A temporary ability allowing the character to see what items visible enemies have for 5 seconds would be more appropriate for a skill imo. You lose sight as soon as the ability ends There is no need for the character to be pure support, and I don't think pure support characters are particularly appropriate for the game, even Sedna and QoT who are very close to being support characters can hold their own in combat. I do like the general gist of where you're coming from though.<

Frogboy, are we going to get a gr2 exporter along the lines of what Obsidian gave out so that modders can create new meshes and load them as levels? Mod support is great, but if we can't create content the mods will consist almost entirely of rule changes... If yes, I can stop digging around for some way to do it myself. This would make me happy.
The version of granny in the expotron is 2.6, we're now at 2.8.21 for the viewer from the RAD site, DG used granny exporter 2.7.0.29. So really we're going to need a copy of that dll... Looking at the other comments in that thread I'm less hopeful of getting this to work, especially if you've already tried the exporter from NWN2 and things broke. There is, however no granny2.dll in the Demigod directory that I can find. This could mean any number of things, but if gr2 is using
Which exporter did you use? this ? Is specularity handled in the gr2 files? There are a number of directdraw surfaces within the map directory, wouldnt they contain the textures for the level, including the spec/bump/other maps? EDIT: map05_corner_s : specular map map05_corner_n : normal map map05_corner_d : diffuse map <
Reg can't chase people around corners. If he is pursuing someone and they go around a corner, they will be within his range by an increasing amount after they hit the apex of the corner which will cause him to stop moving, then when they get out of range again he will have to go around the corner and will thus be out of range of them.
There isn't going to be a map editor that the average user can use to make a completely new map from scratch. Ever. This isn't warcraft 2, it doesnt work with a tileset. You can change the way the current maps work by editing the lua files, as synapsis and I have been doing today with success. It is unlikely there will ever be a way to import your own mesh into the game to use as the level mesh because it's in a proprietary closed format not many people are familiar with, this will most likel
use the mod manager. Its just a matter of copying over some small script files
Does this mean my DG would start off naked? Oh my...
Try rotating the map 45 degrees and putting the citadel in the corner. Move the portals+flags to the t junctions and the gold flags to the center corners. Its a mini Zikurat!
More seriously, what if you wanted to play a game where flag locking was more difficult? You can also get new towers to unlock gradually as you progress in war rank, until you end up with this:
You need to follow Sorian's instructions on modding. Rename dgdata.zip to dgdata.zip.old or something. Extract its files into a folder called dgdata.zip. Screw around with the lua files to your hearts content. All of the stuff im changing to do this is in the \Impulse\Demigod\dgdata.zip\maps\MAP05 folder You want the _save file mostly. _scenario looks like it would be useful for doing a proper conversion, since it takes all of the groupings in _save and makes the map go from w
more silliness
The grunts get pretty confused when they come out since their first waypoint is behind them.
gkrit that would render the map totally unsuitable for custom games, I don't think it really justifies any asymmetry.
I'm not 100% sure about AoE3, but I don't think its using the gr2 stuff for the terrain, only the unit models. As someone else mentioned, it's probably using a heightmap and some other stuff to make the terrain rather than using a 3d mesh. This means you can't have the incredible visual backdrops available in Demigod, which are actually a part of the map.
"20% Coupons Suck" Yep they definately need a buff, way UP atm.
See the other map editor thread. And yeah I'm hoping we see some more official maps centred around 3v3. I think theres a bit of customisation on the current maps that is possible without transforming the gr2 rigs too. Cataract in particular could be drastically changed by moving structures, portals and flags around. For example, move the citadels into the corners and have a double creep portal in the other corners. Or swap the citadel with one of the corner porta
have a look at the MAPXX_save.lua file, if you want to change where the structures and stuff are. You might be able to change creep paths with this as well, I'm not sure yet. EDIT: where XX is the map number. This might be more bearable if you can load the gr2 into 3DS, which someone on the aoe3 forums managed to do. This would give you an easy way of determining appropriate position location and scale without too much trial and error. EDIT#2: the paths are definately
I did some googling: If you want to view the maps already in DG, you can download the granny viewer for free, but AFAIK you can't export to another format for editing, nor can you edit anything from eithin that program, nor can you import from a standard .fbx or .x or whatever the flavor of the month for mesh formats is. http://www.radgametools.com/granny/download.html So the format we are dealing with for
If I'm reading the table correcty, at level 15 the DPS build purchases magslayer while the HP build has purchased nothing of equal power, and yet the HP build is STILL coming out on top by a slither. The total spend for the final figure is off by a 5k piece of equipment buffing damage, but before that its a 3k split the other way and yet HP is still coming out a long way ahead. My suggestion: try this with an auto attack reg build using AF/Mines/MotB. That way the ooze debuffs arent g
If you get max morale you have sacrificed some serious versatility in your avatar, and you'll probably die and your minions along with you before you can kill anything. Try playing yeti sedna: you'll be sacrificing either heal or pounce if you want to build up yetis and morale. Good luck with that...
All the enemy has to do is land one stun on you and you're going to die without some HP stacking. Saying you'll run away if you become the focus is one thing, but if TB does one of his dandy shatter combos on you good luck getting away alive, or if an enemy Reg uses mark on you and your wand becomes unusable. Or penitance..theres just too many things that can mean you're going to take serious hits.
Keeping your opponents gold flag on cataract locked from the moment you take down the corner flag until the end of the game is going to seriously dent their economy. You're denying every member of their team a huge chunk of gold, and the value is even higher once currency 1 is taken into account. On a side note, anyone else feel cataract is in fact not balanced? I feel the +HP flag is a lot better than the +mana flag, and the gold flag is as others have said great for regular locking,
Just thought I'd point out that if you buy two locks, after using the first one the cooldown timer will start, and when it expires the flag will need locking again. It's really quite convienient that theres a 45 second cooldown for a 45 second lock. So if you're one of those champs that likes to backdoor/lock/port back to base and then go do it all again, use the cooldown timer to calculate when you need to port back in. This will be common sense for a lot of you I know, but I think i
