I've only played the first 2 missions but so far Clerics are new, I can set different types of flags including defence flags. I can buy more skills for my heroes. There seems to be more effort to distinguish the Heroes, such as rangers best vs beasts and Clerics best vs Undead. The blacksmith is handled differently. Assuming Evolution is true then this is not a sign of Evolution in progress, just mutation. The best AI I have seen in an RTS is probably the Dawn of Skirmish mod for Dawn of War (The first one). A team of independant developers went to work on the AI and made a damn good job.
