay on top of windows. Just tried changing appearance of DX2 Minimize All. Didn't work, as you said. Have to look into that later.<b

Heya! Thanks MountainDragon for linking my humble object! I tried to provide that link in the newsgroup discussion of this subject, but posted wrong one. I'd like to take the opportunity to say that _Martin_'s script is far superior to the System Object Type->Show Desktop method I use. The default system command sometimes gets confused as to what it is

Hi there, I am trying to create a media player object which will show a visualisation window whenever and only when music (or video) is playing. It has been very frustrating, I'm hoping someone here can give me some pointers. I tried to deconstruct Martin's object https://www.wincustomize.com/ViewSkin.aspx?SID=1&SkinID=3425&LibID=3&comments=1 but kept getting DesktopX crashing errors. And I lo

I've also looked fruitlessly for a sound scheme theme manager. I'm actually planning to try and do something about it with desktopX; but that project is in line behind others. It is surprising that no one has made such a thing already. I've only dabbled with making cursors, but I think the way to package them is to arrange all the files into a .zip archive and then rename the extension to .curxptheme. That way you can be sure the actual f

Thanks for a great article. I mainly feel empathy for Jark for two reasons. One, is the idea , the concept of deviantART is wonderful. I know matteo had much to do with this as well. I also feel he was treated shabbily and rudely by people who should be thanking him. So, it is nice to read more about the man and his character. I applaud you and Stardock for your closing statements. I think BakerStreet may be r

_martin's looks like a neat DX solution. If you use ObjectDock with SysStats you have Judge's Active Disk as another option: https://www.wincustomize.com/ViewSkin.aspx?SID=1&SkinID=4273&LibID=29&comments=1 And, I used Judge's method (with permission) in this package: https://www.wincustomize.com/ViewSkin.aspx?SID=1&SkinID=7522&LibID=29&comments=1 two of which are hard drive status monitors with disk activity indicators.

I stand corrected. I guess I wasn't looking closely enough. Although, in looking for the 21 new items I found https://www.wincustomize.com/Newest.aspx?v=1 which only lists 9 on my screen. I was only looking in my favorite galleries, I guess. My bad, sorry.

Hmm well, if you're sure you want to do this... Right Click on the Docklet, select configure. Select the meters tab. This particular docklet has a pantload of meters, but they're well labeled, so select the "X free" meter in the box on the right (where X is the drive you want to change). Click Configure on the left. In the Scale drop down, sel

This is very welcome news. I am very new to CSS, but in working on Link I found it very frustrating to be writing compliant code, which would look fine in Firefox, but when checked in IE would look odd or not work. In particular the 3-pixel jog and guillotine plagued me. In fact, the guillotine still affects some of my pages. Teaching myself, learning as I went, was made more difficult be IE6's

I just don't like the hush-hush atmosphere. After seeing this article, I followed the links for over an hour and didn't get anywhere as to what is actually going on. But, as long as folks are speculating, my journal has some links I found contrasting. Link

More than one response in this thread has been along the lines of: "If you don't have something to hide, what are you worried about?" This argument completely misses the point. Now, I don't have a problem with GMail or its policy. What I disagree with is the idea that desiring privacy = up to no good. First, there are completely legitimate business reasons a person might desire privacy. Perhaps your company is planning a b

Same trouble. I suspect it's something off with Steam though, because I haven't had the trouble with any other SysTray items. Bugs me when things like the Steam interface don't have an exit option on the main GUI pane itself and the close button only minimizes. Bad form if you ask me.

Just a quick update in case anyone ever has similar trouble and finds this thread. When using a foreground image the OutsideBorder... tags are essentially disabled, even for the background image. They do have some effect, but only as if the assigned value was added to the ...width tag. That is LeftWidth = 20, OutsideBorderLeft = 5 is no different from LeftWidth = 25. I think this is a bug, not a feature, but /shrug, whatcha gonna do

I'm new to SysStats, meaning the first version I ever tried was 2.5.4 In my experience docklet configs made for older versions do not work with the current version. They display odd behavior and usually crash objectdock, especially when you try to remove them from the dock. But, I created a few docklets from scratch and also only use other's configs which were released AFTER 2.5.4 and haven't had this trouble anymore. So, tr
