This is actually exactly right. Points to AresIV!
So basically....only people who host games on ICO should buy the DLC and all others should just wait for a DLC game to be hosted? Not that I'm complaining, but I'm thinking most ICO people have absolutely no reason to get the DLC now since the same people host over and over again and most MP guys don't mess around with SP.... As for the pictures, I'm ta

$5 for a DLC is a pretty typical price point, I don't think that's too much to ask... The content being offered by the DLC, from what I can tell, includes: 4 new planets...which could potentially include 4 new planet types that would allow modders to do more interesting things with colonization and population techs...sure, mods have had new planets for a long time, but the new planet types (if that's what's added) would be a va
Don't know about the first two errors at all.... As for the other ones, they are most likely problems with the base game...not uncommon when on multi-star maps to get those errors as you zoom in and out.....unless they seem to be causing problems, I would ignore them as they are beyond your control...
Yeah..........I don't see SD doing that....

I'll take your smart remark to mean that random maps won't make use of the new planet types...that can't be right though, since that would also severely slant the SP crowd, so I'll pin my hopes on the idea that you meant competitive random maps won't make use of the new planet types... And if those are the maps that MP people play on, then I see absolutely no reason for any competitive MP player to get this DLC... Even from an SP perspect
You haven't really answered the question, Zombie... If the DLC adds new planet types, then presumably some maps will have those planets...and if you want to play a game on a map that contains those planets, how do you do that with someone who doesn't own the DLC? If that forces MP to run on maps that don't make use of the new planet types, then why would the MP community even bother with the DLC?
That's right guys, you heard RiddleMooLight....lead with akkan, don't lead with marza....

Will the icons and pictures of the original planet types be updated or left as is? Also, is the polar pinching a consequence of increasing the texture resolution or is that going to change?

Whenever an article compares missing WMDs in Iraq to the Big Bang theory, it's hard to take it seriously...
It could be via an expansion or DLC but somehow I doubt that...DLC doesn't seem like a route that SD would take (though things could always change) and it has been stated by a dev that the design of the game is not conducive to releasing DLC (though I have no idea why that is)...if it were an expansion, I have a feeling it would be adding a lot more than just 2 planet types and a new shadow system, not to mention we'd probably see more press/info than this... A lot of skilled players, respected forum warriors, and members of the old guard have pushed or been pushing for a reduction to the base damage of Vasari bombers...IIRC the first person I saw bring it up was Darvin waaaay back in the day, and it wouldn't surprise me if someone else brought it up before him... Of all the balance issues in sins, this is one of the oldest and most pervasive...it also is one that has some of the strongest consensus...I really don't think
I won't repost the link but in a previous W8 thread I linked to an article about a pretty comprehensive survey in regards to peoples thoughts on W8.... The best case I've seen for 3D is in space exploration....3D printers would allow a crew to create tools or parts as needed as opposed to having full sets and multiple spare parts... Sure, it's expensive, but so is everything when we're talking about space travel...of course you can't build everything with a 3D printer but the potential advantages as far as saving space or independence from supply chains is hard to ignore...
"Domina spam" isn't going to work nearly as well as hoshiko spam...dominas come a little too late (tier 6 vs. dem bots at tier 5) and even if they didn't, they don't have near the survivability that hoshikos do... I am going to /sign that statement, as others have and will certainly continue to do so... The Vasari vs. Advent matchup relative to the Vasari vs. TEC matchup is likely to be the single greatest balance issue after this patch, and it will be almost entirely because of phase missiles...as has been mentioned countless times, the base damage of Vasari bombers is too high...not only is this because they wield PMs, but also because in general higher HP units should have less DPS per fleet
