Let me sum that up Kestrel: Let's gimp the sales of our product in order to (maybe) spread our unrelated distribution platform = GOLD.
Why would Stardock use Steam, seriously? What business model teaches you to pay your direct competitor to distribute a product you are being paid to distribute? All Steam has going for it over Impulse is that it is established. Every other aspect,

Incidentally, RockPaperShotgun just gave you guys major kudos for both the game and the incredible patching it has received: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2008/12/11/the-12-games-of-christmas-day-4/#more-6085

I think some of this stuff will be addressed with Beta 2 release, but -
Creep last hits and creep denies are easy to implement and are highly rewarding when you get good at it.
A decent explanation of last-hitting and denying can be found here if you don't play DoTA.
Another critical thing they need is to deal with momentum. If a team has a stro

so how many Hoshinkos are we talking? 50% of your fleet?
no worries at all :) Interesting perspective - TEC should lose the battle, all things being equal, because it can afford to replace its ships where the other races can't. This might need a buff then, because when I play as Vasari TEC is usually spending all that money to buy my crystal :P
Furthermore the 1.1 patch was about making balanced fleets and your saying QQ if i make an unbalanced fleet i loose
Kruppe, what are you talking about? Look at the original post. No one is talking about making unbalanced fleets. I am trying (with your help?) to figure out how to make a balanced TEC fleet that stands a chance against a balanced Advent or Vasari fleet - specifically without relying too much on capital ships...
Nice constructive roundup, Jinx. It sounds like you want deep gameplay without removing accessibility -
In order for a game to be embraced by the hardcore competitive folk, the game needs to have features which allow people to really "GET GOOD" at the game. In other words, the distance between a 'noob' and a 'pro' should be a near endless chasm. That said, the game doesn't need to be noob-unfriendly, although it will often degenerate into that unless the noobs can pr
Well it realy depends on your oppenents and if you get tehre before them or not. Soemtime just 20 fighters will do but otehr times you need to ahve only that and rely on your combabt ships to kill the enemy fleet. Also gettign a few flaks is always good 10 to 20 is what you want no mroe then that or it is just wasted supply. Unless your vasari, then you can spam flak frigs like mad. Untill your opent out spams you with light frigates. [/
For example map awareness and team ganks are a huge part of what make Dota a nonlinear game. Your not forced to stay in the open terrain. You can escape and hide and set up team fights through the map terrain.
I'd really like to see a thread on this. It's hard to play a harrassment build if the terrain won't support asymmetrical action.
Give examples of more advanced skill synergies that aren't so linear.
Innociv posted on this
Guys seriously withhold discussion about this until we at least see beta2 and then discuss in a polite manner without bashing others or other games.
This Edit: Also, I want a chicken mule!
So I'm trying to figure out how TEC fits in the 1.1 game. Yes their capships have useful abilities (please don't marzabait on me) but where do TEC fit into a carrier race? Can we come up with a scenario where TEC wins a carrier battle against matched Advent or Vasari without Cap abilities? I'm thinking a 30 minute fleet with legs would be 15 carriers (all fighters), 15-20 LRM (reserved for cap killing), 40 Cobalts (carrier-killers), and 20 or more Ho
As Vasari, I supplement my carrier fleet with MARZA! O wait this isn't the marzabaiting thread.... But yeah, if you spammed carriers only and still lost the strikecraft battle maybe you should consider at least a minimal diversity of 2 light frigates for every carrier you build for your next fleet. Unless he's got a huge number of bombers or light frigates and as long as I have other ships I'll keep the carriers in the gravwell - better than the AM hit.
Lillith is old-school desert religion. She was Adam's first wife. They bickered because she claimed she was equal rather than subordinate. She ran off, wouldn't go back even to save her children from God's wrath, and mothered a whole bunch of monsters and demons, the Lillim. Adam wouldn't stop whining, so then God hooked up Eve, who was supposed to respect Adam's authoriteh
Siddy! Stop marzabaiting :P
Hey Saurabh, I like Vasari, personally. If TEC got some love I'd play them too. Kinda hate Advent
Just wondering, but why is it never 'All-Mother'?
One reason might be that all of the playable Demigods are half-siblings. All of them have different mortal mothers and backgrounds but all have the same divine daddy - the All-Father. How would it be if it was an All-Mother, who had a whole bunch of kids off of different dads but didn't stick around to raise any of them? (Actually
Woah, Servo delivers the goods too. Thanks TBO.. The way my work network filter is set up I can access Stardock forums but not GPG. Is there any way GPG devs could update here at the same time they update over there? Or maybe e-mail it to Stardock reps and mods and they could just have a post titled GPG Forums Demigod Updates or something.... It might save some speculation, since I'm sure I'm not the only one behind a filter
Yah, good point, Cykur... [suitably chastened] [e digicons]:pout:[/e] No more throwaway one-shot strategies, then. As an aside, you will get much better if you develop against many players, instead of just one. PM me if you want to get a 1 v 1 game Saturday morning, OP, and we'll see if we can't find some solutions. Ke5trel
maybe u should talk about this on the demigods vs dota thread cause guys your really off topic.
OK, I'll not take this any further down the garden path, but quickly: You should write some of this up in posts if you see the same issues in Beta 2, Heartsbane. I like your thoughts on economy and complex terrain especially, and I think we would all like to see skill synergy. Thanks, Ke5trel
