If the community is still fixed in their 5v5 ways, I'll just stick with TCP/IP with my friends.
In that case, I think you'll be pleased with the current state of Rebellion ICO. When 400+ people are online at once, it's easier to find and fill 2v2s and 3v3s.
Would it really be asking so much for one single AI discussion thread to not be met with a Sanchez crap irrelevant reply about how one should just go play MP instead?
It's a proper and perfectly appropriate response when someone complains about the quality of the AI. If you want to travel by car, then don't complain about your bicycle for its being a bicycle and its not offering the benefits of automobile travel. Li

Somebody necro'd this thread when it shouldn't have been bumped. The map pack worked in the Rebellion Beta, but they did something to the required format for the maps and now the game crashes when you attempt to go to the Galaxy Forge menu. Hopefully a cool modder named Harpo will release a map update for us soon.

Probably the same people who were the best before: John James (who knows what name he's playing under right now), Auqia, most of the rest of [DT], several BIA players, etc. The basic fundamentals of the game that they had mastered before haven't really changed.

I have several custom maps where teammates spawn together. However, we need to wait for a way to update the maps to the latest version before you can use them for Rebellion. (A great modder named Harpo is working on a map updater.)

It isn't just RTS. It's also any sort of map-based TBS. You have to expand quickly early on so that you have the resources you need to continue expanding and to do your research and to build an army and fortifications, etc. The need to expand and to balance expansion with other goals is a crucial element of the strategy in these games.
and I am also working om my map updater that will be able to convert the older sins maps (mapversion 0,1,2 & 3) to the new mapversion 4. but at present it is converting approx 90% of maps. the maps that are giving me the most issues are the ones with planetownerisrace, but can not figure out why unless it is to do with the rebel/loyalist name extensions which would be a PITA, and would cause those maps to be manually edited. harpo[

Does anyone know what I need to do to make older maps compatible with the final release of Rebellion? I didn't have any problem using my maps during the Betas, but now when I go to the Galaxy Forge-made maps selection menu, the game instantly crashes. I don't know if the problem is with the game itself or with something in the maps.

Last I looked, Enslaved Labor is still available--but it was moved to the Manipulation (diplomacy) tech tree. Here's a YouTube clip for you from a very funny cult classic movie that's probably way before most gamers' time: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cuo8l_njmuo Here's one of the funniest movie scenes of all time from that same movie: <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?

It's not a dumb question. Sadly, this game does not have auto-download for Galaxy Forge-made custom maps (as opposed the ones made with the "Map Designer"), so anyone who is going to play needs to install the maps.

I think the flagship is fine the way it is. Yes--late game you'd better keep it away from the front lines. The new optional victory conditions are a great addition to the game.
