I tried this before a year and a half ago and had lots of conflicts with it. I'm hoping I don't have to come to doing this reinstall. I will keep searching and trying to find other ways to repair IE before I come to the decision of reinstalling XP. For a note IE 7 Beta 2 has been uninstalled. I tried disabling every thing in the manage add-ons window and I reinstalled Windows script 5.6. The yahoo toolbar is not installed, I removed that too because it was causing the problem. I probably should have put that in the first post, so that everyone will know that I did uninstall the optimizer and the toolbar. I guess I was irritated so much with IE not working that I simply forgot.
I tried that too, that failed on every date before it. I don't have too much good luck with system restore. I think it's only worked 2 out of 15 times I used it.

I did uninstall the win optimizer, it's one of the first things I did when IE started acting up. Also, how would I reinstall IE? I tried reinstalling Service Pack 2, going to the Inf directory and installing ie.inf back, and running some IE fix tools, but nothing has worked yet. I've tried everything I could think of. I've tried repairing the connection and upgrading to the beta IE 7 Beta 2. Nothing has worked, it's really really annoying since everything that relies on IE to work, doesn't. If anybody has any suggestions as to what to do, please feel free to comment. I use IE and Firefox interchangeably. Some things work faster on IE and some things work faster on FF. IE does start up faster than Firefox, though. oh ok, well, I wouldn't use the taskbar, but Object Dock doesn't show the startmenu the way I want, so I just use it to organize programs that are not on the desktop. But, thanks anyway.

Tooltips seem to hide behind the docks. Desktop X objects did that until I set the Z-order to desktop level. I could not find any option like that in the settings of object dock. Anybody have any suggestions? Here's an image to help.
oh, #3, it's MP3 ID3 tags that have the characters. Also, the gadgets/widgets that I'm having trouble with are "Arrow Player" and "Silica Media Player"(both the widget and gadget). They most use the built-in plug-in because my sample mp3 player does the same thing.
I have narrowed it down to why media gadgets and widgets close on some songs. Songs that have "[*]" without the quotes in their name will crash the widget/gadget and it won't be able to be opened until the computer is restarted. I've seen this in winamp, but I haven't tried others. The reason for that is because I like winamp and would not want to be forced to use another player just for a media widget/gadget to work. McAfee is no better. I used to have McAfee, but ever since it's own updates would crash the program, I've switched to Nortan. Only had one problem with Nortan and the website seemed to have fixed it. The only thing I don't like about Nortan is the fact it uses Window's Script for the main interface page (when you click on "open NIS" in the tray). Other than that, it's better than McAfee any day.
This gadget seems to exit sometimes when I open a playlist in winamp, this looks like a bug. It's not only this gadget, I had another one do the same thing. Anybody have any information on it?
