ZOOMERS, this is not intended to start a fight with you, but I honestly find this post kind of strange. When I booted Pawelo from a game months ago because he is on my ban list and he's a guy who boots and trash talks newbs, you called me an idiot (among other things) and left my game in protest. I also witnessed you either booting another player, or taking the place of a player who got booted so you could play, so you yourself made it on my ban list (a shame, because unbeknownst

Built a Kostura in an MP game. Told it to fire. It rotated around, aimed, and then sat there in "waiting to fire mode" forever. After a couple of minutes, I tried to hit the "stop" button to stop the command, but that didn't work. Furthermore, the "fire" icon disappeared. There was really nothing I could do with the thing. I couldn't stop it from trying to fire, and I couldn't fire it at anything else because the fire icon disappeared. A lot of cred

You don't need Entrenchment to patch up your game. So go ahead and download the patches and upgrades. You can buy Entrenchment whenever you want, but patching and upgrading your game is a separate issue. Go ahead and patch and upgrade - the early versions of the game were awful.

What's bothering you? Are you playing single player? If so, you will rarely see mines, and if you do you can just avoid them. If you are playing MP, you will still rarely see a player using mines. There are a few vasari players who will use subverters on you to shut down your fleet, then drop mines on your ships. Are you running into that problem?
I'm starting to believe an end-game Vasari is literally unbeatable, between subverters, kosturas, phase stabilizers, and mine-spam...
Well they have extremely nice toys - yes. The problem is micromanaging all of them. I think vasari is more micro-intensive than advent. Subverters are useless unless micro'd. Same with mine spam and everything else.

After that, try a vasari game. Do basic things the same (2 mil labs, extractors, capship, colony frig, blah blah). But this time research starbase right away. As soon as the research is done and funds are ready, send a colony frig to the enemy homeworld and drop a starbase (you might have to build an extra colony frig and have it on hand if the other one you sent to the roid can't make it back in time). Send your capship to his homeworld too, of course. You h

Replay the game. And, as Kyle Reese said to Sarah Connor in The Terminator, "Do what I say! Do exactly what I say! Don't make a move unless I say! Don't make a sound unless I say! Do you understand? DO YOU UNDERSTAND?!?!" 1) TURN OFF PIRATES, because they won't help you get better at playing the game (they really won't) - in fact they will hinder your development as a player. Unless you just plan to play single player free for all type games,

This is an incredibly easy win for you. I suck when compared with most people who play online, but I can win this easily with the AI set to unfair. The first thing you should build is your capship factory. Queue up your first capship as soon as you start building it. My first advice is not to build the akkan on this map. Akkan is good for colonizing. Thing is, this is not a big enough map to justify the colonizing cap. You can just send a colony

The enviros blocked nuclear in the US decades ago. They shot themselves and the environment in the foot with that one. How much more oil did we have to suck up out of the ground (fighting wars to do it), how many more mountaintops did we have to destroy to get at the coal underneath, how much wildlife was destroyed, how much habitat obliterated (check out the oil sands in Canada) just because a bunch of assholes blocked nuclear power, and in the process screwed over the very thing

Finally got to try the new patch and get a few games in. It seems like uber lrm spam is alive and well. Interestingly, I didn't see any Advent players (I wonder why? LOL), and that's ALL I saw last patch. Oh well, I guess we just have to accept and live with lrm spam.

Got a few games in today on the new patch (Entrenchment). Got an egg to level 6, and had it accompanied by a desolator. The egg had suck planet set to autocast, and the desolator had siege platorms set to autocast. I'd send them into a planet, they'd start bombarding, but neither one would autocast. I had to manually suck planet and drop siege platforms. Don't know why. Anyone else seen this?
Further more it is counter-intiative to have assualt cruisers the only cruisers to have light armour when the rest have heavy.
Well all I can say to that is, if my subverters have heavy armor, it's some really crappy heavy armor, because they die to one pass of a fighter squadron.
What we want to avoid is the situation where players hire the pirates to attack an enemy and they merely serve as XP fodder for the target player.
This sounds like an easy enough situation to rectify to me. Just eliminate (or severely reduce) experience from killing pirates. Problem solved.

It's just been one of those rallying cries by some ever since the game released. I don't care about pirates because I don't want to play against the AI. I guess it's an SP t

The problem with scouts was that, with dedicated scout spammers, it killed any ability to tech up. If you never saw a game where it was basically impossible to tech up because of scout spam, you didn't play enough games.
