/me thinks Kenray has been peaking at Stardock's business plans.

Ok everyone, I'm going away on vacation for a couple of days. I hope that I can trust all of you to not burn down the place while I'm gone! If anyone starts to get our of line I'm gonna sick Doreen after you! On second though, you might like that, so scratch that idea. Just keep the place clean ok?!
Hey KC, You are all set. Your skins have been merged.
I think right now we are looking at holding off adding any new applications. As we have stated before we primarily only want to support the more popular applications. Part of the reasoning behind that is we want to keep the site from getting cluttered with too many applications. A new user visiting a skinning site for the first time can be quite overwhelmed if the site has too much going on. So we are trying to becarefull with that and keep the site lean. However we will p
Odd one. I am not sure exactly what the problem is but I am supsecting that it is your file name. In the file name you are using the '&' character which is used in URL's to separater parameters. So because of this the system was not able to properly interpet the name. Please try renaming your file and reupload to see what happens.
Just let me know what skins and the old account name. And you might want to drop me an email just in case I overlook this thread on my next visit.
A few...He says just a few. A few hundred that is. Ok, well maybe not quite that many but there we serveral DesktopX themes under your name that needed to be merged. Anyway, you should now be able to access all your skins that were under Paul Boyer.
There is a Cherry tree that sits in the back corner of my property and when the cherries are ripe (which happened a couple of weeks ago) the birds have a field day eating all the cherries. They love the cherries so much that it looks like the tree is being attacked as we watch the constant swarm of birds diving down into the tree, tearing off a cherry and taking off to go eat it. They plucked every last cherry off in less than two weeks time. They didn't even save one for me.
Just to throw out an interesting stat...Here are the statics for browsers used to visit WinCustomize: 1. Microsoft 95.86% 2. Other 2.17% 3. Netscape 1.97%
Sorry, right now I have disabled gif support (however it should be giving you a standard message instead of an error message). Gif's have been giving me a hard time with my resizing componenent so until I can get a better handle on that please upload only .gif and .jpg files.
Assuming he has any fingers left.
I just made a quick change that should prevent this problem from happening again...Crossing my fingers.
Can you please give exact details on the error message you are receiving? Also what are the file names of the Screenshot and Skin files that you are trying to upload?
Ok, we have had filters based on ratings implemented for quite some time but have not turned them on. So as an experiment to see how well it goes over you can now filter based on ratings. Go to your Edit Account page. You now have the option to "Show skins only with this rating or higher". This filter works across all sections. If the filtering works out well we will probably make it work on a section by section basis at a later date. Give it a try. Let us know what you thin
I've seen that problem a couple times. Its partially related to cookie problems. Changing a skin sometimes helps. If not, deleting your cookies is the next best answer.
I ran accross this little site that list favorite skin sites. Unfortunately it does not have any sites like WinCustomize, DeviantArt or SkinBase on it. Part of the reason is that you have to register your site first with there site, then people vote on it. So I decided to register WinCustomize on this site I found and see what we can do. So case your vote by clicking on this link: http://www.phantomstar.com/cgi-bin/themes/topsites.cgi?wincustomize
Ok, its agreed on that Ratings are not perfect. And its agreed on that Deleting Skins is not perfect. So as we have been working towards is Filtering based on ratings. It combines both these worlds. It may not be perfect, but I think its a pretty darn good solution.
It was just a glitch in the process while I was switching WinCustomize to a new server. Scripts were running on both servers simultaneously therefore creating the duplicates.
We have just updated portions of WinCustomize.com. All pages that resided on the server scripting.wincustomize.com have just been placed on a new server scripts.wincustomize.com. Because of this you may will need to relogon to WinCustomize.com in order for your personal settings to be updated for the cookies that reference the new server. We apologize for this inconvience but in the long run it will benefit everyone as we are upgrading to faster servers and we working on consolidating
Actually the best rating system is semi used on the Stardock WindowBlinds library. The popularity rating is based on Actual Usage of the skin!
If I read enz's response correctly, what he is suggesting is that the filtering would only be based on ratings that you have supplied. So if I rate a skin a 3 and you rate that same skin as a 8. That skin would have an overall rating of 5 or 6. Then I set my filter to only show me 4 or higher. I will not see that skin becuase I rated it a 3 which falls below my filter setting. So the filter would be based on user specific ratings and not averaged ratings.
For about the 50th time I just received the 'Fire your Boss' email...So I guess its about time I acted on it. Frogboy, your fired! Whew, now that felt good. Now I can go out and make millions!
No code changes that I'm aware of.
Paxx if your willing to create the code for user definable website skins then please go right ahead!
Why don't one of you guys create a 'Say No To XP' wallpaper or something to that effect. And upload that wallpaper!
