The best and easiest way is to buy Object Desktop and subscribe to Wincustomizer for 2 years. After that just find what ya dig, click to download and double click to apply.Be sure to read other threads to avoid some of the confusion that comes with such a large and usefull program like OD.And of course read the help section listed on each App. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/sb.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absm

hello jane,I had some of the same problems you were having. After recovering from blindly using Apps I should have read about first,I now, the second time around ,started slowly and with great caution. It seems like a good place to start is Winowsblinds/CursorXP/wallpapers/icons.After you get the hang of finding what you like and downloading it and then applying it,I would then move on to Desktopx/Winstyles/Logonstudio.Not that any of this is difficult it just seems to go down a bit better wi

yes Aston is groovy but,,,Wincustomize is the dope!!Not alot to choose from there.Lots to choose from here.Aston never gave me any trouble. The themes are cool but it is no Stardock!!One time I waited 2 weeks before there were any new skins to even download. The price is not so bad so if ya can afford it and justify it why not give it a go.It still lives in my machine it's just on a lower floor than WC @ SD!! <img src="ht

hey Tom,go to www.wincustomize.com,choose edit my account, assuming you have one,and crossreference Stardock with WC.Also to get a new browser click on "support" enter your email address for them to email you your serial code.Check the news page for these and more info on this situation.I hope this helps. <

For the artists who make all this possible to do it for free is absurd. They are worth twice as much as there being paid!!I cannot believe people want it for free!!I call that the Mac way of thinking.Well, it does not cost that much for an endless supply of fun.The skinners are great at what they do and should be compensated well for it!!I for one find it very affordable.Keep up the good work and never mind the moochers.Tell them to do their own and then it's free!! <A HREF="https://www.w

Oh yeah, and about Litestep. If your anything like me,you can read all you want about it but I have yet to understand much. It's like it was written by the government. It makes sense to those new to this.It is not as easy as clickin away at all!!It will cause you downtime if yer not careful.Try to make sure nothing is starting with boot if yer gonna run Litestep.May gawd help ya ifn ya do. <img src="http://images.stardock.c

fantastic!!Most of what ya got there will work with eachother, desktopx, winowsblinds, cursorxp, objectbar. But Litestep is not as easy. When you get a theme you dig and want to stick with fer a while then its safe to have start with a boot. But do watch out fer the conflicts, they will freeze yer machine. Many who answer posts here are very good at what they do but I'm afraid they are at a level far above me and usually speak in terms I have trouble understanding. All that aside it's great to hear your m

also,go to your start manager and make sure these things are not loading with your boots.get them out of startup until you have properly configured. After a system restore I would think that would have happened, but in my case the programs were starting with boot and an active desktop.so hello frozen Xp.I uninstalled everything and re-installed everything and started very slowly that time.I hat to hear your machine is whakky!! <A HREF="https://www.wincustomize.com/index.asp?Cmd=full&NewsID

I did the same thing but somehow managed to recover and am using almost everthing except Litestep.Be very careful with Litestep.also make sure your not running an active desktop.i.e.,hidden icons. That is what kept shutting me down.try to start slow with winowsblinds and work your way thru the other options but try to keep track of where you are. Many themes will have you looking hard for your favoriye apps but they are there.in desktopx it is a right click. <A HREF="https://www.wincustomi

Thanks for your detailed response Jafo,I'm not giving up on it yet!!Just gonna give it a rest fer a while.I do indeed think i will get it.It does appear that LS is the bleeding cutting edge and poses quite a challenge. The themes and interface really do intrest me!I wonder if there will ever be a day when Litestep will download with a click and apply with a double click like much of what is available on the Browser??Thanks again for trying to help. <A HREF="https://www.wincustomize.com/in

Thanks snarph,You better lookout though, the Shell Idiot IQ squad will set you straight. They are sooo helpful and people friendly!!Such great advice and all for free!So far I have posted several very simple questions with nothing but negative resonses or no responses at all.The implication of low IQ's and not doing research before install and givin' it a go are way off base.I did everything just as it was written and presented.I guess a 5 year would fare better. <A HREF="https://www.wincu

I duuno Luke,Litestep froze my system on every reboot.I did do alot of reading before and after install.I also went to the Litestep website and joined a couple of forums to try and figure it out.I posted some very simple questions both there and here but only got responses to the effect that I'm an IDIOT and should'nt be trying to use something I don't understand. Please forgive my frustration because I really like the Litestep look and interface.I thought it was a double click kind of thing like

OH MY GAWD!!Litestep put a heavy foot on my butt!!Totally crashed me machine!!System Restore for me and things still aint right.I wish I had'nt dun it but it's too late now by looking at all that registry funk!!I would'nt mind seein them go away to give space to a more user freindly system.Leave Litestep fer the geeks,,eh!!??running XP,big-n-fast,,,until Litestep. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/sb.gi

Can anyone tell me how to turn my active desktop off? When I try to get Desktopx up and running I get a message that says to turn my active desktop off so desktopx can work.I have tried everything I know how to but no change. It says some specifics about the icon display too,but I tried that as well with no luck.Is there any advice you might give me?Windows Blinds is working fine but Desktopx will not display properly.Thanks.patrick <A HREF="https://www.wincustomize.com/index.asp?Cmd=f
