I've noticed my SoaSE runs sluggishly in large battles or late into the game when I have a lot of trade routes running. I'm going to be getting a little cash back from the Government, so I figure I might as well upgrade a component of my PC. Given my specs, what should I upgrade and to what? Am I the only one who's noticed that the Marza's hull is held together with tinfoil, duct tape, and wishes? First off. If you let a Marza get to Level 6 in anything smaller than a multi-system game, wtf. Second - As I previously noted, Marzas are ALL FIREPOWER and NO DEFENSE. In order to keep one in play long enough to maneuver it into position for maximum Missile Barrage effectiveness, you have to keep at least one Dunov and a mess of Hoshikos on
I use my carriers against enemy flak frigates (especially in matches that are one sided in my favor) Fighters getting swatted decimates the bounty against you right quick.
In multi star system games... Step 1: Fortify your planets Step 2: Build Novaliths on as many planets as possible. Step 3: Set all Novaliths to autocast Step 4: ??? Step 5: Profit.
Perhaps I was doing something wrong. I clustered a handful of Flaks and some Fighters around my 5 Arcovas and sent them in to reveal the Advent homing mines. I revealed them alright, and even tried to manually target them with the flaks and fighters, but they just wouldn't fire. I ended up losing all my scouts and half my flak frigates. After that my standard policy has been to ignore the fields during the main battle, and send in a Kol with forcefield and Finest Hour
I was in the home stretch of a 3 system 7 player match with just me and an Advent AI left. The Advent still had control over half the star system we were fighting in, had a fleet rougly equivalent to mine (though I had more capships, they had many more frigates and cruisers along with a hefty number of drone carriers). I was prepping one of my two fleets to jump at a desert world with an artifact when a lone drone carrier hopped into the grav well, just in range of my 8/8 starbase. Th
Right. Two quick questions. 1) How do I get the ability to play downloaded maps? Where do I extract the .galaxy files to? 2) I'm trying to tweak it so that the Marza's Missile Barrage works the way it was intended. How do I edit the game files? Here are what they look like in notepad. BuffMissileBarrageHit BIN B u f f R e p l a c e W i t h N e w B u f f E x c l u s i v e F o r A l l P l a y e r s
Little known fact - this thread is 10x more hilarious when drunk.
"Billions died today in what analysts have called the universe's biggest friendly-fire mistake. When asked for a statement, Trade Emergency Coalition spokesman had this to say." "Our bad."
I usually forgo Cobalts completely, they seem to just get shredded in larger battles. Is there a point to placing them in the fleet? It seems to me that a pair of Dunovs would provide similar utility as their reactor sabotage at less supply cost and with the added bonus of shield restore and flux field.
Let me know how I can help. Like I said, all my modeling and skinning is crap, but I can help with lore/idea support and voice acting. And if one of the Covenant ships doesn't say "wort wort wort", even if it's very rare, blood will flow.
So, I just annihilated my own planet. I was playing a Free-For-All on the random-large-multi system map as TEC. I was launching an invasion of the third system, which was tiny and largely uninhabited. A Vasari opponent that had been giving me trouble had set up colonies in the system, so I ordered my battery of Novalith Cannons to fire on his planets in the system. Mind you, these cannons are two star systems away. When the warheads didn't impact and I couldn't find th
Big sentinels? Like the Onyx Sentinels from Ghosts of Onyx? Those apparently only exist on Shield Worlds, and as few as 45 of these normal-sized sentinels can band together and have enough firepower to vaporize a CCS battlecruiser. Normal sentinels are man-sized.
Swap out Sova with Dunov and you have yourself a decent combo. Though I typically prefer more capships with my fleets.
What level AI are you playing against? I've found that Hard AI will capture neutral resource nodes close by, but all in all they don't use colony ships all that much from what I've seen. And the Vasari scout ships are always on auto patrol, so they're perpetually out of antimatter.
I thought of something, you know how truth's dreadnaught was the last forerunner key ship well I really think it would be interesting to add Derelic forunner vessels that can be captured. They could have pretty cool designs since we only ever see the one ship. Just a thought I know ts possible because in Uzii's sins plus he had a reasearch where colony ships could capture derelic ships that were put in a special system type.dude that's a great idea! In fact I was thinking about how we cou
Transport ships with no slipstream drives. From what I recall from Contact: Harvest (the book is out in my car and I am tres lazy tonight), UNSC trade vessels were little more than a bulbous FTL drive strapped to a cargo container. Think starbase from Star Trek meets TEC trade ship.
Hey everyone. While I have little modeling and skinning ability outside of DoGa, I am a bit of a lore fanatic and have voice acting ability. So if you want me, I'd be glad to help.
I believe the Human-Neanderthal example proves that there will eventually be interstellar wars. History repeats itself. All this has happened before, and it shall happen again. Join the Navy. See the universe. Meet interesting people. Then kill them. Or we'll just build the Cylons/Skynet/HAL/DoomsDayAI #1759 and that will kill us.
Any counter that requires significantly more resources than the countered tactic is not a counter. The thing that actually counters the opponent in such a case is the bigger eco. When discussing tactics we should assume two players of roughly equal skill who colonized at roughly the same speed and hold roughly equal terf.
I understand this. However, the TEC has a SIGNIFICANT economic advantage over the Advent. Even with an "equal" scenario, a good TEC player will be able t
It was meant to be sarcastic. He asked how to counter LRM and Flak frigates. Kodiaks will counter them. ;p
If you're looking for moving capital ships, and I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'd recommend looking into the Point Defense Systems mod for Homeworld 2. But go with the 7.x series. 11.x and 12.x are just Harpoon in Space.
Go Huge-Multi or go home. ;p
Kodiak Cruisers.
Not sure if I should post here or make myself a new topic, but on the subject of supply costs. I've noticed that it's not about how many ships you have, but how many ships you can have. This makes it difficult if you, say, lose a fight (which happens especially on larger maps when you have to divide your forces). Where is the unused supply going? In my personal opinion, upkeep should be based on a sliding scale. Keep the research costs in, but make it so the research onl
