Quoting JinxOfSin, reply 12 Reminds me of those 7v1 comp stomp games. I never quite saw the point of those. Those games had a point. If you're slick you can drop the comp before the game even starts and no one will notice. Now its a 7 player free for all but no one knows it but you. You then proceed to own everyone and laugh. They have a point
I remem
If it's anything like War3 Banlist then it's not as harsh as you guys imagine. If someone has banlisted a certain player you get a warning, possibly with a reason. IF multiple persons have that one banlisted (not sure what the cap was) you can allow the tool to kick them, or warn you of that. THat's about it. It's so people HAVE some accountability when they join the game just to quit when they get killed the first time they try to attack a group of3 heroes. Or are generally being an a
With no accountability (can make a dummy account) I smell griefing.
My comment wasn't really directed at these kind of examples though. And they are in the minority in my experience. I'm talking about the players who will leave a perfectly decent game just because they saw in to the future and saw that they might lose, or they got pissed because dared to kill them twice in a row etc etc. It's gotten to the point that more than half my games end with some shithead getting replaced with AI and
I agree, leaving for those reasons is silly
That's true, but you only can count on that wordless communication if you know the people you're playing with. I wouldn't trust some random I got matched with to react as I would without seeing them in action for a little while. So you need to talk to them.
I played so much inhouse DoTA back in the day, I've ended up with this tendancy. That's probably the most frustrating thing about Demigod, you have no idea what people's skill levels are and h
Show some fucking fortitude and stick around even if the game doesn't go your way jesus!
It's not about "going your way", it's about a pointless match up. If the game's outcome is completely decided, it's not very much fun is it? Would you *honestly* play this game at all if you never win? Of course not. Would you *honestly* play this game at all if you were guaranteed to win? I wouldn't. That'd be boring. Although I a
I've played only about 5 games so far and have lost 4 of them (mostly because at least one person on my team ends up leaving at some point). But I've stayed to end in every one because I just enjoy playing the game win or lose. Also, why wouldn't you stay until the end? Isn't it possible to explore end-game strategies that could possibly turn the tide of battle? Why not stick it out and build tactics against overwhelming odds just to see if your gameplay could improve in some way.[/quo
When the game is severely lop-sided, I think it's the perogative of the losing team to quit if they want to. If you do it in a game I'm in, I don't mind what-so-ever. However, if it's a close matchup, please don't leave =) I don't enjoy pounding on a team with no chance of winning. I also don't enjoy being on a team with no chance of winning. What's the point of playing if the outcomes predetermined? You may think I'm a
Im pretty sure in this instance your ally lead you. You reacted to his actions. Humans don't have a hive mind, so someone has to give executive orders. There is no way around this.
We don't have hive minds, but if you are experienced in this genre, you immediately know the risk/rewards of actions. If there's an injured demigod fleeing, you'll be able to asses the likelyhood of chasing him down, killing him and surviving. When your tea
You can NOT rely on your team in this or DotA unless you're bringing people you know. In a public game you absolutely can not rely on them, if you think you can you're smoking crack. Yes, you might get a good team mate, or your team mate might suck shit. But you can't just assume they're good or know what they're doing. More often than not 1 or more will have no idea what the hell is happening. You rely on yourself and only yourself and if it happens that you get lucky then you'll be a
You only play rook, that's not exactly trying everything. These games are all about countering. You don't play what you like, you play to counter the other team. When they pick a hero you pick a hero that counters them, when they pick a skill you pick a skill to counter it. That's how you win these games. If that doesn't sound like fun this might not be the genre for you. You can't rely on your team to do it. You can never rely on your team. You play to win by y
To be honest, Chaosnaska was downright hostile to even the thought of nerfing anything, let alone erebus. Crow doesn't taste so good, but it's medicine for being an arse.
Oh that's good. I keep reading update posts saying it is. Everygame I hope to have more than 175 but it's just locked there :(. It's like they saw the account at 4 billion favour and nuked it so hard it's radiaoactive and doesn't grow anymore.
I haven't had too many connection issues, but everytime I "dropped" it was because of a crash. I even crash in the lobby when the game isn't even ready to start =(.
I really appreciate it, actually. It's a lot of work on SD's part, but invisible/distant devs SUCK! I just look at the dates on the OP to see if it's likely to still be valid.
I went from having bugged favour at 4 billion to being permanently stuck at 175. Note that all items I bought with the 4 billion were only available for that game and not permanent. Now I'm stuck with the bottom 3 favour items and locked in at 175 favour. Is it just me that this is happening too? With the recent wins I've had, I should be at at least 2000...
Im usually the one requesting rather directly of my ally to grab a flag here or attack there or help me here and I usually apologize if I seem to be bossing when I realize ive been sending him around like my mail boy heh. But I just want us to win, not trying to be a loser..and if I am not the one directing us usually no one does and its just a very silent uncoordinated game.
I agree with this... sometimes there's an automatic team synergy and you just read each other's
I don't mind leavers, but I hate that connection dialog that pops up. A quit isn't the same as a disconnect and shouldn't be treated the same. When someone sends the quit message, it should just say "so-and-so has left the game". Of course, that's assuming there is a quit message.
If the match is close and someone leaves, that's annoying. If it's evident that the team is going to lose/win, I'd rather have leavers than waste my time. Eg. if someone on their team is feeding and we've got a higher warscore etc, by all means just leave. I have limited amount of time to play and I prefer to just play good matches. Lopsided (easy win, automatic loss) is really not that fun. If you want to steam roll, just play against AI. Although I do
To play devil's advocate, it still is a team game and your team mates probably aren't playing to lose. There's a lot of people who don't have a clue what to do or ferverently feed the other team. A common mistake is players having no map awareness. You could be getting chased around by another demigod and be saved if your ally was paying attention. Another example is players blowing all their mana killing creeps then having nothing left when they need to kill/save anot
Let me remind you about a very relevant post: http://forums.demigodthegame.com/351282 Chaosnaska, I'm looking at YOU This thread is about identifing any imbalances even if they're small. Surely the game couldn't be 100% balanced. I'm sure everyone agrees with that.
There's also a free and open source alternative called synergy. I think the one thing multiplicy has over synergy is the ability to copy files Here's a link to synergy http://synergy2.sourceforge.net/ Here's a post comparing their differences http://www.donationcoder.com/Forums/bb/index.php?topic=2447.0
Lesson learned : only play with friends on your team As much as people will deny that the Demigod playerbase has the same bad tendancies as DoTA (leavers, etc), this is a fact of multiple team-deathmatch style games. Especially ones that have a long match and are very team dependant.
This is a known bug and it's seriously annoying. I now only look at health bars on creeps and keep my mouse hovered over demigod targets.
I was just trying to say it's buying the toaster for the wrong reasons. To sell Demigod on it's single player merit is to sell it for the wrong reasons. Yeah, it was probably a bad analogy.
