Just to get this train back on track - thread isn't about the Beta process. Stick to reviewing the game - one review per customer, and if you see something you disagree with in another writer's review counter it in your own. Thanks, guys ;)
I think Demigod will be more like TF2. The rook will be doing the same thing in most games, regulus will be doing mines and snipe, etc.
I'll be surprised if it ends up that way. Even with the unpolished lines we have now you see people building differently depending on team composition and opponents. Once they balance the lines a bit and make multiple builds strong I think we'll see alot more variety in playstyle than something like TF2 allows. From e

That said, Demigod is on track to being a very good game, and the release clie

I saw a comment somewhere that there were no impressions of the game anywhere on the forums. So seeing as we likely won't see alot of meaningful updates (outside of netcode) between now and release but we likely will see a bunch of curious people drawn in by previews and videos: Give us your review of Demigod, not just as a Beta tester but also as a gamer. What do you think? I've posted mine below. Edit: Just to clarify - this thread is looking for re
Per Brad, this is a feature that is coming soon to Impulse.
Really? I thought they were saying no never not gonna?
Sort is very interesting, thanks for the update. It's interesting to sort by games won in custom rankings. The first pages of players there seem to be closer to my experience of the "top" players than what I see in the experience rankings
Yea, I agree with you. We'll put it on the list.
Cool cool [e digicons]|-)[/e]
I had this again last night. Game 2 on the list . Game freezes for two seconds - we see zzSleeper has disconnected, but he's actually just playing in an instance against AI where all other players have disconnected. I didn't confirm but this probably shows as a DC on his stats. Hopefully this doesn't make it to release. Thanks
This post is win. A clever grassroots effort will be more effective and cost developers alot less. Guerrilla marketing - Hire some street taggers to stencil Rook on the sidewalk in LA, New York, and Paris. :) Also, people will play for shinies - doesn't just have to be money. Ingame titles, bling, pets, and skins are all valid prizes.
With UB it really depends who you are fighting with and against. I lost a 1 v 1 UB match against Kira the other night because he built a fast tank and I built a squishy caster - but the caster build works really well in some team settings. I've played against a very strong spit/ooze/plague build - it doesn't matter that you aren't hitting too hard because you are gonna take half their life without touching them and give them a side of massive debuffs. I'd actually sa
recode - c'mon man. If you troll up the thread they'll be less likely to take it to heart. It's not a "Stardock Feature," any more than it's a "GPG Feature" I just don't know how seriously they were taking it. Hence the wringing of hands :)
Yah I remember but I can't find your post either. Same issue, different application edit: I didn't think it was a big deal at first because minions were so weak and you had to pay for each idol, but I didn't know you could sell idols without replacing them. Now that I think about it - If you buy level 1 monk idol and then buy a level 2 idol to replace does it cost you only the difference between the two or is it full price? I think
This is pretty cheezy. For example: At gamestart a General can buy level 1 monks for 1000 gold, summon the monks, and then sell the idol back for 800. Then he has 800 gold to spend on combat pots or armor. In a starting 1 v 1 flag duel the general who does this will always have an advantage over his opponent, and he will have paid 200 gold for it. Rinse and repeat. You end up with an army 80% more powerful than you paid for. Good thi
Yes, you can buy the monks, cast them, and sell them. You do lose 200g doings so though. If you are good at micro-managing them and can keep them from dying needlessly it could be worth it.
ok thanks, I'll make a post about it.
Some nice updates, thanks. It will be interesting to see how rebound plays out. Have you thought about tweaking Currency at each level to +4 gold, +8 gold, and +12 gold?
It sounds like your build is more early-game and low mana usage. With my build I generally have to get a couple 1500g helmets pretty early on to be able to sustain output of all spells whereas taking only rank 1 of penitence/shield and using passives/spirits primarily is pretty low mana cost overall.
Yah I'll max out Penitence - that's where most of the mana usage is and I'll use it a couple of times against a given opponent - ideally once as an interrupt and once to s
Well, I always max out penitence, but if there were a build I liked more I'd keep it at level 1 for the interrupt and low mana cost. I'm sure higher levels of shield are useful, but I've just always liked something else better.
Havent used spirits for a while. Sometimes late game I use them, and usually keep them around my base just for the extra damage.
O man. Really? Every fourth kill with Oak is a minion kill, for me. I just keep my la
Interesting. Are you still using this build? The debuffs are nice, but Oak earns his keep with a point in the interrupt and a point in the shield. You can really spec any way you want as long as you invest those two points early ;) I tend to like maxing his damage/spirit count and penitence, though, because late game Oak can 1 v 1 most opponents effectively, which comes in handy if you aren't attached to your ally at the hip.
Kestrel, I don't think it works using a couple FPS' to make the point about unlockable items. In CoD a burst shot to your head kills you regardless of the gun, or how much awesome gear you have. DG relies a lot on a players stats, not twitch skills. Not to say there isn't skill involved, but the RPG side makes this a very different animal from an FPS in terms of what works.
It's a valid point. It will be more difficult to balance items in Demigod than in CoD4.&n
So what were the results of the challenge?
We couldn't get enough people together to try this. :/ Maybe we'll try again after release.
My only other comment now would be to say you are okay with randomization of critical hits, of strike evasion, and of a considerable myriad of other similarly paramount mechanisms, but the Stun mechanism must remain 100% reliable... . That makes no sense to me. If randomization of one is fine, why then not of the other?
Let's look at some of your examples:
People in the real world in sports competition deal with unpredictable factors all the time. I have had trouble proccing snipes within a range of 30, for some reason. 1 out of every 10 will channel and make snipe noise, stance animation, but shot will not show and damage will not occur. I don't think this is related to wings.
When your opponent see that u are a high ranked Player they just quit, because they don´t want to lose.
I would prefer they quit before the game than at first blood. The flip side right now is a 3 v 3 where you'll have 5 people screaming at you to toggle ready when your team has a combined 5 games played and the other team are all veterans. I'm checking your stats anyway, it just has to be in windowed mode through the Pantheon website. Remove a s
