1. Sure there have been some people with "de-sync" however the later patches solved this issue for most people. Since SINS traffic is P2P it is quite possible (and in many cases probable) that certain ISP's may be "filtering" your traffic. 2. It's P2P using TCP and therefore requires "connection-state" unlike the "online shooters" you were referencing earlier. This "connection-state" can be easily broken by ISP's filtering traffic. 3. Either party can save an

To install all newer game versions past v1.05 you'll need to install IMPULSE (stardock's new digital distribution system). 1. Go to www.impulsedriven.com 2. Install IMPULSE 3. Click the blue ORB at the upper left, and under preferences make sure you've got it set to dispaly "pre-release versions/patches". 4. Update your game to 1.1 BETA (v1.09) Before you ask. That is the only way of getting the patch. thanks, <

In every version of windows.....hitting Alt-Enter will switch between "windowed" and "full-screen" modes. I believe you can also set this setting in the "user.setting" file for SINS. the Monk

Lord Firefox, well no need to be "irked" anymore..... ;p 1. Install version 1.05 via Impulse 2. Copy the install folder to another location. 3. Then patch to version 1.1 BETA. Now you can run either version as you wish. the Monk
how fo you request missions and supplies from allies?
As far as I know, you don't.

Yes since release the patches have added some more speed options. But if you're looking to play a game in under an hour, you should head online and get ready to be "rushed" in the first 20min...hehe

Since 1.1 is still in BETA I would very much doubt if any modders out there would even bother to re-do their mods for it until it is out of beta. The only way to know for sure, is to check both the "modding" and "beta feedback" sections of this forum. :)

Onion-n, In another thread you mentioned that you use an old IDE HD which ("makes all sorts of noises as it read/writes etc..") for your pagefile. [link="https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/320056"]thread in which you reference your squealing IDE drive[/link] This is a very bad idea. I would get rid of that failing HD immediately. I'm sure you'd be surprised at how many of your problems would go into the trash along with that dyi

Planets in SINS aren't something to be held onto too tightly. What I mean is, use planets for strategic reasons, but when those 200+ enemies phase-in.....get the hell outta dodge! :p Then, when they're bombarding your planet and have almost killed every last person on your planet (people are the "fly-tape" in SINS...hehe) you come back with 3 fleets from three directions.....ooo I can tast the sweetness. :) Since SINS is geared so much at "mobility", static

Bksabath, You don't need that utility. That is a utility I use to run/restart etc. all of the various dedicated servers I run for games like COD4, Vegas2, TF2, WiC etc. SINS doesn't work client-server, SINS is purely P2P which means - no dedicated server. All you need is the guide under the GREEN writing in my OP at the top of the page. "Networking and SINS" - (follow those steps and you'll be able to host SINS version 1.05) You coul

Since probably most of the "lag" in SINS isn't actually network-related but CPU-lag instead, I don't see how it would work to efficiently filter out those with much lower system specs than your own. thanks, the Monk
Um... it's not? There's nothing there?Edit: Nevermind, I found the patch elsewhere. But thanks anyway.
Anything after patch 1.05 will not be "found elsewhere" so you'll have to install IMPULSE (www.impulsedriven.com) and familiarize yourself with it. thanks, the Monk

psychoak, I wasn't talking about aid capacity I was talking about aid motivation. Two very different things as I posted above. If you're going to respond to my posts I would appreciate them not being taken out of context. :) A tiny example of my point as above.... My wife had a problem passing a certain level in a game she loves. After watching her struggling with said level for days on end and wanting to support my wife in every way, I edited a

Please note: because SINS is entirely P2P, the host is more a "host" in name only. Everyone involved in a SINS MP game, runs the ENTIRE simulation locally and the host only SYNCS everyone together. This means, CPU-lag is a larger detractor than network latency for MP games in SINS. Having said that, please update to SINS version 1.09 (1.1 BETA) as there are some significant networking enhancements and try playing the same sort of game again. If nothing else, it'll

As much as I probably should stay out of this discussion (Having 3 kids has made me not the most patient man in the matter of discussion) I do have something to re-post from a post of mine on the "political machine" forums as it deals directly with the topic of "national perception" which I believe to be an underlying current in this and every political thread. As nations of this earth we should be focused on "helping" and not "policing" one another. As with siblings, an olde

Many of us, including myself run SINS fine on all sorts of flat-panel screens. :) 1. You didn't say whether you simply tried changing the resolution at the desktop-level or whether you tried changing it in-game? 2. Please make sure you're running the latest video drivers for your specific video card. 3. Try running the game in "windowed mode". 4. Try un-installing your "monitor" in the device manager, re-booting and re-detecting your scre

Obviously we need more information from you in order to even begin helping you... ;p 1. What version of the game are you running? 2. What O/S are you both running? 3. Are your PC's closely matched in hardware specs or is there a rather large discrepency? 4. What if any security software did you have enabled/disabled during this LAN-game? Since the DEVS are aware of a "desync" issue with LAN/MP games please help them out in finding
I have a problem installing impulse for some reason. I still use stardock central
Astax, As far as I know, the patches will only be available via Impulse?
