Not on the UNSC ships, however, have you ever played Halo? The Chief does have shields because they have reverse-engineered them. However, no UNSC ship has shields, even though they have a lot more reactor power than a suit of Mjolnir. Why? Chalk it up to another one of Halo's mysterious plot/logic holes. I swear the story of Halo is a lot like Halo. One ring with a giant hole in the middle where everything that should be there isn't.
Hey When MC had planted a bomb on the main ship to attack earth. the Admiral and another guy drew the enemy forces towards the main ship so tht it can get destroyed.. Plus Captain Keys rammed his ship into a stealth ship...
That was acting as bait, not being a suicide bomber. There's a difference, I just don't really know what. And when Keyes rammed the stealth ship, it was like taking a battleship and ramming a frigate in today's navy. Yeah, the battleship
For those of you who have played Nexus, you realize it is a completely unusual game. It is the only tactical fleet simulator I know of. It has an unusual and somewhat engaging storyline, especially at the end it bogs down with a bunch of Artificial Gods and Angels and other crap like that worse than Deus Ex 2. If you haven't played it, it rocks. Sins of a Solar Empire is Sins of a Solar Empire. There is no other game like it. Same with Nexus, except Nexus is a
The UNSC Destroyer is the Iroquois (that's what Commander Keyes flew at the First Battle of Sigma Octanus where he demonstrated the Keyes Loop). And the Point of No Return is actually a stealth-coated destroyer, not a Prowler. It acts as ONI's unofficial headquarters for the really, really black ops, like the SPARTAN-III program.
Right. Rebels with a Death Star. Of course, the Executor never got quantum and photon torpedoes so I can't complain. Of course, all Darth Vader needs to do is trigger some major malfunction with the Force and blow the Death Star to bits. Or completely erase the minds of the firing control crew members. Plus him and a few apprentices could squeeze it into a Imperial Cubeship with a major Borg-pwning laser.
Whats the % complete of this nebulous mod we know nothing about. Who are the members, who is doing what, what is complete, what is left to do.... Oh and make a ModDB page for this as well. For a formal mod name, Sins of a Shivan Empire sounds cool.
If you were looking for a good photon torpedo effect, you should check out the SolarFlair mod's phase missiles. If you remove the trails then it seems you have a very good torpedo. Just search Moddb for SolarFlair, you'll find it.
Star Wars already has a BETA out with a seriously overpowered (or just perfect, if you follow the dark side) Empire. And yes, Star Trek needs at least once complete faction before release. EzraeliBeatus has his mod, which unfortunately loves minidumping on people. And I think Major Stress has done some ships besides the ones Ezraeli has done. Maybe not a complete Starfleet, but close.
to those who demand and beg. We want Bailknight's, Star Trek and Star Wars STAT! PLEEAAASSSEEEEEE???????
Well, those ideas were bandied around but nothing was said either way. so..... Plasma definitely not UNSC, I realize that. However, the Chief has shields in Halo and restricting shields to a tier 7 or 8 tech and restricting them to capitals or even a certain capital would make some sense. I mean, whats the point of reverse engineering something if its not going to be used?
What I was basically saying was that the UNSC has to be more tactical early game. Later on, they do gain techs to help even the odds out in their favor. I think shielded capital ships was one, along with some plasma-turreted ship.
If you guys have ever watched Full Metal Alchemist, you'd know thats the mark of the Ouroboros. The main enemy, the Homonculi bears the mark on their body, usually the place where their abilities center on. Each Homonculi inherit the name of a cardinal sin. At any given time, there are always seven Homonculi.
Isn't it also the symbol of the Church of Satan? Not that I particularly care, the mod being named Seven Deadly Sins.
This mod is meant to have asynchronous balance. The UNSC are very turtle-y, who may take a while to claim a planet but once they have it have it pretty much for good once they get a few SMAC platforms up. UNSC ships are bricks, even the frigates. While they can't move fast in either slipspace or normal space, once they are in firing range they are almost impossible to stop. Plus, UNSC ships can lay minefields to funnel Covenant ships right where the UNSC player wants them, inside the blast r
Midnightjoker, the FS2 models are already done. There was a tutorial in either this thread or the other one about how to extract the files from the FS2 SCP .vps's and through several programs export them into .mesh format. With that, all you would have to do is find someone to re-tex the models, because I think they have multiple texture maps, and Sins doesn't like that.
You know what I really love about Sins of a Solar Empire? Its the world's biggest case of Battle of Endor Syndrome, which cause its victims to go absolutely insane and create impossibly huge fleet battles, to the delight of players and the misery of their lagged processors. Oh, I almost forgot. BUMP
So a SSD with upgraded shields and photon + quantum torpedoes owns everything else?!?
Of course. You can't beat an Executor-class SSD. especially when it has the power of the dark side, courtesy of Darth Vader.
The orbital MAC's are already super-platforms. Besides one-hit wondering anything short of a Covenant capital from long range, they are hangars as well as repair platforms. They do it all. Kamikazi-ing isn't really humanity's style. Suiciding like that is a favorite tactic of religious fanatics, like the Covenant and the Japanese in WWII (they worshiped their emperor as a god remember).
yeah sorry i meant BFG. i got so used to DoW, that i just blanket the lot as Warhammer now
Yeah same here. Not with Warhammer but with other stuff. One thing gets really well known and overshadows everything else.
There's the Battlefleet Gothic mod going on. As far as I've heard, the Battlefleet Gothic game takes place during the Warhammer 40k universe. There's your best bet.
Well, not really. I mean, its orbiting a planet so the supply lines are already there. Just hire some dumb civilian to fly the equipment over from the planetary elevator. Besides if realism really was that important, you would need ammo production facilities on one planet, mines on another, trade ships to ferry the raw materials from the mines to the factories, and then ammo ships to move the ammo to the planet. Besides, mines and factories are already included as Civilian In
Yeah, definitely do Borg after the first release.
What was it that guy posted earlier? Can't find it. Oh well, I think it went something like..... We aren't adding the Borg because 1. Not in Dominion War. 2. Borg usually added because, well, you know... BORG!!! 3. Borg either canon and hideously overpowered and unstoppable, or seriously nerfed for playability and absolutely stupid because of it. Looking forward to this mod, and I can understand bot
Myself and Mazer have been messing around with ideas getting it off the ground right now. Like I said earlier, I'll take any recruits for the mod team. Right now we're focusing on getting a site up and ModDb. I'll also make some renders later on and maybe mod logos and icons.
There is another FS2 mod thread here. You should collaborate with them on this. Also, Hoho5000 was doing some work for a Universe at War FS2 mod. I think he has some stuff done model-wise. <br
On the Freelancer: Combat Evolved forums they have an emote with a Covenant ship that looks oddly like a Freespace 2 Hatshepshut. Is that an actual Covenant ship? The Tuhspehstah, a clone of the Hatshepshut with different textures?
Yeah. A possibility would be a self-destruct ability set to autocast at hp=1. Cost zero antimatter, cooldown = who cares? Anyways, is anyone actually doing a FS2 mod, or is everyone just chatting about doing one?
The Humans and Cylons will try to find out what went wrong.... and than a final Battle over Earth with Cavil and his Cylons
And the remnants of Earth show up with the inevitable superweapon. Humans win!
