You might try a blind called STRATOS. It has a dark gray scroller background with a medium bright blue scroller. Quite easy to see. And, if the blue is no good for you, you could recolor the blind so it is any color you might like (say Red, Yellow, etc.) Another that is VERY high contrast is Plastic Fantastic. Bright primary colors, easily differentiated.

I live in a state that has already made it illegal to talk on a handset or text while driving. It is unenforced, nearly unenforceable and has done nothing to stop people from doing it. I support it being illegal, it just won't do what anyone hopes it will. I was nearly sideswiped two weeks ago by a texting driver who ran a red light, have been run off the road by people yacking on a handset, etc. It's clearly a problem, I am just not sure it has a solution OTHER THAN TECHNOLOGICALLY.

I do this by using the Opacity feature. Set the Fence you want visible to 100% Opacity, the others to 0% unless moused over. Right click the Fence, select View/Opacity to do this. You have to set each Fence individually, but it works well for me.

If I understand you correctly, you want the menu choices to always be highlighted as if you were pointing at them? There isn't really an exact way to do this that I know of, depending of course on what the highlight is. The reason is that normally the menu item isn't highlighted by anything. It lays on top of the start menu graphic. When you point at the menu, it applies the graphic in the mouseover ON TOP of that. You could use fonts to add effects though to make the items stan

The question could be asked: "Why did IBM exit the PC business?" The answer is more or less the same as for HP. PCs are a low innovation, low margin business right now. IBM spun off Lenovo (now a Chinese company) in the same way that HP will spin off its PC business. Tablets are in a similar space, LOW margin, though higher innovation. Either way, this business is very different than enterprise servers, services, etc. HP, culture-wise, has never really been a consumer oriented company.

There tend to be more issues of bits being unskinned or the defaults looking out of place, but in general older skins I've tried on 7 "work." Depends on your degree of annoyance with small details being wrong I suppose. I am fairly intolerant of this, on a couple I just went ahead and updated the blind for my own use. :)
