"If i stay in game, i will loose a serious amount of xp... to get it back i will need at minimum 5 wins if the enemies don't have sth. like 1500 xp." And? XP isn't everything. I have literally no idea what my XP is. I play because it's fun and because it's a challenge.

Can I suggest an "abandon game" option? The problem is what to do about games where someone else (and especially multiple people) rage quits, leaving the rest with a somewhat pointless game. Rather than one team having to concede and presumably recording a loss, if a majority of remaining players on both teams agree, the game would end with no penalty to either side. Also, please please please put the replacement AI for quitters on Nightmare. This wo

Not to mention that Shield has a massive 30 second cooldown and doesn't last very long at all at low levels. It's not going to be useful more than once in a fight.

Most people seem to play Oak as an assassin, although usually people do take priest minions. But the skill build is usually heavy on assassin skills like Penitence and Shield, rather than Spirit Ward, Morale etc Personally, I tend to start out as an assassin Oak to increase survivability early game and migrate to a general by the mid to late game when I've got better gear.

This (the problem Frogboy describes) is my only major connection problem, and has been for some time. For the last week at least, i've been able to connect to the host 9 times out of ten, if not more, but of those lobbies, unless it's a 2v2, 4/5 times I'll be able to connect to all but one other player. Sometimes another player can't connect to another player, but it's very common for it to be me and another player. I've got a static IP, so I too doubt it's related to the multiple IP problem.

So, I updated the game today - history talks about additional connectivity improvements and optimisations etc - but when I try to play multiplayer, it tells me I need to update again. But there's no option to do so in Impulse, even after I refresh. Do I need to reinstall or is this an Impulse issue?

"This is always the real question. How were they able to so easily sneak in and capture your towers, and get cats and Giants? " To be fair, it's very easy to "sneak in" and capture portals in Cataract, as there are only a small number of towers in the way. But, yes, the catas/giants thing does suggest the game had already been lost.

I have to echo gaping maw. I don't think it matters too much how the demo is limited. For marketing purposes, however, some kind of tutorial/easing into the game is absolutely critical. As it stands, the game is painfully unaccessible for newbies. Hardcore players and Stardock/GPG fans have been able and willing to perservere to work it out, but a more casual player thrown into multiplayer is liable to be very confused and frustrated. I realise this will take a lot more time and effort, but i

Armour's the one I'm curious about. Gold, XP and tower health are a no brainer. Tower damage is pretty good, but not essential. Creep damage seems not very worthwhile, unless you're going on a concerted tower raid (and even then...). But armour I can see being potentially useful, but I rarely put money into until the late game. I see its use as not being just against demigods (although if it does mean the difference between one swing and two, or one AoE and two, that's still double the time).

1hr games are good! Not all the time, sure, but these days you hardly have time to get up to the high levels.

That's exactly what I like about Fortress. It has much more ebb and flow than the other game types (well, apart from Conquest, maybe), and it comes down to skill over time rather than an early game edge.

1) Call of Duty 4 is one of the most successful and popular multiplayer games of all time. Guess what? It has favour items. 2) You start this thread complain of hacks and exploits which you won't detail, then admit that you're really talking about a feature. Not cool. 3) Then you complain about being flamed, for lying to new players who don't know better, no less. Even less cool. Oh, and you ask for the thread to be deleted, so you won't have to b

"But on a more philosophical level, and without regard to 1up, if you convert letters to numbers the way they do in school, an "F" would equate to 58, all Ds would be in the 60s, all Cs would be in the 70s, etc. That simply doesn't work when you're aggregating scores in my mind, but of course there are many schools of thought on this issue. Which is the major downside to using letters. " Uh, no. It's the major downside to aggregating review scores with

Played my first hard tournament as Oak last night after a couple of normals. Pretty much every battle went the same way, except for a handful of walkovers once I got my stuff together. Basically my team would come under severe pressure early on when I was underskilled and weak. We'd often get close to losing, but so long as we managed to beef up the defences, we'd hold out long enough for me to swing the tide. In the end, we won all but the final skirmish, which was a Conquest game on the sma

"To suddenly add new conditions for your customers to receive what we have ALREADY PURCHASED is probably illegal. " I would love to see you test this theory, if it wouldn't force Stardock/Ironclad to waste time and money defending it. You'd get laughed out of court. You have not purchased patches. You purchased v1.0 and that's what you got. What makes this whole debate so galling - and I do understand the complaint about "having" to install Impulse, especially for

Yeah, but the chances of me getting to 3000 credits, let alone the rest of the resources, any time soon on that map were minimal. I needed all the cash I could get just to maintain the fleet and/or stop the pirates.

"I honestly don't know that I would waste the resources trying to max your first planet out. I think the benefits of it that early would be negligable." Well I had to max it to get any income at all. The first two upgrades just neutralised the tax. I'm pretty sure that's the only map I've played where the home planet is taxed at the start. As for my fleet, I had my cap ship (Progenitor) and a few Disciples. I figured that would be more efficient than static defences. I didn't think of s

Well, first things first, did you upgrade the colonized planet? Yes, that's the first thing I did, but I didn't have enough resources to get the secoind planet out of drain mode, or to fend off pirate raids. Clearly colonising that early was a mistake, but even when I didn't colonise, my original, maxed out planet wasn't generating enough income to do anything. With maxed infrastructure it was giving considerably less than 1 credit a second. "To the OP, are you building base d

The other night I tried out one of the small maps with barren planets, and had to give up after about three tries. I just couldn't get enough income (even after maxing my capital), so I could only fend off a couple of pirate raids before it was all over. Colonising even one planet just made things worse. The one thing I haven't tried yet is only sending out colony ships to just take over extractors. Is that viable, or are these maps unplayable? Wouldn't the remote outposts just g
