Global Bandwidth costs ~$0.10/GB and the Bell/Rogers already charge about $0.70/GB. They already are limiting your Bandwidth by speed, so this Metered system is actually Double Charging for the same thing. If they want to switch to a per GB billing system, then they have to unlock the speeds. As a Canadian I was just preparing to dig into our laws to see if double billing is illegal (I remember seeing something about it being so when I took law in Grade 12 & 13).

Thanks! Let me know how HiRes Pack 1 runs for you. It should be fairly stable for most of the game. Of course, you will have to play a while with Vanilla before you install it, so that you can really see what it does. [e digicons]:cylon:[/e] If we had a 1'st person camera view (which you only get during converstations) it looks pretty good, if you can ignore all the clipping. I will still be doing some work but based on their actions of late, I will n
Sorry for the delay, but it took a long time to hack my way back into my old account (aka - remember that you are supposed to use your email for login instead of nic). For those that do not remember me, I am part of DMG, but I left 7 Sins over a year ago to work on other projects. We had 48 hours notice due to a miscommunication so we have been working on this as a top priority. We were expecting the server group to contact us for confirmation that we would no longer be using th
This forum is part of Stardock's network of forums, which include all of their games, all of their software, WinCustomize, JoeUser, etc. These are not 3 million people on the Sins forums alone.
Oh, I thought that since this is an IC forum, registered to Blair, that IC was running it. Since they do not have anything else (like the forums mentioned for Stardock), I thought it was a good indication of the number of players. After taking a look at the sum of downloads for t
Since the quotes are not working currently... Annatar11: "The majority of Sins players never even visit the forums to know about the mod..." Really, then where does Member No.3,130,426 come from? If there are 3 Million members on this forum then there must be quite a few people that know about the mods. Even if it is a fraction of that number (I believe it is up to around 3.5M now) that know about 7 Sins that is still in the hundreds of thousands. As to the number of down
I apologize to my team mates for being absent recently, especially when such an important issue has arisen. First I would like to discourage the impression that IC did this on purpose, to limit modding. What happened is a programmer got a team together and they developed a game to the best of their ability. Unfortunately there was a lack of project definition and research which is resulting in our current problems. They did not define the entire program before writing it, and they
I remembered that running in 648x480 should do the trick, and it worked. It forces all icons and windows to resize/rearrange. I still want to know what the heck is going on with this thing though. That was something I had not thought of. I just ran a check for both of them and came back with no hits. All the Ironclad references must have been deleted last night when I took out all the other keywords. Well there you go. Doc's and Setting is the Third directory that they ar
Well I just spent a half hour crawling through all the registry junk that SoaSE leaves behind when it is uninstalled with their uninstaller. I swear that they only deleted the files, and did not clean up anything from the registry (~60 entries for the core program)! Since the Particle Forge is not an installed component it should not be modifying the registry, but just for the heck of it I deleted anything that had to do with the game. The windows are still messed up. Since both CCleaner and
Devs: I enlarged my view window in the Particle Forge by double clicking it, but it would not return to regular size by doing so again. I managed to get is smaller by dragging the side of the window but the top of it is overlapped by the file options bar. There are no window resize commands or options, so I am stuck with part of my view window off the viewable area. To make things even worse I must have moved the options box up while playing around with the view box. Now I cannot access part
I had to reinstall Vista Ult. X64 w/ SP1 and now Particle Forge crashes on launch. I have fully updated, have .Net 2.0. I have tried taking ownership, running as an admin, and re-downloading (as of five minutes ago). Sorry about the delay, here is a pic of the New Races icon.
Wow, how did I miss that one?!? Thanks Blackseraph! Dan's gonna have a fit... Helioforge, do you mean that they could be keyed to the viewer's browser language? What I set up was a multi-language description of each icon instead of having to include at least 5 separate languages for each area modified. These are not for the readme, just the splash page on the forums. If we can do this in a better way then I am all for it. So I am not sure if I understand (what you are proposing
Since this site erased an hour of my work when I tried to add a simple picture to a new post, I am double posting. I do not want to lose everything above. I am hosting the multi-language page on my own website [link="http://fouracescw.googlepages.com/files"]WWW Link[/link]. I will try to keep an update image of it for here. Here are some new Icons that we can use to display what changes are in each mod on the splash screens advertising the mod. This will help the non-English speaking players who would like to know what is in each of the mods, but cannot ask very easily. These are freely available to all modders to use and were created in the hopes that they would be universally acceptable, which is why they do not contain any 7 Sins material. There is a large and small icon each on their own
a Runtime Error which stated that SoaSE had requested that it shut down in an unusual manor.
No that is a system error. When SoaSE with any mod hits a glitch it minidumps or just crashes to desktop (CTD). As a modder I have seen hundreds of these with this game, and no runtime errors. It is most likely due to insufficient memory, so try reducing the number of AIs and size of your galaxy, in that order. It will save you a lot of memory, and will allow you to get farthe
Arakcheev I have never seen the ability to edit here, so maybe they are finally installing that capability. Let us hope! Shotman Unfortunately minidumps are still only useful to the Devs. You have to manually edit a file to enable logging and then send in the logs. They are text and we can read text. ;) Hegemon76 Research. Well it was either base them off a preexisting race or leave it blank. No one would play them right now if it was blank. As the new materi
Dan has found the real problem, and for once it was not the Black Hole. After it is tested a bit more I am sure he will post a new fix for it. The current fault will not occur in all games, and can happen at different times in an individual game. It still occurs in 1.3b so if you do not have it yet then wait, or if you simply cannot, then play on a small map. Thank you all for your patience, and doubly to the beta testers! Cheers!
OK, we have just identified that the Black Hole entries in the GalaxyDef is somehow confusing the game. We are looking at how it differs from the GalaxyDef I sent with it, to see what was changed and how that could be causing the problem. Check back later today. cmdrleeadama: Very Carefully. If you click on the BH and then hover over the ability icons you will see the ranges of the effects. The best way is to leave the gravity well. Wow, you were in the safest system in the galaxy!
Thanks Craig! The new tools are great, and the ability swap between binary and text files helps alot! Helioforge, you are one sick puppy. Although, it is possible to generate a holographic style checkerboard using particles. Playing would be outside the scope of the main code of the game. :d
Thank you for everything, especially new version of convertdata!
It does not compare. Vinraith is correct, try the demo. Also check out the mods so that you can get an idea of what has already been improved, and what else is in the pipeline. Both the developers and the mod community are making improvements almost daily, so it is worth a look. Cheers!
Well I have just concluded my discussions with IC and there is some good news. It looks like they are going to devote more attention to getting some tools created. Unfortunately this means that they will need to go through all the phases to get them ready, so do not expect anything other than the particle editor (PE) in the near future. I will not disclose when they hope to have this PE out, but it should be very soon. The unfortunate thing is that we have already lost some great m
Good call Annatar11. Let's keep it civil people, with no more yelling or flaming. TFL, we know you BC'ers like to spike your snowballs with ice, so it really would be a dethmatch.:d Here in ON we'll take the brews and head to the beach. Happy May 2-4!
Sorry for the Dbl Post. I cannot bend the site with my mind, clearly that's impossible. I simply must realize that there is no edit. I was intending to replace the above "modifiers, buffs, abilities" with the real title of the post which is "Modifier List - Add constraint, AI define,Triger Type". I was also going to add that the Particle Editor GUI is soon to be released, so keep your eyes open for it too. :CONGRAT:
I realize that by now you have probably figured this all out, but someone else may find this useful. ;p Depending on what you want to mod exactly in the game determines your tools. For basic tweaking you need to get the 1.04 reference data so that you will have text versions of the game's binary encoded files. With those in hand, find the "modifiers, buffs, abilities" post that is stickied at the top of the first page. It will help with the internal structure of various files.
