actually, grim, i think you've hit on a key point here. skinning is becoming more popular than ever, and i think there are many who really don't want this. it would take away their 'in-the-know' / secret knowledge / illuminati only 'connection' to skinning.

about the most recent corporate analogy things.. i agree with that picture too.. but to clarify microsoft is the big fast food place stardock, winstep, hd, etc. are the locally owned little shops all the freeware devs are the guys experimenting to perfect the ideal burger, having lots of friends over for cookouts all the time yeah.. i like analogies..

no, it shouldn't really be noticeable at all. what version of windows and what's your hardware like? do you have anything else modifying your windows? any helper or addon apps for internet explorer [which can affect the os in some cases?] also.. have you done a recent driver update from your graphics card maker's website?

i've gotten tons of them, but norton has caught them all. the watchword on all this sort of thing remains pretty simple - don't open attachments if you aren't sure of them. even if it just seems to say *.jpg :]

yep, dave.. this is the most popular sf theory, and probably the most likely for how it eventually happens. the thing i really wonder about is how it will end up being implemented :] personally, i can't wait til they figure out gravitons and we can rip up the highways :]
