The problem is describing the gameplay to someone not familar with DOTA. At a glance it can be confusing and not overly intuitive to work out how it works - ie utilising your own creeps vs theirs etc. if you just take your time to play a game or two and you still dont understand how the game works then you are fail.
Your comment reminds me of those "I'm rubber, you're glue" playground insults. The game may be ob

I feel a little bittersweet on this. On the one hand, I've been complaining about the lack of depth, and the assortment of design flaws from WAY back in the first Beta build that was released. I got flamed to no end for my comments. Fast forward to now and looks like a lot of people are starting to share the same opinion. However, though I don't play this game a whole lot, I do enjoy it when I have a good game. Plus, I would like that game to live

Although incredibly cheap, erebus can teleport over the pit. Do that, grab the flag, lock it and run. As someone above mentioned, also use Oak's last stand cheese. Exile is the coolest looking, but worst designed map - I agree. That's one of the few maps where you should really only get the gold/exp/damage/armor bonus on the creeps and the rest of teh gold goes towards powering yourselves up. One of the worst parts of the map is that on teh oth
League of Legends where you can be permanently banned from the game because you left early, after paying for the game.
Geeze! League of legends will have that? Looks like I'll never touch that game. PS. I completely agreed with your points on rage quitting. It's not that big of a deal and often people are forced to do it anyways. Plus, if they're not having fun, they're probably not going to let you have much fun either.

Great job, guys. Great changes. Would it be possible to make it 5 minutes of "free quitting"? Also, it would be great if the quit button has a timer during the free quitting part to let you know how much time you have. These aren't original ideas - I'm basically quoting starcraft.
lol you kidding me? you talking as if 5v5 was the STANDARD game while its like winning a lottery anyway 56 different kind of team vs another 56 kind of team its a very good variety imo
3v3 would also be 56 combinations vs 56 combinations. 8 choose 5 == 8 choose 3.
You mean they go the DotA route and begin adding game-breaking heroes that have been copy and pasted from other heroes and was thought up within ten minutes by a monkey?
I'm not knocking Demigod's heroes, but you realize most of their abilities were lifted from DoTA heroes, right? Also, at the beginner level, the dota heroes seem imbalanced. This is similar to Demigod's constant posts of "xxx killed me, therefore he's imba." However, at the pro level
Regardless of who did what, the plain and simple fact that this game runs like garbage, and the package says "StarDock". You stand behind your product, not write a bunch of blog posts about how everyone should feel sorry for you. The game doesn't run like garbage, and I'm not even a fanboy. Maybe you guys should stop trying to play new games on your commodore 64s.
It's obviously hyperbole and that player

Smarter AI isn't really something they can turn on like a switch and give you. It's quite a bit of work to make AI play well. It's especially challenging to make them play at any sort of competitive level. The easiest solution (which I think I read SD is persuing) is having AI only enabled for games where teh players are new. For games with players that are experienced, the AI will not take over characters. The leaver characters will either get controlled by ot
Just so you know I'm not dumb like you...I won't link my paid account to my forum account just so you can ban me without giving me my money back. I may have been born at night, but it wasn't last night. I highly recommend no one links their Impulse ID email with the forum (use a different email). Also froggie said that they kick acocunt that don't have it registered. That is BS becuase I have another account on this forum that isn't linked to a game being purchased and it
This thread is pure drama. Please lock it.
It's drama because people are making it into drama (needlessly). I think its original intent was an inquiry into why warskull was banned and to get him unbanned. (and also to absolve any fears they might have of arbitrary future bans) The title was a bit of a generalization, but all that's on the table is Warskull's account availability. He raged a
Yes, forums are made to discuss, and yes it is perfectly okay to disagree with someone. However, you forget that this forum DOES belong to Stardock and they can ban whoever the hell they feel like for whatever the reason they feel like. WarskullX and Chaosnaska both have faced a ban on the end of very lenient moderators and they should be thankful. And they weren't banned for their opinion, they were banned for being an outright dick and annoying the crap out of everybody.
I'd just like to point out that although stardock published the game, the multiplayer network code is part of impulse. What that means is that stardock DID do the networking. GPG focused on the actual game programming. Much of the design was also done as a collaboration between stardock and gpg (this is evident by Brad talking about several of his game design sit-downs with Mike Marr) To that flagship/EA comparison, that's not quite accurate because EA had nothing to do wi

The game isn't all about kills. If you're going for flag caps, amulet of teleportation is better. Also, some of the favour items that boost damage are pretty nice too. Since it's a team game, as long as one of your guys can slow the enemy down, you can concentrate on dps. Back when my favour was messed up and I had 4 billion favour, I tried all sorts of teh different higher level favour items. I wouldn't necessarily say they're all totally balanced, but to clai

I never host and I'd feel bad kicking anyone... however, every game I've played where someone had a ping of 250+ always ended up playing very choppy. Most of the time they dropped out mid way as well. Some of those were rage quits, but I think most were connection problems. I'm not saying high ping always constitutes a laggy game and I believe what you said about the netlag. However, just from my experience, playing with a high ping fella ended up in bad games.

One thing though, they more or less said they don't want last hits in the game. If they give creeps a higher bounty, the concept of "last hits" will automatically be introduced, unless players share creep gold. Personally i LOVE last hits and it's one thing that made DoTA so challenging.
