Unless I'm missing something, we're only supposed to be able to use strategic city enchants like Inspiration once on each city, correct? If that's true, then someone forgot to tell one of my opponents: Checking in the city info screen and it shows 2 of each as well.

Just two weird things I noticed in the spiders tactical AI behavior in regards to web. Not specific to .912, though I have seen in there already. So a spider and I are fighting one on one. Why on earth does it waste a turn where it can reach me and get first attack to throw a web. It's just the one spider and my one unit. They have to close to melee and web doesn't have any affect except immobilization. When I have more than one unit in t
I can live with it being added to the build queue, it is being protected by city walls at that point. At least you can wait to build that if you desire. The real problem is the rebuild - when your city builds up to an already producing resource, and then that resource gets added to the city build and built all over again.
I can't. The reasoning doesn't make sense. So taking 25 turns and no build queue slot to bu

When a resource is next to a city and you build on it, in the case of my current game an air shard, it gets added to your city's build queue as if it were another city improvement. When a resource is not right next to your city and you build on it, it does not get added to the city's build queue. Like any city improvement, the resource must wait its turn in the build queue, thus negating a fair amount of a good start location because you're best city location may lead

Am I missing something or is it not possible to see the blood traits when you are creating a custom faction? If it's not there, probably worth adding at some point. It'd be nice to know what each race brought to the table.

I think it's beyond poor taste for people to demand wholesale changes of the game and then when the target of those demands resists to try to use his good faith and sense of honor/responsibility against him. Is gamer entitlement so extreme now that people think that the CEO of a game company should promise to consider every idea, no matter h
As an additional aside I see a lot of people agreeing with me that cities need more specialization and uniqueness while Stardock keeps saying cities need to be smaller and look more the same. Why the big disconnect?
I don't think there is any disconnect. Brad has, in various posts, mentioned parts of the Beta4 city plans. I may be wrong, but here's what I remember from the various posts on cities. &
I suspect that Stardock's idea of game balance is to remove everything that is fun. They certainly have managed to remove most of the things I found to be most fun: the Sovereign General Corrodius, the Aura of Commerce Spell, free developments early in the game, 3-move units, large armies early. Strength, Dexterity and Constitution are things I can relate to; the replacement values I have no intuitive feel for them.
So in between turns one of my units is attacked. At the start of my turn I fight the battle and win. Now my screen is positioned over the person/army that just won the battle. However the unit auto-selected to move first is frequently NOT the unit on screen. It's a unit somewhere else in the world. Except that the game, due to the battle, just moved my camera over this unit that just won the battle. So the natural inclination is to assume that this is t

The problem isn't the game. It's that I'm a moron. I installed the update the day it came out, but for some reason it didn't take and I didn't notice. You'd think the little .90 in the bottom right corner would be a give away. Anyway, re-updated and all is well. Sorry for wasting everyone's time.

There are few people owning up to excellent votes, so I will. Beta3 is excellent from the perspective that its a beta with ~5 months minimum left to go of development. There was roughly 2 months between the launch of Beta 2 and the launch of Beta 3 and the differences from initial 2 to initial 3 were massive. Now figure we have at least 2 more iterations like that to go through. There is still significant work to be done, sure, and the game needs constant feed

I also had a big with this quest, but it isn't the same, so I'll report it in it's own thread so as to not cause confusion. I did get a screen saying I received heart seeker (but then i ran into my own issue before I ever finished the arena), so I'm not getting the same issue (not saying it isn't
I don't think that increasing the tech requirement on pioneers or outposts is likely to improve anything. Partially because it only delays the problem rather than solving it, partially because you have even fewer useful buildings to compete with them at turn 40 than you do at turn 1, and partially because it would be likely to introduce a balance issue. If there was a tech required for pioneers (or they required a level 2 cit

I'd love to see outposts beefed up and made more expensive. Right now the biggest problem with having such cheap pioneers is that there's no reason not to have a few sitting in reserve to rush out and build outposts as your Sovereign clears. One side of the equation has to get more expensive, either pioneers or outposts, although it's worth pointing out that this doesn't necessarily have to be a gildar maintenance expense. There are plenty of ways to make p

Quest-sourced spells are awesome, fit with the lore, and as long as none of the core spells are only available from quests, they make quests continually interesting. Especially if there are interesting or unique spells available only from quests.

It seems to me like "decisions with consequences" are largely a function of balance. Provided the underlying systems are good, imbalance will remove consequences and good balance will reinforce them. Seeing how we're 4 to 6 months minimum from gold and still lacking at least one rumored significant overhaul (city development) as well as 8 of the 10 significant faction differentiation results we should expect things to be wildly unbalanced. Don't get me wrong
