Build 2 - 3 phase jump inhibitors, then leave the world, let the enemy come in with their fleet. Then jump back in to your world and kick his butt. He will be unable to run away for quite some time. Muahahaha.

Actually some very good sci fi authors pay the rent by writing books based on movies/games etc. Next time in a bookstore check out the authors names on TV series/movie etc books and the 'regular' sci fi/ fantasy books, you'll find many of the same authors in both areas.

Starbuccaneer....I want to get Mass Effect after I upgrade my video card. I was playing Warcraft 3 for a while until my other computer died. This is the new puter I'm using. :-D I bought a plain vanilla business computer so I could get Windows XP, with the plan to upgrade the video. Some years ago I played a lot of Ghost Recon, even belonged to an online clan. I bought Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter but I need that new vid card to play it. I also may reinstall Call of Duty United Offe

A boring ending....Well the best thing to do then,is never stop playing! Just Keep Playing or start another game! ;-D Or even venture into the alternate dimensions of multiplayer Sins! I havent tried this yet, but I will eventually. I remember losing a lot when I played Total Annihilation online. So, fresh meat here guys! Lol.

Nope Starbuccaneer, you're not the eldest Sinner here...I'm 52 and 3 months! :-D I started gaming with handheld versions of arcade games (Space Invaders etc) then bought an Atari 400 with tape drive. I got into PC gaming with a Radio Shack computer with Windows 3.1. With the arrival of my son we have had several game consoles. But now I'm back on the PC!

Just dont attack all 4 Ai, and let them fight each other. If an Ai attacks you then attack, otherwise leave them alone. Of course you can take on one ai at first in order to expand your empire. And I find its best not to take on two ai in the beginning if possible.

You can turn off the pirate raids when you set up a new game, which I recommend while learning. I got owned when I first played, then decided to set it on easy mode. Then I did okay against the Ai and learned the game as I played. I agree there should be a good manual. But in the meantime I prowl the forums and watch replays from other people. You might also lock teams in setup, so you dont have to deal with doing missions for Ai players to make them like you or be allies. Many new playe

I am playing Sins patched to the 1.05 version and I dont have these problems with enemy fleets. The AI fleets have several caps (even maxing out on caps in one game) and a variety of all types of ships, including HC (a lot of those too). I play against Hard Ai.

Well Skirmishers have better armor than Cobalts. It can also regenerate its hull. Other than that you had two capital ships going head to head. The Gauss turrets, in my opinion, aren't that effective at first except against siege craft, depending also on whether they are even in range of the enemy.

What just occurred to me is possibly sending in a small fleet of colony ships first (10 to 20?). The enemy will go berserk trying to chase and kill them. After they enter the enemy system order your fighting fleet(s) to go in. Once in the enemy system, send them along a path on the opposite side of the system. Run like heck. Oh yeah, maybe have 20 or so heavy cruisers dedicated solely to taking out the jump inhibitors, so you can get out of there _fast_. (Btw I would have your fleet set to

Btw I found that Youtube turns my avi movies from GameCam into a psychedelic display of smeared colors. Kind of pretty actually, but not if you want to see whats going on. So I just let people download them. ;-)

I went back and loaded a saved game from before I got Victory. Then I colonized the Pirate Base and voila! I received the Pirate Baron achievement. So apparently you have to do your achievements BEFORE you win the game. You cant do it after it says "do you want to continue playing".

I won a game as Advent playing against 4 Hard Ai and have been trying to get achievements since, at this point, that is all there is to do in the game. Now, I wiped out the pirates and colonized their base. Great. I should get the Pirate Baron achievement. But no, it says I did not get it in the achievements list. Why?? Is it because the game said I had attained "Victory" before I went for the Pirate Base? I tried for other achievements lik

I use the "=" key to speed up the game at times and then the "-" key to slow it down. It seems to go plenty fast after hitting "=" once or twice. Then there's the fact you can speed up parts of the game in Options. And a 4x game is not something you sit down to play "a quick game".
