Aside from a general improvement for them, I would like to see the the Jump Drive Relic replaced with something else entirely. Finding this in a single star game makes you bang your head on the wall, and even if you actually find it on the right map, the bonus still isn't very useful. Out of all of them, less than half are actually worthwhile.
First off C&C4 is going to be highly pirated too. They got rid of base building and many fanboys have already turned their backs on it.
Are you kidding? Someone actually thought the disasterous Dawn of War 2 model was a good idea?
Stripping out much if what made TA and SupCom unique is genuinely confusing. With Starcraft 2 and C&C4 due in the near future, you would think they'd want to remain as different from them as possible. As it is, many people are going to see three sci-fi RTS' get released in the same time frame. SC2 and C&C4 have large fanbases (C&C I have no idea why, as it's gone steadily downhill since Generals and backed by EA's nonexistant support), and will both do well.
The entire problem with Sins from day 1 is that LRFs counter LFs, caps, and defences. Basically every early game unit choice. Thus, to the suprise of no one who knows anything about competitive RTS play, guess what unit gets spammed almost every game? You cannot have a long range DPS unit also be so cheap and tough, or else there is no reason to try and fight it with anything else early on. Cap ship resistance to LRF fire is a small part of the problem. I really

Like I could tell someone I play Warcraft knowing it sounds geeky but I could put some spin on it to make it sound not so bad but there's no way I could tell someone I play STAR TREK ONLINE! apart from other gaming friends who would get it...
I don't see how Star Trek is geekier than playing with orks and elves.
The only thing that irks me about the pathfinding is jumping while in formation move. There's ALWAYS one idiot ship that refuses to line up and delays every jump by 45 seconds. Fleet formations are still terrible as well. Far too often ships will drop what they're doing and move back into formation if they venture too far, even if they're in combat and turning back means giving their target free shots in the back. As some already said, I'm not sure if it's worth the
Meh, I didn't have high hopes for it when it was announced as a multiplatform release. Now I can safely ignore it forever as I will not use Steam. Looks like Blizzard still wins my money for 2010 RTS of choice.
I almost broke my anti-steam boycott to get the THQ pack (all the DoW games, CoH games, Stalker, some other shooters; insane deal) when it was on sale for $50. If only Impulse had that, but I guess it's not possible due to DoW2 being Steam exclusive. Otherwise nothing new. Picked up a few used PS2 games now that local game stores are practically giving them away.
The only good virtual MTG games are the official MTGO and Magic Workstation. All the spinoffs have been terrible. I recall this one played more like a action/puzzle game than a strategy game as you would expect from Magic.
As bad as EA customer service and support is, they still manage to surprise me. Cutting online support on Madden 09? That game isn't even two years old. Why would anyone buy another EA sports title knowing that you are now pretty much forced to buy the roster updates new versions every year if you play online? Oh well, you can pick up last years versions for $2 at any used game store...
This topic confuses me. If you want it on Steam, why would you buy it from Impulse? It's like buying the PS3 copy of a game when you wanted to play it on your Xbox.
Starcraft 2, simply because there's been a void in good competitive RTS' as of late. Sins multiplayer balance is, and apparently always has been, a sad joke. Not to mention the community is barely a hundred strong at this point. DoW2 was mostly a flop, and Company of Heroes is getting stale. Time for something new that will hopefully be fairly balanced and have a large pool of players. Not holding my breath on Elemental or SupCom2.
Tell them to return it and get DoW2 DoW2 is worse than DoW1, but your milage may vary. To the OP, look for the Dawn of War Pro mod for Soulstorm. Superior game balance, greatly improved skirmish AI, and even a few new units added.
So I assume they gave Modern Warfare 2 RPG of the year?
There's no such thing as 'hardest' in fighting games, only cheesiest. Magaki in KOF11 was probably tops. Even with the continue cheats it still took many, many tries to beat him. Was so bad I never bothered playing that game single player ever again. Honourable mention goes to Gill in Third Strike. Yes, I finally beat him! Wait, why did his life bar just refill?! This is a joke, right Capcom?!
The AI should be far more cut-throat, like the AI often is in most good turn-based stategy games. It should be playing to win first, and win by Allied Victory only if they're much weaker than their ally. Regardless of how much it may like the player, it should be fully prepared to break all its treaties and turn on the player if it senses weakness.
Oh, I have no doubt Steam's huge sale is a direct result of increased competition on the digital download front. And I still won't buy from them, because it's Steam. I'm just saying if Impulse had half the lineup they had, I'd be broke this Christmas.
Sigh, look at Steam's Christmas sales. Pretty much their entire inventory is 25-50% off, all on the front page and easy to find. Impulse's Christmas sale? 95% indie titles. You're killing me here Stardock.
If fairness, sound card reviews in general are almost non-existant. They're in such low demand these days that even Creative doesn't advertise much anymore. If you're using Win XP, Creative drivers are fine. If not, there tend to be problems. Creative's support is infamously non-existant, so if the driver download size (most of it is optional components you can choose not to install) is your only grief against Auzentech I think you're making a mistake.
In fairness, if the game has some severe bugs then I don't care how good or bad the game is when it's working. If I hear the devs release a couple patches to fix things, I will look for more thorough opinions then. Until then, all I really needed to know is 'game is highly unstable, stay away'.
Random maps sometimes not providing a one-jump asteroid to every player is a long standing bug, but they've never fixed that either. Just because something doesn't get an immediate hotfix doesn't mean it's not a bug.
I was SO close to buying Master of Orion 3 when it came out. Within moments of walking out the door to go buy it. Praise all the gods that I held off for some reviews and checked the opinions on the forums first.
Even pretending this is a realism thing, how is it realistic that a beam does extra damage before the shields are down? The beam gets deflected/negated/whatever the hell it is shields do, end of story. Yet it still deals the 'mystery damage' no matter what.
>X-Fi Get an Auzentech card instead. It's the same hardware but with drivers that aren't complete ass.
Don't need a horror story. After the insane protection with Half-Life 2 years ago, I have since not used Steam ever again. There are Steam exclusive games I'm interested in, but I simply refuse to give money to a company that treats me as a criminal. If Steam basically needs to give me permission every time I want to play a game I legally purchased, then I will take my money elsewhere. If games on Steam were half the price of retail I could understand, but they aren't.
