Regulus is the kind of guy who at high levels (in Beta 1, looks like they've really changed a bunch) will wtfpewpew a *distracted* opponent demigod. I like the current build because it looks like he can carrot-and-stick his opponents to death pew pew run run bang bang go my mines!

@ Jinx, I understand your perspective, and I'm glad you include the caveat that we haven't seen Beta 2. No one wants a "dumbed down DoTA," not you, not me, and certainly not the devs. There are seeds even in the Demigod engine test we have played so far of interesting and deep capabilities and mechanics. Whether those seeds reach fruition is (ideally) in a large part up to us and I think the coming Betas will really make or break the game... <p
Clearly I can't walk away for a moment from this topic or the answer is already given by the devs.
lol, I know right? Pesky devs, answering our questions within 18 minutes...what's up with that? Give me the ol' EA stonewall any day... Ahem, glad to hear we will have singleplay...really good for testing things out...thanks
Good question, Annatar... Also, is singleplay skirimish an option in Beta 2?
Generals will have direct control over 1. Unique minions (ex: Oak's Spirits, Sedna's Yetis) 2. Generic minions (ex: Minotaur Captains, Monks) Generals will not have direct control over creeps spawned from portals.
Thanks Frogboy. On one hand it's too bad that the multiplay system is slow and flakey, on the other, it's refreshing that you tell us what's going on.. I'm psyched for generals
Just a though but I think gold transporters should have great health, heal when unattacked and have a really weak attack so that you can't just run a minion in and kill their gold supply. The current system is that if I cap a gold mine flag then the income from that flag is added to my team's gold per second. It doesn't matter where that flag is on the map, so there is no depth in choosing to cap it. I don't have to consider exposure or consolidation, I can just wander around capping things until you stop me. If you make capping the first step in a process that established an interruptable route of supply then you've really made the game deep, wi
Just to clarify, will the dog ever show up on actual sites, or only in forums? If it's just the forums I can play, but alot of filters restrict Stardock games sites for some reason....
yep, you need to preorder the game in order to get into the Beta, and you have 4 days to do it.
The death timer is based on your level, Soccer. At level 1 it might be 10 seconds, at level 25 it might be a minute...
Oh another thing: make the gold mines spawn workers or soemthing similar that automaticly walk to your base and drop of gold. This may sound a bit complicated and stupid, but right now there is no way to seriously raid. With this change, you would be able to raid these supply lines and thereby damaging your enemies war effort.
This
Hey Soccer thanks a bunch for posting this. I do most of my posting at work so I can't see sites like IGN because they have "Games" blocked in the filters, so it's always nice to actually see what everyone is talking about before I get home at night :D
Huttah! Woah, this thread is evolution in action.... as an aside to what seems to be a debate on casual vs. hardcore vs. socially cannibalistic youth gaming - it looks like Demigods will have between 7 and 15 skills in Beta 2, according to Arisal's take on the IGN Blog screenshots released today. I haven't seen them yet behind my big ol firewall, but this certainly speaks to the need for diversity discussed earlier, so if you can go look... Edit: ok so I've seen th
Thanks Frogboy Out of curiosity, did you guys use the work IC did on Alloy to get this going, or completely seperate process?
this just in via Frogboy:
It's LOOKING like Demigod Beta 2 will come out next THURSDAY. So what's the delay? The new Internet multiplayer system: Portless multiplayer. It's a pretty huge thing that has had to be developed and tested internally as you can imagine. So there is no router port you have to open per se, it just takes care of everything. Sort of like Hamachi but no need for a VPN driver thing.
I have to say, if you had to delay th

I'm not really a nub, but I'd be happy to play sandbox with nubs and pause to give tips or try things out if that interested anybody. I'll be on for a couple of hours Satuday morning EST Ke5trel

SR2 is definitely worth 4 dollars. It's crazy, like Russian crazy, so you have a whole bunch of minigames within the larger Turn-Based RPG that are rewarding in their own right. A couple of the optional puzzles took help from friends and several days to break. It also has a nice little arcade shooter element and a Robot RTS element, which endgame can be challenging. All in all it's pretty sweet.
played a game last night where one opponent spammed cobalts - really effective against carriers, as noted, but pretty useless when I brought heavy cruisers in.... From that I'd say 20-30 cobalts max, if you see your opponent going carriers, then start pulling out some other ship types. That said, I'm really liking the utility of light frigates in this build. Their speed makes tactical manuever possible against more powerful ships. Sometime soon I'll
If demigod can make it so that at the level cap, the builds are radically different - ie. the builds DO NOT converge, then that'll be a good start to ensure diversity.
this
You can compare this fight to WoW Vs all other MMO's. even if its old (WoW), nobody leaves it and not even looking at the competitions, even if some of them are better. I know, its not the perfect comparison but you see my point.
Well, at this point it's arguable that there are any better MMOs than WoW. It is old, but it is also an order of magnitude more polished than anything anyone else has released. And most importantly, Blizzard is not resting on their
