Please visit the site www.impulsedriven.com Download and install IMPULSE, stardock's new distribution system (you'll need it anyway to get all future updates, might as well install it now). Once impulse is installed, load it and hit the "registrations" button at the upper-right of the screen. thanks, the Monk
Thanks for all the help! (For the record, if anyone else is reading this, he finished up helping me out in the game lobby).
Yeah one minute more in the lobby and we'd have been on my TeamSpeak.....hehe You could assign the same static IP to both the wired and wireless adapter in your notebook, and just make sure that one or the other is always DISABLED. I've done this sort of thing before when traffic-forwarding to two different adapters (alb

Then you double-click on the added player-name and you'll be in the ICO lobby. You'll be able to join all games that are hosted by people set up to host. By that I mean, until patch 1.1 comes out (with NAT-traversal type netcode) you'll need to follow the steps in my guide "Networking and SINS" in order to HOST games. My guide can be found linked-to right under the GREEN writing in the OP of [link="https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/174313"]this thread[/link]. th
A reputable retailer like Electronic Boutique would not sell a used copy of a game as new.
EB - reputable? Ok seriously, In my own experience with them they've proven themselves as some of the worst offenders (ie. staff/people opening games using serials and resealing) In any case, you should be taking this up with EB now. Since the devs have verified that your serial has in fact been used before. Print out the emails you have with SD and sho

@ Ghalius, I absolutely understand what your issue is, and that is why I included the "double-NAT scenario" in my guide and have talked serveral people through the steps via my TeamSpeak server. In my previous reply you are in the number 2 situation:
In practice: Modem (NAT protected) --->forwarded ports---> Netgear Router --->automatically allows all traffic---> PC (and other devices)
There is a fundamental difference

@ Ghalius, You should have read the entire guide, not just scrolled down for the ports..hehe ;p (which btw, are TCP only....and only 6000 for ICO and 6112 for the game....the 6001 most definately didn't come from my guide....lol) 1. If you're truly running your Netgear router as a "switch-only" at them moment (ie. in bridge mode) then you shouldn't be forwarding the ports to your netgear, you should be forwarding them directly to your PC's IP. 2. If your netg

By the looks of your trace, IC/SD might want to look into the routes to ICO as defined by cogentco. Seems like these routes might be causing problems for others as well. the Monk

@KingBingo, Then you must not have been reading the correct guide of mine.. :) The guide "Networking for the Gamer" I wrote back in '07 and contains generic information which is helpful to all gamers. The guide "Networking and SINS" which I wrote Feb 14th/08 contains step-by-step instructions, which aren't difficult to understand or follow. Having said that, I've always made myself available to this community to talk people (via my TS server) stil

1. When you're trying to LAN-play, you don't go to "IronClad Online" in the game instead you use "Multiplayer". If you did that and it still wouldn't connect then simply put, you mis-configured your network while at your friends house. 2. Now that you're back home and seemingly being d/c'd from ICO I would check your connection between yourself and ICO. Please follow these instructions which I posted to another thread.......here's quoting myself from the other thread:

Since the CPU is the single most taxed piece of hardware when playing SINS it's more than likely that late-game (with hundreds of calculations per second etc.) CPU-lag is causing your desync rather than network latency. Having said that, please ensure you're running game version 1.05 the Monk

dwood, 1. Please make sure you're using my SINS-specific guide ("Networking and SINS") linked-to under the GREEN writing at the top of this thread. 2. From the sounds of it, it looks like you're in a "double-NAT" situation (as described in my guide). I've talked several people through the proper setup who were in a "double-NAT" situation (where their cable/dsl modem is also setup to function as a router) with 100% success. As long as your ISP isn't blocking/f
bollerboller, read my posts where "THE MAN" the monk gives me advise as what to try.I did exactly as he said and was playing the game in no time. Could it be that your driver may have been allowing you to choose "unsupported" resolutions before and maybe now got updated to disallow said resolutions?

A latency between 130 and 250 might be too high for ICO to "see" you as logged-in? Now that you've got the data (and it seems like your connection is fine on your end) I'd suggest contacting [email protected] in order to find out if there is anything they can tell you. Their server may have a shorter "timeout". BTW, the "latency" reported on the player-tab while connected to ICO is wildly inaccurate (in my experience). thanks, the Monk

Tankdogg26, Sometimes uninstalling the video driver completely helps in clearing out "old" driver data. something to try: 1. go to "add/remove programs" and uninstall your video driver. 2. go to "device manager" and actually uninstall your video card. 3. reboot the machine, wait for it to "detect" your video card, then re-install the latest ATI drivers. Then reboot again. Something else. I help out in several flight-sim commu

Try performing a "trace" to ICO from your location. At the command-prompt, type "tracert" and the IP of ICO (I haven't played the game in a while but I seem to remember this as ICO's IP) 38.98.152.153. To open the command-prompt, go to START >> RUN >> cmd (enter "cmd" in the RUN box) and hit enter. eg. c:\tracert 38.98.152.153 (it doesn't matter if your "prompt" isn't at the same location as in my example, the "tracert" command is covered by th
