You know what I think should be put in? Some kind of stealth/cloaking ability that allows ships to bypass sensors to a certain extent. For example, if a ship enters an area that is monitored by a starbase with +3 to sensors, the ship cannot be seen until within the range of +2 sensors. Ships without sensor modules would be unable to see them at all until they were attacked, and maybe the Eyes of the Universe improvement would be unable to see cloaked ships? That would be neat for fast ships,

Yeah, that is definitely a bug.
I thought the storyline was worse... I mean, at least DL and DA had some end-game stuff to read through. TA just says, "Shard acquired, now get a move on!" or something similar. The story needs some enhancement, for sure.
Do you think that each race will get its own Ethics technology, like the Thalans, by the final release?
The new starbase looks sweet, it's too bad the others don't look like that. Nice to see the custom races again, although I think you should be able to get better stats for them than the normal bonus stats (e.g. a +50 morale could be given to your custom race at a high price, rather than the normal +30 maximum). I get that the custom races are not supposed to be as powerful in some ways, but seeing as how the main races have been greatly enhanced, I think the custom race should be as well.
If Galactic Civilizations were to mate with Battleships Forever and have an offspring, that game would own the world. Seriously, it would be like Galaxy: Total War!
Battleships Forever was interesting, but I'm surprised you've heard of it. Most people have never even heard of Game Maker (the program that game was created with), much less something created with it.
I think starbases are strong enough currently (as someone pointed out earlier, they're supposed to be protected) but I think it should take about half as many contructors to build one. Either that or be able to build modules that allow you to dock ships in the base which defend it in the event of an attack, as long as they're medium hull size or smaller.
I think the new screen will be much better, once it's finished. Right now, my main complaint is that static is the only thing used to cover up the transitions. I mean, there should be explosions that cause camera white-outs and something like power outages that shut off the camera temporarily, at least.
The planetary invasion screen crashes (CTD) for me, when I'm on the receiving end of an invasion.

I'll just add -- I crash consistently when an enemy attempts to invade one of my planets
Yeah, I have this bug too, and it's more than annoying. It's new from Beta 4, I certainly didn't have the problem with Beta 3.
This may have been suggested earlier, but I didn't read all of the above posts and don't know for sure. Planetary invasion should be much slower, not the 'click to win' deal it is currently. I think you should have to conquer a planet one improvement at a time. This would make planetary invasion both expensive and time-consuming, and invading a class 30+ would make for some really epic battles. It would also make it more strategic, such as the enemy relocating troops to defend certai
Actually, their customer service is probably second to none because they're a small, independent developer. Larger companies don't have to keep their customers as happy to succeed, and there's too many customers to do so anyway - compare this to a smaller company with fewer customers that relies more on repeat business. Obviously they're going to do what they can to keep us coming back.
Of all the mega events, the Jagged Knife one is by far my least favorite. It just... sucks. Especially when half the planets it takes are yours. Anyway, isn't it ironic that you actually have to have a stronger economy to lease something than to buy it outright? You apparently pay through the nose for that instant gratification. I hope that in the TA expansion they change that a little.
I think it would be neat to have the advanced diplomacy like several people have already mentioned, as well as the Gigantic hulled ships and carrier ships mentioned earlier. Also, maybe a new extreme colonization tech, like Extreme Temperature Colonization, which would let you colonize planets either very close or very far away from their host stars, etc. For the current TA expansion, I think the Dread Lords should also get a new tech tree (so they don't just sit at the end of it, waiting fo
Er... right. I had the DA version under GalCiv2\Mods\, not Dark Avatar\Mods\ or whatever. I think I had placed it there originally because there was no Mods folder under Dark Avatar (it needed to be created). However, everything works now, thanks!
The "hulls as jewelry" thing doesn't work correctly for me for some reason. I unzipped the mod as directed, and ran the *.bat file. For some reason, the *.bat doesn't work as it should. I was wondering if there is a way to manually copy the files and whatever else it is doing?
