I haven't forgotten about you guys. :-) Just been very busy. After finals week, I got engaged, got my wisdom teeth ripped out, got a sinus infection (still am battling that) AND had to wipe my labtop's hard drive. Now with everything back up and running ... we'll see how things are going to go. I have the files backed up on my external, just a matter of getting everything situated again.

Alright, setting up the file structure for my mod has been figured out. :-) NEXT QUESTION!!!!! - It concerns Map Making. O.o' How can I turn a 'small' map into a 'large' map? Do I have to start over from scratch? Also, why is it that when I zoom out, my star dissapears and my planets don't really seem to shrink down? (This was an issue before I started messing with the spiralgalaxy.dds files and still is an issue). It's realy hard

Just an update for those that are wondering. I finished my mod Multiple Stars Graphics Mod v0.1 which removes the spiral galaxy feature when zoomed out and replaces it with a simple small star. https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/348205 Now onto my next question, how do I turn this into a mod that can be enabled instead of just a mod that overwrites files? I'm curious as to how this would work because the files I overwrote to accomplish this mod only touches the vanil

Alright, all spiral galaxies are now shown as a single star!!! This means no more white globs of death and fps stuttering to the point of lockup. :-) Please refer to my 'Multiple Stars Graphics Mod' - https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/348205 There is a download link there which will make playing my previously linked honorverse map a bit easier (since it has 50 stars). -_-' &nbsp

Multiple Stars Graphics Mod v0.3 [Updated 2/15/11] [Vanilla Sins v1.191+, Entrenchment v1.051+, Diplomacy v1.011+] -DESCRIPTION: This graphics mod simply removes the spiral galaxy animation which appears when zoomed out on multiple star maps. It replaces the animation with a single solitary star. This is not only more realistic, but it is

Problem Solved!!!! I've taken black-da.dds, edited it's alpha chanel to white instead of black and then renamed it to fit galaxyspira.dds, galaxyspiral2.dds, and galaxyspiral3.dds. When you start up the game you no longer see galaxies of death, you just see little tiny stars. [e digicons]:)[/e] Also, this texture change does not cause mismatches during online play. [e digicons]:)[/e] I will be putting this together in a small package for download

SWEET! Thank you SO MUCH guys! :-) I edited the .dds file and changed the alpha channel to white. Guess what. It works like a dream. All you see when you zoom all the way out instead of galaxies are little stars. :-) So, just take the black-da.dds, change the alpha chanel from black to white and replace GalaxySpiral.dds, GalaxySpiral2.dds, and GalaxySpiral3.dds to get rid of the galaxies and replace them with stars. You know what's even cooler? This change does NOT caus

Alright, I'll probably get around to trying that out sometime tommarow (friday). Could someone link me to the files at nVidia? (I'm going to bed now so, I figure if someone links me the files it'll save me some time searching) [e digicons]:andrew:[/e] I'll probably try messing around with the .dds files in photoshop jsut to get familiar with them before I try anything else. Thanks!!! (will let you knwo what's up, and Carbon, thanks. I'll let you

I have photoshop 7 but I am unable to open any .dds files. :-\ Is there a good base .dds file to work with or are there any tutorials that can help explain how to edit these .dds files?

What do you mean including alpha? Is there currently a black.dds file in the folder that I can copy and rename to overwrite the proper files? Or would I have to create one? If I have to create one, how would I go about doing that? [quote who="Carbon016" reply="24" id="2145090"] Quoting boshimi336, reply 19Any luck DanMan? Cool. Danman said he would be looking into the 'white glob of death' issues and that he has an idea of what to do and where to go with it. Hopefully With that I'll be able to have my map up later as well. I was hoping that you could give me a quick run through how to place different structures on different planets, start up stuff, that sort of thing. :-)

Is there a way that the map can already be 'explored'? That way we can know where we are going? I don't know if that is an option or not within Sins. :-\ I know both sides at least had limied intel on the other. (Bigger gravity wells would probably better simulate jumping 'on the edge of a system'.

Hmmm, I played around with it and a few of the things that i've run into on your map are a few of the things that was why I decided to try the star route. Good: I like how you have system limit's modeled into the map. Very cool idea if you're going with phase lanes. I feel tha the Celestial Body Mod has a lot of good utility in it that may lend itself to be usefull to a Honerverse Style Gameplay mod if used correctly. <
