I've seen it consume hundreds of MB, and it propagates through Windows various network support services as well. My point is there are digital distribution platforms (like Impulse and GOG) that don't require any third party client to run, so don't consume any at all. I prefer Impulse or GOG. I would hope that, even if you don't care because you have infinite resources on your computer that no game you
It may be free in terms of not having to pay money for the client itself, but it is not free in that it costs system resources to play a game you buy with it (that don't go to the game itself). I honestly am not big on multiplayer, and single player games don't require a lobby. Yeah, I know, there's a lot of fans I'm sure thrilled that GC3 will be multiplayer ... I hope its a side and the single player game
I have, yes, bought games on Steam ... didn't have much choice on Elemental. I could swear I remember Brad lamenting on the evils of Steam exclusivity deals ... and yet now Stardock seems to be releasing games exclusively Steam these days.
Steam is popular with devs because its FREE middleware. With game budgets exploding, timelines shrinking, etc anything 'FREE' and stable is a god send. Sure I could
Has Blizzard done this recently? I though they had shunned LAN gaming. :/ I miss the original Starcraft and BroodWar LAN parties.
SC2 now has a spawn system You stilll need to go online though and its linked more to their 'starter' versions http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/04/starcraft-2-adds-spawning-system-its-not-as-gross-as-it-soun/
Blizzard explicity had a 'spawn' system. And highly restricted spawn copies. They did not allow you to copy the game onto multiple comptuers and play
Gotta have some kind of physical edition. I'd hate for my other GC2 titles to be all lonely on the shelf. Island Dog, maybe some kind of jewel case artwork like was done for Twilight?
I'm doubtful, they were touting the fact that Sins had done extremely well WITHOUT retail release. Thus it seems logical they'd extend that to GalCiv3 and forgo retail for much better flexibilty in terms of release
Steam, by definition is DRM. Playing GalCiv3 will be restricted to only those who choose to sign up for the Steam service. Back in the day, you could play GalCiv1 and 2 simply by buying a boxed copy of the game and installing it. No one else was aware you had it except the store you purchased it from. -HM
You can use Steam, even have Steamworks, even have MP lobbies on Steam and still be DRM Free Dr
This is why you likely won't see a non-Steam version. Anything Steamworks that SD uses which is core to the game would have to be reengineered by SD to support a non-Steam version. I have no idea what the numbers are or if there will even be Steamworks dependencies, but asking for a non-Steam version isn't a trivial request. It would certainly cost SD some (and I'd guess a fair amount of) money.
Since when was "DRM free" mean you could steal the game? Want 2 friends to play, buy 2 copies Seriously wtf
I got it cracked. i hated having to do it, but the gold demo gets boring. i am looking to buy it though.
You don't really have the right to whine about a broken game when you stole it.
I realize there's a lot of 'baggage' associated with Elemental WoM However I feel that you should keep the Elemental name for a few reason 1) Continuity. They're in the same universe, so I don't see any issues with keeping the name 2) Branding. While few people refer to Skyrim as "The Elder Scrolls V" I think it's still important to have that universe have a coherent branding. 3) Long term dedication. To me it shows that your team is ded
Let me preface this that as a former OS/2 user, I can out-kook pretty much anyone.
Welcome to the club! Though man OS/2 was pretty damn awesome back in the day. I was even trying to run Gravis Ultrasound instead of SoundBlaster which was not a ton of fun 'hoping' some game was going to support its obviously superior sound. Eh the good old days. Have you tried running the exe as an administrator?
What OS are you running? Even XP supports the latest versions of DotNet. http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=17851 Supported Operating Systems: Windows 7, Windows 7 Service Pack 1, Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, Windows Vista Service Pack 1, Windows XP Service Pack
It looks like the impulse version you're running is older than death itself. I'm wondering if the issue is you're running a really old impulse so it's dying. Goto impulsedriven.com and redownload the Impulse (now renamed to Gamestop) application. This should be a later version and will probably be better suited to your needs Also Ultimate Edition is now available via stardock directly so you don't even have to bother with impulse. just go to <a href="
The ultimate edition on Impulse works the same way. The 'default' is Twilight, and you have to manually hunt down the other exe to launch specific expansions
You can expect it... RIGHT NOW! http://store.steampowered.com/app/202200
Regrettably Steam is bad at keeping secrets http://dedicated.heffebaycay.fr/cdr_test/app/202200 Not released but apparently in the pipeline
