Here's a question: are item damage buffs considered spell damage? As in - are they mitigated by armor? If not, that might be one reason the devs did it this way...
One thing i find very useful of the good old alt key in WC3 and other RTS is that with one button you could have a look at all the health bars of the visible enemies and friendlies on the field, To not be able to do that in Demigod is quite frustrating and limiting even for team playing cause you have to hoose between looking at your friends health bar or that of your opponent by sliding over them with the mouse.
tilde or ` key - hold down control when you push it and i
This. It keeps me on my toes and forces me to treat any demigod as a serious threat at all times. The rook is a perfect example. If I could always see his mana I would be fearless against him with a melee DG as soon as his mana bar dropped. As it is now I always have to treat him with respect and caution, ever fearful of that massive hammer. I enjoy it this way.

It becomes utterly boring if mana is shown.
I agree completely! In fact, I would
I think of all the game modes the hardest to program for will be Capture the Flag - Ai just won't be able to cover or intercept a flagcarrier the way players will - if they can nail that then the other game modes should be easy in comparison.
last I heard there had been no decision yet whether to use microtransactions, let alone a model defined to ensure they work well, and as mentioned this is but one reason why I am not yet committed to this game.
A month or two ago it was stated that SD and GPG have budgeted for a year of free updates after release - so additional DGs and maps should not be subject to microtransactions during that time. If you have more recent information that doesn't
And WTH im not first now! I have 100 wins. Page update delay?
I wonder if it's calculated by win % and also time played - so even though you have more wins Kira's extra 600 minutes balances them out? Edit: There must be more factors than just wins and time played, because rank 13 and 14 both have 46 wins but rank 13 has less time played.. Edit: so as I refresh they are slowly incorporating all ranks, not just top 12 - very cool
Good find, Rumors - so clicking on the tournament names shows layout and has me pumped to play again [e digicons]\o/[/e]
Yah that's how Sins' system worked from release and it makes stats fairly worthless - it's a truism in SoaSE that you can play someone with 500 games played and 400 wins/23 losses and they will be completely terrible...the only meaningful stats there are the losses.. at least here time played gives some indication, but they should make games which end in under 5 minutes not count or at least take bot matches out of the equation... Edit: I'm glad t
I wonder if the minutes played only tracks winning games too? Kira's games won is roughly 30 minutes a game, and Wagnard's is roughly 25 minutes a game - games usually last upwards of 20 minutes unless someone is getting stomped... Also Wagnard's games won has gone up by 4 in ten minutes? [e digicons]o_O[/e]
I think we are all curious about this stuff. Any thoughts, Devs? In terms of preference: Automated tournaments would be fine, but I think it's a mistake to limit it to 4 specific DGs on a side, unless you can polish the balance to such an extent that they really match each other - never easy when the Dgs are not direct analogues. Of course that's where balance testing will come in next week, but we don't have alot of time, and this looks grim: Sedna vs Q
I did a test were it was 2 normal AIs vs. 2 hard AIs
What DGs were on which side? Which citadel upgrades did you buy?
"Now if only Unclean Beast could pull enemies to him with his giant, hooked, acid tongue that'd be really sweet.... " My thoughts exactly ^^ It's actually been raised a few times - not sure why GPG got rid of the tongue... All in all, really nice Blog, ABB. [e digicons]k1[/e] edit: looks like karma is bugged, but I'll try again later
OK, thanks Sevenix. If that's confirmed I think it will be an issue, but I guess that's why we are having a Beta to test it [e digicons]|-)[/e]
Great news, thanks Frogboy This has been brought up before but no answer was given, afaik - Are the light and dark sides going to be DG specific? As in, Regulus can only play on for the Forces of Light and Beast can only play for the Forces of Darkness?
I really like the GW implementation, including a dishonor ranking, and I'd put in an exception - - If all remaining players vote to quit without a victory condition then no penalty is assessed. I'm thinking of situations where someone loses connection, the game desynchs, etc. where a remake is clearly in order and you shouldn't be forced to finish to avoid dishonor.
Thanks HR, updated
The Devs are being uncharacteristically quiet. I imagine they have their nose to the grindstone, but if any care to comment we are all listening [e digicons]:-"[/e]
Also note that you act as if there was only one way to spec UB (auto-attack damage), which is blatantly wrong. If you are facing off against a Rook (which in itself, might be a clue to spec differently) and you notice he's going armor heavy - don't play into his game by simply doing what you always do. If you can't find a single-target spell-based spec for UB (something I doubt), you can easily switch tracks and go for an army killer build, circumventing the armor-heavy build of your o

So I read the OP update edit just now and I think it draws a good distinction. It doesn't matter how good one service is compared to the other, as long as there is more than one service. Steam right now is the Giant and Impulse is Jack... It doesn't really matter where Steam and Impulse stand now, though, because online retailers will boom and bust far faster than most of us think. Youtube is 4 years old this month, for example, and Wikipedia is 8 years old, but
By system I assume you mean the mitigation formula, right? You certainly aren't talking about item selection and availability...The formula isn't relevant - no one is questioning it. What we are concerned with is how it is applied. In 2D, afaik, you can mitigate non-spell damage to a far greater practical extent than previously. Additionally, the Stats builds that worked so well in Beta 1 have been nerfed by about 66% from a skill perspective and the DPS
Wait, who was Brad on TA:Spring?
Not sure Drexion, I just remember his saying something about it in a Sins post. I'd be interested in hearing more about it myself
Draginol = Frogboy = Brad Wardell
And when he's angry he becomes...well...let's just say you wouldn't like him when he's angry [e digicons]^_^[/e]
See, I distinctly remember people complaining that itemizing for auto-attack normal damage was overpowered and made spells useless.
:) And at the time it was true. For example - Regulus in Beta 1 was best played as a pure stats build with DPS items, and could become fairly ridiculous.
So here we are, complaining that spells are great and auto-attack spec doesn't beat everything. Funny world.
Because now the balance h
First - nice work. Impulse has come a long way, baby. And in very little time, so it will be very cool to see what it looks like in a year. [e digicons][/e] Second - What has made Steam so successful in the longterm, imo, is not only the extensive library of games but the ability of Valve to create a society. It's the gamer's Myspace, and the ability to connect with friends and communities, to be social, will give it brand longevity where a DDL
