I agree with the OP, and by the looks at the beta version 1.1 changelog some of those issues might not be too big of a stretch for a future patch? Here's hoping.... :D
Hey I figured out a different way to fix the problem and just letting people know who may also have the same problem was I just reset my router *holding down the reset button for 10 seconds* then went back in redid everything was quick and simple but i'll check for my IP next thanks
When you "reset" your router, it would have also reset the router's internal DCHP server (which assigns IP addresses on your network) thereby giving you back the original IP you had forwa

Since SINS is P2P (which means everyone runs the entire simulation locally and the HOST only SYNCs all players together) I can assume the answer to your question to be "no". The new optional netcode for version 1.1 isn't there to change the overall structure but rather make the game's netcode more "NAT-forgiving" (if I can invent a way to describe it :) ) the Monk

Did you happen to leave the demo installed and just install the game over top? Sounds like a re-install might fix your issue. EDIT: wow spiral......seconds apart! ;p

You make sure that all of the device drivers for your hardware (sound, video, mainboard etc.) are all up-to-date. Also make sure you've got the latest game version (1.05)

SINS is pretty much a single-core game. An additional core will only be used to pre-cache textures, after that everything runs on a single core. I would say one should have at least 2GB of RAM (which you have) for SINS I doubt setting core-affinity for SINS would be of much help. Late-game SINS is simply put "a beast" so no shock there about bringing things to a crawl. A 256MB video card may be having trouble with some of the better/larger textures in-game so ye

Hack78, Believe me, itsmevic has my guide.....he even registered on our clan forums. Check his post history....two identical posts, almost a month apart. I smell troll... As far as playing a game with me? ;) I'll be playing a few over this coming weekend (these will be my first 1.05 games.....so go easy on me if you see me...hehe) the Monk

Your PC's IP is probably being assigned using DHCP which means it can (and from the sounds of it probably) has changed. Please verify your IP and then make the correction in your router's "port forwarding" section. thanks, the Monk

Zakain, Please download/read and follow the steps in my guide "Networking and SINS" which can be found linked-to right under the GREEN writing in the OP of [link="https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/174313"]this thread[/link]. Please make sure the file-date on the guide is Feb 14th/08 as that is my SINS-specific guide. (I wrote another more "generic" guide back in Sept /07 which isn't SINS-specific) If you have issues following the step-by-step in my guide I'll be gl

1. Yes you will need to have a 3rd copy of the game in order to comply with the 2-seat license policy. Also, a 1GB LAN isn't necessary as even a 1MBit internet connection is more than capable of handling the traffic for 10-player game, it's the CPU-lag that brings bigger late-games to their knees. SINS's only uses a "second-core" for texture pre-caching, after that it all happens on one core. Make sure your systems have powerful CPU's and at least 2GB of RAM for late-g
the_Monk, When do you actually get to play the game?
Unfortunately I haven't had a lot of time to play it lately between work, wife, kids and helping out on various forums (not necessarily in that order... :p )

Why is it that people think posting the SAME thing twice will net them a more agreeable answer? itsmevic, you posted the same complaint almost a month ago [link="https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/315190"]here[/link] , got an answer and instead of replying there you start another thread with the same sort of complaint. :NOTSURE: the Monk

At various times of the day or night there will be more or less players online (in ICO). 1. Once a game is started, it and the players in it are removed from the list in ICO (this was added in a patch as leaving the games listed and the players shown in ICO was too confusiong for new players) 2. If people have configured their networks properly then when they host a game, people will be able to join. As of right now there are two types of people who can't host games. T

Lord_Dark_Cloud, Some firmware on some routers will have issues with forwarding what it sees as the same ports (eventhough they will be different protocols) to the same PC on two seperate lines. Having said that, you shouldn't have to forward anything on your router in order to LAN-play with your wife. Did you both check the "LAN" check-mark in the upper-right of the "multiplayer lobby"? Then in the "Sever/Host" line put the local IP address of your wife'
