Light Frigs are supposed to be awful for actual engagements. You get them from the start. If LF rushing was a legit tactic, this game would be COMPLETELY 1 dimensional. As it stands, two units are available form the start. Scouts. LF's. Yes. LF's suck. But they DO help with early expansion. The place where the problem enters is that everyone at some point gets support cruisers yes? I mean, eventually you're going to, right? Well, what counters them? Anyone? Light frigs....yay. So you

@Shooter I'm pretty sure capital ships at one time could be upgraded with cash up to level 10. Your first capital ship also came out with 3 levels. The devs saw this was unbalanced and didn't work. I don't think you're ever going to see what you're asking for because people would essentially have gigantic mobile starbases, and the only thing that would be able to fight them would be more gigantic mobile starbases with lots of money poured into them too.
I'll give the run down of what my understanding of the Mothership's lvl 6 is. When a capital ship dies, it's spirit crew stays int he grav well. I guess on high graphics you can see them buzzing about. Anyway, if the mothership enters that grav well, it will "pick up" that experience. What i've never quite understood is if the ability will pick it up with one shot of the ability, and then give with the second BECAUSE as long as the mothership has been in that grav well where the spiri
The majority of the community is on entrenchment, yes. The # of people online varies. At peak hours though, I'd say a little under 200 is the most I've seen online recently. That's just me. Welcome back. Like the name by the way. Great game, great books. Plenty of new players are joining daily. THe expansion has all the bugs worked out of it, so people seem to be coming back to sins a bit.
If you play a game with the AI, you can choose settings that will give you missions. Unlock teams in the beginning. What will happen is the computer will offer you missions. If you satisfy this mission, the computer will "up" it's friendlyness towards you. If you do not, it will downgrade it. The higher the friendship, the better the alliance. It will start at 0 if it's an enemy, at 100 if it's a friendly. You can potentially have allies turn on you and enemies become fri
I think I should say one more thing. Deceiver, love the thread. I hope the Devs read every word of it.
I'd like some penalty or warning for when someone's breaking their treaty with you. Backstabbing is fun, but it's a little too easy to do it instantly in FFA. Give the guy who's getting backstabbed like 2 min to react to it.
It's a slim possibility, but if you lost your homeworld, then you'd be losing culture at that rate. Check to make sure you have a homeworld on that map. Probably isn't the problem, but worth a look.\ Neeeevermind. Just checked the image. You have one.
[quote]First, mobile phase detection is nigh useless with awesome phase detection researches in the empire tech tree. Needs a buff: - increases phase jump chargeup rate for all enemy ships phase jumping into and out of the gravwell by 100%. Does not stack with PJIs. Second, Jump degradation should do one of mentioned below: - Take 20% AM off incoming ships (good idea - yay) - impose a 100% movement speed and acceleration penalty (game wise - it woul
Your English is miles ahead of my German, so don't be sorry. 1. Structures have very heavy armor. You are correct. Long range frigates (LRM, Illum, Assailants) don't get a bonus, but they aren't bad at it. They do 75% of their damage to structures, which isn't bad. 2. I'm not sure what you mean by defence platforms. If you mean turrets, they do no damage to SC. They do anti-medium damage. If you mean the hangars (not sure if one of them is called the defence platform o
[quote]I'm sorry, but this doesn't make any sense. You want 360 degrees nanite armor AND increased turn speed AND increased casting arc (360 needs increasing???) even though you already think this to be a powerful ability AND AT THE SAME TIME you do not want any buff to the most useless ability in the game® , namely the jump degradation and phase detection. I mean, it is arguable if nanites need buffing (they're already good, only a little unrel

@ Fuzzy Logic: Shhh...that's supposed to be a secret Only time I've seen it as practical online is to make room for an ally so he doesn't die. You've got 10. He's got 1 and about to lose it. You give him one of yours and you've got an ally who's still remotely alive.
At least we didn't steal our technology from the forerunner. The covenant can't even design their own technology. They had to make a crude version of it that a human AI had to perfect. (For those who don't know what I'm getting at read Halo: First Strike. My avatar would kill an elite with a pitchfork. Or with guilt. Or with a swift kick to the face from his horse. at least one military lab? Nooooooo, that wasn't me. Ever. Ok...maybe I Illum rushed occaaaaasionally, but my start was almost always determined by what was around me. Determined when and how I bought my labs. The layout of the map was the controlling factor in my decisions....not prepping myself to rush or be rushed. I shan't be suaded away from the fact that I don't like quick start. I can put my grievance in a very small nutshell. It wasn't broken, so why'd they fix
WOO HOO. I'm not the only one who hates quick start. I stand by my reasons. It only saws off about 10-20 minutes from the game, and it clearly encourages rushing and sweetens the reward for doing it, pretty much a multiplayer addition. You wanna tell me how quick start DOESN'T encourage rushing in 4v4's and 5v5's, be my guest. Games already take upwards of 45 min to 3+ hrs, so what's another 10-20 minutes at the beginning of the game? The econ tree finally becomes viable with

I don't think so. That's what it used to be once upon a time, but they fixed that in one of the patches (which I do not know). I know the Advent one was at least. I'm assuming that means they fixed the TEC and Vasari. Plus, I have seen it work. It will do it. Just not consistently. When it does do it though, it's immediate.
At level 2, you're supposed to have 1 extractor built, and at level 3, 2 built instantly, for free. Sometimes the ability will work, but other times it will not. I have a replay of when this occurred, if you'd like to see it. And if you're going to look at this to see if it needs a fix....could we also up the bonus from 0,1,2 extractors to 1,2,4 ;). Just a thought. I have an odd feeling I'm going to back and see I missed something, but this isn't the first time I've notice thi
Thump thump thump. You hear that sound? It's the sound of beating a dead horse. I didn't mean to start another Illum arguement thread.
Wouldn't that menace that's hunting the Vasari be a danger to all the races? Hence the suspicion that the 4th race added to the game will be what's chasing the Vasari?
I'm a bit perplexed why so many people who liked mechwarrior hated mechassault. Personally, I liked 'em all. Nothing quite like creating mayhem with a giant robot. Mechassault WAS Xbox live for a bit there. Mechassault 2's campaign was ok, but way too short. The online stuff, though, rocked. So much diversity. So much fun. Just hope the next installment brings justice to the series name.
I think what people seem to be missing here is that long range frigates never were supposed to be counter to support frigs. Sure, they can do the job, but they were never supposed to be the counter. Light frigs were. If lrf's were supposed to be the counter, they'd have the anti-support ability and do anti-heavy damage, but they don't. @Cykur: I think my agruement is that LRMS will do better against Illums than Assailants will, not that LRMS will beat Illums. LRMS still lose badly, bu
Before any Vasari fans read this and get ready to rip me a new one, I want to say this is just something that may not be a problem to begin with. Ever notice that on the occassional map neutrals will be every where? I mean everywhere. Like, three players will have 15 metal/s. Everywhere. Typically happens on 5v5 single star. I doubt this is a revelation, but that kind of map favors Vasari. On these maps, if you're TEC or Advent, you're going to have more trouble get
I'm a little slow to recommend ogrovs. Sure, they're antistarbase....but only anti-starbase. They can only target buildings and are damn expensive to boot. I prefer bombers. The carrier can outrun an orkulus. The bombers can target the support structures (like a repair bay, always take out the repair bays before targeting a starbase, letting a unit with 6+ armor heal is just a baaaad thing for you the attacker). The bombers can then take out an enemy capital ship if your opponent has
