Aww, and here I was thinking that the Vasari really were the creators of the Snathi.

The eldar have actually pulled more wieght for the Imperium than I think most people appreciate. I mean, Armageddon? Eldar. The destruction of hive fleet Kraken? All eldar, especially after the inquisitor who suggested that Behemoth wasn't the only Hive Fleet was exiled. Eye of Terror? Cadians, with a hint of Ulthwe thrown in for flavor.
OK thanks. I had assumed that the first campaign would depend on which races/factions you intend to release first?
Definately,
Plot ideas are good."In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only war."All the plot you can ever need right there.
Very true. Which is why I like to think that the Tyranids have the purest motives out of any faction. Here's a scenario: a fleet fighting in a star system gets stranded when a warp entity fries the brains of all of its astropaths. The fleet has to fight tooth and nail through enemy forces so it can link up with an allied fleet (either anothe
I'm pretty sure I'd be useless programmin wise, but I like to think that i know the stories and politics of the 40k universe pretty well. If you guys need any help cooking up a plot for something, I'd be more htan happy to help.
Same. BLOOD FOR TEH BLOOD GOD!
As long as ascension is somewhat less dysfunctional, I'd be perfectly happy with the game as it is if the next beta update was a plate of mud. Thanks, SD!
Try it out, and as for comparing space games to world war 2....no...
Would you rather I compare it to a Greek phalanx or a Spanish tercio? Sorry, just being antagonistic. I actually think that this game is a bit like chess. You move, then they move. Wash, rinse, repeat. When your bishops (fleets) hit their forces, the fireworks begin. Vinraith makes a good point in that it sacrifices some of the 4X depth of GalCiv and some of the RTS depth of, say, Age of Emp
Agreed. Plenty excellent point. up there. However, I do think that the Warhammer world is not too bad in terms of technology level. The races that have gunpowder (empire, dwarfs) are effectively countered by the alternatives fielded by other races (most notably skaven warpstone weapons). True, if there are going to be user-defined races that might be difficult to implement, but it might be worth htinking about.
Space hippies with psychic powers and charged particle beams. I would argue that that is a recipe for pwn3ge.
For WWII aircraft, who could shoot at full rate of fire when moving
Firstly, I defy you to effectively maintain a WWII fighter's maximum rate of fire in a combat situation WITHOUT it being moving. ;) This is a grand strategy game, where strategy matters far more than tactics. The decision of what each individual ship is supposed to do is far less important then the decisions of where to send said ships. It's all about application of your forces, efficiently ded
Well, I just dived right in without trying the demo, and I'm loving the game. One warning though: it plays kind of slow. Though, if you're a GalCiv player like me, seeing your ships move around in real time is like watching hummingbirds. But that's not the point. If you have A LOT of patience to just wait and see how things play out, this is a game that you will love.
I'm going to make an @$$ of myself and actually try to discuss the physiology of the vasari. Bear with me here, guys :CONGRAT: I think the reason they have those oh-so-overly jointed legs is because they were, at some point in time, flightless avians. That kind of zigzag leg structure probably meant that they relied on long-distance running over a flat, plains-dominated homeworld. As for the consumption, I'd probably bet that those layers of chitin on their faces conceal some kind of
^Words of wisdom^
All this bickering over a glorified spreadsheet? Sounds like the time Honduras and El Salvador had a war over a world cup game. Seriously, people, the chart has its virtues. It's presented in a way that lets the average plebian n00b (me) easily compare differant ships. And, when it comes down to it, that's what the chart is doing...comparing all TEC, Advent, and Vasari ships. Providing an exact calculation of each ship's combat prowess is not its purpose. However, OP, there ar
If you are a master micromanager when it comes to battles, being able to designate new targets at the drop of a hat, then fighters and bombers may be slightly less cost effective. However, if you need to leave ships to their own devices, I think that strike craft are more effective. If you take a few seconds to leave the carriers at the edge of the gravity well, the fighters/bombers become VERY dificult to deal with. Bombers will absolutely devour any capital ship without fighter cover, thus p
Wait, sorry...misread original post. Perhaps I should start breathing regularly. Yeah, it's probably just some sort of passive bonus.
This may be a bit like asking you if you breathe regularly, but...did you explore the 'roid once you had conquered it? I had a similar problem the first time I got the "another empire has found a powerful artifact" prompt.
...As for the Hisenhorn comment, I half agree, Hisenhorn books were better, but the ravenor character I think is better..
Agreed.
First thing I have to say about EVE: Best graphics. Ever. I have never seen a game that is more...is beautiful strong enough a word? The guys who did the Cistne Chapel's ceiling and the Alhambra have NOTHING on whoever's drawing those ships for CCP. I sometimes watch the trinity trailer just for the graphics. That said, a fifteen-year-old kid juggling three AP classes hardly can devote time to breathing twnety for hours a day, let alone playing a game as deep and complex as EVE online.
A mind without purpose will walk in dark places
Hmm, I've always been more of an Eisenhorn guy myself. Anyway, the middle path is the way to go. Instant terraforming is REALLY useful, neutrality learning centers are da bomb, and the ground invasion bonus actually makes a difference. http://celerisdrive.com/zarel/alignments.jpg
If you've ever seen the "star wars technical commentaries" website, they have lists of all of the imperial ships ever seen in ANY accepted star wars canon. That might be worth checking out. In particular, the super-duper star destroyer "Eclipse" is worth looking at.
I wasn't being sarcastic; I find it offensive how people are taking this as a joke.
HAHAHA!! You're too funny! You almost sound serious...! Please, in the name of all things decent, tell me you're not serious... Anyway, I was playing a game yesterday vs some advent, and the bastards phase jumped! Seriously, if you're going to be an a$$hole and not stay in realspace like a decent human being, you obviously are a horrible person.
One thing that Stardock and Ironclad seriously needs to address is the concept of people. People are too good at this game. Being able to learn, intuit and adapt makes for any number of blatant game imbalances. Seriously, Blair, Kryo or whoever is reading this, presence of homo sapiens = flawed game. I mean, DUH!
Ship spamming is one of the most sensitive issues on the forums. It has created a deep rift between those that condone it as n00bish and lame and those who call it just another trick of the tactical trade. Previous posts regarding this volatile topic have almost immediately degenerated into flame-filled rants between players. This post is an attempt to be able to have that debate, but have it in a way where reasonable, coherent ideas actually get through. I'll go first: My mul
Even though its tactical value may be in question, simply watching the Raze Planet ability of the Marza is cool enough to justify its existence.
