They were funny... especially with the IWHBYD skull in 3.... although I am glad to see the Elites back to being the bad guys... their super-macho warrior culture always prevented me from ever liking them. I'm a bit low on cash right now (just shelled out 120 bucks for Metroid: Other M and a pre-order that got lost in GameStop's works), so I'll probably have to wait until Christmas to get the game. But still, for whatever re

It's not exactly a PC game, but this seems like the best place on these forums to put this[e digicons]:P[/e] Note: This is intended to be a discussion about the game, not about how PC's are better than consoles or about how Halo sucks (if you think it sucks and have a valid reason, that's fine, go ahead and say it, but please, no "Master chief is teh gay and suxorz and stuff!!!1!1!"). So anyway, with that out of the way, here are my thoughts on Reach. Graphics:

Yeah, I'd be willing to bet your graphics card is fried. I also have an HP laptop, with an Nvidia 8600m. The 8600 has a known overheating problem, poor manufacturing causes it to overheat and eventually damage its self. Sadly, HP and Nvidia refuse to acknowledge this, even though Dell and Apple both replaced laptops for free that had the card. AFAIK, the 8400 doesn't have the defect (or it's not well known). I wouldn't expect any support from HP, in short.

Weird, for me it starts up in whatever the last tab I had open was. If it was the store, it opens to the store, if I was updating something it opens to the updates tab (even if there aren't any updates to install).

Just a quick update. I know I've been saying there will be a release before the end of summer, which would technically be today. Well, it's not going to happen[e digicons]:'([/e] Trust me, however, it will be worth it. I'm waiting on a couple models that you definetly want to be included. Hopefully I will have them within a couple weeks, then after I make sure they are working correctly and everything, there will be a release.

And going into Stardock Entertainment in Impulse, you see Sins listed amongst their developed games? Also I recall Brad and other people from Stardock mentioning "as we did in Sins" like they developed it. And they post in the development section of Sins f

Well, as has already been said, the next year is all Elemental. After that, who knows? There's the un-named RPG that was in pre-production according to the podcast Brad did, but the team for that is gone after what happened to Elemental, so who knows where that's going. There is also still Society that's been put on hold these last couple years. And there's Ironclad's secret "not in space" strategy game that Stardock would probably help out with.
So, it's a realistic-looking land-based game with animated humans and creatures; the "levels" should be "immersive". Hmm... it's not even clear if it's a strategy game, at this point it could just as well be a third-person console RPG.
It's not going to be an RTS. DirtySanchezz is right. One of the Frasers did an interview with PC Gamer a while ago. It's going to be an RTS, and it won't be in space. Much of IC came from working on Homeworld: Cataclysm, then did Sins, a
This sounds great, but I don't think it's actually possible to "unlock" campaigns in this manner. I'm still trying to figure how Book 1 does some stuff (can't find an xml with any of the conversation triggers or the like ) so I'm not ready to say that some kind of condition based unlock won't be possible, but the game just reads all the files when it starts, so if the Mery/Pippin and Legolas/Gimli/Aragorn campaign files are there, they'll probably show up from the start.
<
Kyogre, have you given any thought to the format of the campaign? Meaning, do you want it in the same style as Elemental's Book 1 where you basically play one hero (Frodo, Gandalf, Aragorn, whatever) and play the story from their perspective, or where you're more detached and participating in all of the story's events? For example, if you're just playing Frodo you'd have an extended Shire and Bree section, you'd miss Helm's Deep, assa
The original concept for elemental had something like this -- essence was the 'power' and it had to be invested to create a city. If a Sov created a lot of cities, that reduced his/her personal power. A Sov that only had a few cities had more personal power. Thus there was a balance between the large and small empires -- the large had relatively many cities but the sov had relatively little personal power to cast w
