Patiently waiting. (this would go much faster if we were on IRC, MSN or ICQ) :)

Just sent you a test build. I'll see what I can do about your request. No promises though.
A new DGM is available via automatic updates. This version should help all those who were having problems with SDS0004 errors. ver 0.66.083 date 8-26-2002 - Fixed problem with date conversion. Locale formats of d/M/yyyy were not properly handled with String date conversion. - Updated cancel code to be able to cancel download in the middle of a file (used to wait until file was completed fetched) - Added code to attemp a redownload of a file when connection fa
Offer a lower price. - WOW, didn't realize that $19.95 was so pricey. Just curious Pete. If you have downloaded a 100MB of skins, what software are they fore. Did you pay for that software? And if you think this site should be free then answer this for me. Who should pay for my time and others to code the site? or for the server it runs on? or for the shelf space for the server to be at? or for the software installed on the server? or for the bandwidth that you use
A: sds0004 error --- Working on this problem now. Should have a new build to correct this in the next couple of days. B: Why does it take so long to download (56k modem)? --- The initial game is about 41MB so depending on what speed you connect at will make a difference on how fast you can download it. C: Then when I click on the galciv button, I get an run time error 54 --- This is do to a file missing. But I suspect that you may have an older version of DGM too. But if not
Part of the problem is the month/day formatting. If your format has the day preceeding the month then that will cause problems. I'm tweaking up a few things in the code now. Maybe I will have a new build for you tomorrow.
Just curious, out of those who are having download problems, how many of you use a date format on your system other than Mondy/Day/Year?
In regards to the "Permission Failed Error 70." error. You will need to do a full install to correct this problem. You can download the lastest build of the DGM from http://www.stardock.com/products/drengin/default.asp?page=downloads In regards to the download issues. I am looking into them and do not have an answer at this time. I will let you know as soon as I do.
Another point of interest: Take WinCustomize as an example. The primary objective for WinCustomize is to provide a central repository for skins and to support the skinning community via news, message board and the libraries. Making money through Wincustomize really was not in the original plans. But once it was decided that we needed WinCustomize to bring in revenue we had to redirect some of our resources to achieve this. Now some of the resources devoted to WinCustomize is now spl
The skinning community continues to grow with the recently launched site Skinsmith.com. Skinsmith is run by the talented Mike Bryant, a.k.a. MikeB314. Skinsmith contains skins, themes, and graphics for various programs to customize your Windows desktop or PocketPC. Mike has created Skinsmith not only to show off his own work but also future colaboration projects with other skin authors. Be sure to add Skinsmith to your list of favorites!
Please do this for me. Please run drengin.exe with the /d parameter to turn on extended debugging. Then download galciv. After encountering the problem please email me the debug.err file
I've been tossing around the idea myself about adding another message board section. There are pros and cons both ways. But I think I'm tending to agree with paxx that maybe we should add some features like displaying x number at a time and doing a next/prev. And maybe a few other things as well.
Maybank, If you used a different email address when you purcahsed the Subscription then Wincustomize does not know that you have the subscription. If this is the case then you need to cross reference your WinCustomize account with your Stardock Account that you purchased the subscription with. Just go into Edit Account and chose the Cross Reference link.
But when do we get to catch our breath?
Looks like everything is back on line now.
Stardock is currently experiencing an outage due to problems with their ISP. Because of this outage many of the systems will be down (Object Desktop Network, Drengin Network, WinCustomize new accounts). We do not have an exact time frame as when the servers will be back online. But hopefully it will be soon. Sorry for the inconvience and please have patience while we sort this problem out.
Hi Frank, There should be no reason as to why the DGM is not picking up the download where it left off. But if you will run drengin.exe with the /d paramater (for debugging) and then send me the debug.err file after a retry I will look into it and see if I can find out where the problem may be.
If you are getting the magazine at multiple address it means that you have multiple accounts on wincustomize using those email addresses. So you would need to logon with that email address and then unsubscribe.
If you bought Object Desktop through the Stardock store you can go to "Edit Account" above and then click on the link to Cross Reference your Stardock Account and follow the instructions. If you purchased it elsewhere please let me know where you purchased it from so I can look into it.
Unfortunately due to all the negativity that arose from the last GUIOlympics all future GUIOlympics have been canceled.
Bakerstreet, Yes you would think that WinCustomize would be a great marketing tool and that alone would account for the expenses involved in running the site. But as feline has helped point out that is not the case. Sales through this site do not even pay for bandwidth. And dont forget about the cost of employees and hardware. Thank goodness we have a bunch of great people who volunteer their time freely to admin this site! Well what about Stardock's overall sales
Has anyone considered the fact that our servers really are busy and we need to do something about it. Yes upgrading servers would be great, but where is the money going to come from? The library sections account for about 95% of our traffic. So when we are getting into high traffic times that this the most logic area to put restrictions. Also, has anyone noticed that at night (when not as many people are on) that you don't see those messages. Or not nearly as often. Right no
My guess is that you submitted your first request, then due to time delay in the email getting to you you resubmitted your request again, sending a second email. After your second request you finally received your first request. But the link is now outdated (for the first email) because you resubmitted your request which changed the data in our system. If you wait a little bit you will probably receive a second email and that link will work.
Yes, purchasing any Stardock Product or WinCustomize product will indeed work towards changing your UserLevel to a 3, removing any download caps that are in place.
Bill Wardell? I wonder if that's Brad's long lost brother?!
