I dont see how people complain Diplomacy brought nothing to the table. Unless your playing 1v1, there is alot Diplomacy brought combat wise. I feel people are turned off b/c there no slap down unit in this expansion much like there was in Entrechment and
Today we had a minidump as the result of a desync. I had myself and others send in the file. The one person I was fighting that had a different version of the game (i.e., different user actions, not mods or revisions) did NOT dump. I hope this information helps.
You know, the problem just isn't credits, but that early game, your factories are likely on you HW, and embargo makes you produce ships slower and reduces the speed at which you can put up for factories or deference structures (assuming the fighters didn't take them out).
I've been in Contact with Josie and Matt Mason. They have several of the minidump logs now. In fact, we had one minidump today and I think a lot of us sent in the file.
Roger, resending now. Ok, sent 6 in 6 different e-mails. Hopefully there's enough data there to see any trends, etc.
Elrosh, despite playing with you, I don't really have a description of how you play because I've been next to you. See if one of your clanmates can write a review.
I've actually taught a few players. Problem is few of them stay around that long :( LoKi_ has potential though
I sent them a zip file right after I posted my reply. It has 10 or so files in it. I hope it helps.
I play Vasari best, but I play TEC pretty good too. I personally can't stand Advent, but I can hold my own if I ever decided to play with them.
You know when you play this game too much online when you're temporary folder holding the minidump files is over 1 GB. [e digicons]8C[/e]
It's been my experience that the Minidump file itself doesn't really help the dev team because it lacks information and you usually need at least two people to send them to be even slightly useful, but I guess I can flood their e-mail with them.
I can't say for sure what's causing it, but minidumps seem to be back. Whether it's a value not resetting when a game ends, an envoy tech set to random when it shouldn't be, or something else, I don't know, but it does seem to happen more often with envoys going around. Super-weapons, repulse, MB, and others are up for grabs too as to the cause.

But as you mentioned it would throw balance pretty bad, and disciple/scout spam would become that much more of a pain.

I still think the best way is to counter the Sova, not nerf Embargo.
Sorry, but how exactly do you counter the Sova? Even KNOWING that it's coming, you need a purpose built fleet that will be torn apart by support ships. Sorry, but it's ridiculous to build a whole fleet to counter one ship.
Ok, Blackhawk and I did some tests and the problem with the Sova Embargo rush is simply that any ship capable of catching up to the Sova gets eaten alive by the ensuing LRM spam. With that in mind what needs to happen is a reduction in speed while Embargo is active. I'm thinking to something around 350 instead of the current 525. Thoughts? Also, cooldown time needs to be extended, that or activation duration needs reduced.&nb
Speaking of posters, I remember when I bough Civ 2 that there was a nice sized poster that had the entire tech tree and stats of common units. I could get behind such a poster for sins.

Hawk, I have a quad core (Phenom II 940) and I agree with Yarlen that it helps because the computer has background programs/services running and one core can focus on the game. Now, on that front, having a high Ghz dual core is probably ideal for this game since quad cores generally have slower clock rates, but I don't buy a new processor just to optimize one game. Now, when Bulldozer and Ivy Bridge come out, I'll probably upgrade my computer just be
$100? Dang. My wish list: 1) A "3,000 games played on ICO certificate", with a gold seal. 2) A "I helped find the Mini Dump bug" certificate, with a gold seal. 3) A Vasari SB action figurine thing. 4) An Evacuator sucking a planet dry figurine thing. 5) A "Master of the Soft Eco" certificate, with a gold seal. And I'm spent.

Well, what I really meant was the MP edition, but I thought what I said was funnier. I'm looking forward to Impulse Reactor.

If we do, it'll be in very limited quantities and probably cost a significant amount of additional money (cause the cost of making it will be substantially higher).
You guys should make a "We've survived three years of ICO edition."

If you can find a way around that, I might reconsider..
I've still tried thinking about this but I end up not thinking of a way to do it that is simple and elegant and that makes sense. Perhaps most simply is to modify embargo to be specific to trade and refinery ships and leave it at that.
