once you get a bit more experience, guitarxe, you'll probably find that online games last between 15-30 minutes, on average. A very close game with skilled playes can last 45 minutes. More than that and you are just farming AI and left the game on while you went for a beer ^^ My biggest gripe so far is that Impulse friends aren't automatically imported to the ingame friendlist

well, you can always do it for the glory :) 2 vs 4 experienced and two win is something to be happy about
On counting Custom Games for purposes of Stats: They should not be counted. But if you don't count them then you need a happy medium between Skirmish and Custom where players can still make teams and choose maps and all other options are default. If one then the other. Otherwise you get no ranked clan play If you can't bring "Ladder" settings in any time soon then keep Custom games and just have games *started* against AI count for 0 rank and 0 favor.
- Does the exp gain from killing creeps make a difference once you're level 5+? I ask because I usually fail to notice my creeps really accomplishing anything, they die pretty fast and hardly do any damage, and sometimes do more bad than good on my side depending on what abilities my enemy has. I want to upgrade and get monks, angels and the dino catapults, but I don't want to be giving my enemy a huge experience boost either.
It's a good question. Grunts higher
Virid, I'd like to test a General build against you some time. Just to warn you - I do stack my minions in some cases ^^ I'll be on this weekend during the morning (EST USA) if you are around If I can get a friend to play maybe you and Cer would want to have a Generals match :)
I agree with a comment on that thread saying the first priest idol works well for a starting General. Those guys heal around ~350 or so, and there's not much AoE going around in the starting levels to pose too much danger to them.
And as a minor exploit you can sell the idol back once you have the priests - gives you 700 gold to buy pots and ports - you rarely lose the priests before level 5 and by that point you can buy something better if you want it edit: inc
so guys, I'm not going to post my full build here, but I'd be happy to Oakduel all and any Saturday or Sunday morning (EST USA) to test this out a bit more. :) Since we are talking about solo Assassin rather than team builds duels would show what works pretty well... A few teasers - Penitence is a great fight beginner and fight ender. Its most important characteristic in team games though, is the instant interrupt. - Shield is the best defensi
Having replaceable units die quickly doesn't qualify as a risk, imo, because all you lose is the (short) cooldown time and the mana. You can afford 15 seconds at your crystal. There are no gold or xp penalties in losing minions. Outside of initial outlay, mana cost, and cooldown there's no risk in a traditional minion build as long as you can survive long enough to raise another batch. Now that we have effective minions that's actually a problem - Generals can sit ba
Hey Monk - I read your guide - very helpful, thanks. I noticed that you aren't a fan of cable modem + router setups what with the double NAT. Can you recommend an all-in-one cable/wired/wireless router? I need the wireless for other PCs, even though mine is wired into the router. Thanks
How do you know if you have the latest version? Within Impulse, on the My Games tab, Demigod shows as v1.00. What should this read if I have the latest? Within the game, on the main screen in the lower-right corner, it shows "Version Number BG MAIN.1.00.0091". What should this read if I have the latest? Thanks.
My understanding is that Impulse will show v1.0 regardless - but if you need an update it will prompt you for it. The a

Depending on who you play you will want at least one point in Foul Grasp for the interrupts. Melee DGs need interrupts to survive against channel nukes.
You do get gold from killing portal grunts like minos, priests, catas, angels, and giants. You do not get gold from killing a General's minions. I know in previous builds you also got gold for destroying buildings, but that might have been removed since I don't see it in the manual?
Into release I'm gonna have to go with Generals - I'd say Oak or Sedna are most OP right now - especially with minion stacking. A DPS Oak with 3 levels of priest minions can go toe-to-toe with a DPS UB and walk out with full health (!). Alternatively he can get 3 levels of siege and walk out with half health but it only takes a couple seconds to kill his target. With 6 siege and 6 priests a level 10 Oak can take down one entire *side* of your base fortification on Prison in
some things to keep in mind for those DoTA players who are just starting the game this week - - take some time to play the game. Don't play the single player or against AI or a few games and then say the game has no depth or balance. You know how annoying it is when some punk comes in and says DoTA is imba and lame and only 5 heroes are any good? Try not to come in cold and say the equivalent about Demigod until you've beaten someone who knows how to play, than
Assaulting towers at levels under 10 or so is a quick way to spend 30 seconds figuring out what I did wrong...
It's possible to wreck a tower solo at level 5 or so but unless you are playing a General I wouldn't recommend it ^^
There are areas I'd like to see further developed (dynamic maps, etc) but for the most part I see this game as a total winner. The more that I play the deeper play seems to get. I see things every time I play that surprise me, and I've been playing for six months. If you are coming over from DoTA or are new to the genre, I encourage you to take the game on its own merits - once you have exhausted optimal multiplayer builds for a given DG you should start to explore h
I show v1.0 as well. I have the impression that I have to register the game with Impulse by entering the Serial # from the original e-mail (back in September 08?). Once the game is registered I will have access to the day 0 update. I would have thought Impulse would have saved my serial from Beta, but if I do need to take this step can I get some confirm? Otherwise I'll try this when I get back home from work.
Speaking of fixing stuff, didn't they fix Rook's hammer slam at one point to be centered on the ground and not the target? So that you could actually escape? I've gotten hammer slammed a few times so far, and each time the impact looked centered on my retreating Demigod and it definitely hurt like it.
I'll trade you ;P The hammerslam is ground-targeted, but the point of impact is the hammer - so if you are close to Rook and he goes up for the slam and
