Here is your quote for today Jul 29, 2002.: In studying the way, realizing it is hard; once you have realized it, preserving it is hard. When you can preserve it, putting it into practice is hard. ~Zen Saying~

I spoke German(low) when I lived there for six years...elementary school years...it was a mandatory class. I still retaina bit, but haven't used it in fifteen years or so. I picked up a little Japanese in Okinawa, a little Tagalog from a friend (foreign exchange student) in high school, some French from some deployments with the Legion on the East Coast(USA), and used to know a little Russian from one of my 2nd Generation Marines. So I speak a handful of words in a handful of languages, enough t

I have found a bunch of tutorials on this for photoshop and paint shop pro, but NOTHING for fireworks on grid creation. The terminology between the software isn't even similar enough to find something that looks like it will translate. Anybody have any ideas, or know of a decent fireworks tutorial site?

Well, not everyone uses desktop icons... ...and not everyone who uses desktop icons runs them down the left side like a default windows install... ...but I agree that there should be some obviously blanked space, or at least non-attention-grabbing, where you can load your icons if you use them... I love these three little dots...

Also, to make a skin will depend on the software the skin is applied to. Usually, a skin is basically broken up into peices. One peice will be the upper left corner. To make that peice, you create an image to go in that corner. Then you create the upper right corner's image. Then the middle, etc. The software links it all. Some applications that you can skin are very complex, and require modifying code to go tith things like clicking effects and slider bars. Others are much s

get some software and use your imagination. there are tons of tutorials for all kinds of different effects out on the web. I suggest using google at www.google.com to search for tutorials on whatever software you use. If you don't currently have any, there are numerous freeware options out there. I would suggest GIMP, since it has virtually all of the features a high-end peice of software has, and is totally free. for 3D software, try something like Blender 3D to get started. All software will r

Just as a passing note...I seem to recall that the gaming industry accounts for billions of dollars (pounds, euros, lira, etc.) per year. Now, remove the console market, and you don't end up with much outside of windoze runners. I don't recall hearing anything in, oh, since the creation of the desktop pc being mentioned about any other type of software making that kind of an impact in sales...so I would guess that there are a huge group of games-oriented pc users out there that do SOME work on t

Hey, any one notice how a lot of these linux distros seem to need a non-NTFS formatted space to install to, and to get it running NTFS, you have to patch later? Well how do you get it installed to get to be able to patch if the original drive is preformatted with NTFS because you are running win2k? Can you run some proggie that removes part of the NTFS partition and converts it to FAT32 to do the install? Or is it not possible to run FAT32 and NTFS on the same physical drive?
