@tymestar and LaFreeze Well, if you've ever played hegemonia (or haegemonia) - Legions of Iron or its sequel you would know how it is done right! (And it had things right in so many ways, just not in respect to diplomacy, trading or modding...) You could assign ships targetting priorities (hull, engines, weapons) so the small ships would target the weapons while the big guns targetted the hull, or you could stop ships by targetting the engines. I would wish to have the battlesyst

Well, it's not only a pitty for you max users. I'm using XSI for tangents, and have another winderful "bug" I've made tangents for the sharlin for the b5 mod which look fine in XSI! Ingame the lightning looks awesome, but the light is coming from the wrong direction. with the star shining at the front of the sharlin, the light is rendered as if coming from the right (user perspective)

Well, I thought to make a Program one time in c++ that will let you change a map so that the starting positions can be freely chosen (it should create a new map with the starting positions arranged the way the user decided) but that must wait till another day. It's been a long time since I last wrote a parser for a game..

Thanks for the offer, if it is the map that was posted on these forums long ago then I'm already using it for meself (and tweaked it to fit my desires - removed the wormholes and other stuff) - Just checked, that map was from Asharil - is he a relative of yours? I really like to include a tweaked version if thats alright with you (and harpo9999 - the original is from him isn't it?) or have three different versions of the map, from a small one to a gigantic one. The only gripe I have i

Another very important thing to remember is not to blindly research fleet capacity in the beginning, as it will cost you more and more of income. Every upgrade to fleet capacity increases the percentage that is deducted from your income. So upgrade gradually - you can never take it back!

When your are researching fleet capacity you may queue ships for production surpassing your current capability for fleet support (which then is shown as -xxx on the fleet support counter) In this state your queue does not get produced at all, not even to satisfy the current capacity. It waits until your research is finished and fleet capacity is >-1. Example: You have 8 capacity left.you start research for more capacity (a theoretical of lets say 128). your fleet cap

Well, we have to thank you (tim and time again). Without you - SteinerX - we wouldn't have all the team members we enjoy to have now! And your work is becoming better and better all the way. As for the Ambient Occlusion - this is an effect you normally get from Global Illumination (at much higher cost) Global illumination is a lightning model using radiosity where light is coming from all directions. This creates the effect that parts of the model that touch oth

@SteinerX You are always welcome! The more we optimise the UV Layout, the more difficult it gets bakeing AO into the texture. So I had to remove some parts from the AO bakeing to make it work. I think it looks quite good. Well, I think the new sharlin with your texture looks absolutely stunning. When I finally get to the point of optimising the Tinashi frigate, would you be so kind as to make a new texture for that as well? You are really talented and your work on minbari text

@SteinerX I have put a file for you onto dropbox - SharlinAmbient_Occlusion.psd It has AO baked for your texture. You should use it as an overlay for the cl using the blend mode multiply in Photoshop. It may need some correction at the end of the main mesh, but that can be worked out easily. Rendering took the last 2 days, so I hope you like it. [e digicons][/e] Cheers

Well, good it's not The Lost Tales, because I consider that to be utter *$%&§*§! Sorry, As for this ability, we would need to tone it down somewhat (one shot one ship might e a bit too drastic, since even the Victories ability does not do enough damage to kill a shadow ship in one shot - but that might change, lets see)

As most of us understand only english and their mothertongue (I think few of them understand german) lets keep this discussion in english. And please call me by my Nickname. I do think that shados will be able to take colonies, but I've not yet decided how to allow them to do it. Their role should e to mostly pull the strings behind the scene ithout haveing a huge empire, but when the time comes for all out war, they can help their allies and themselves using the shadow death

Fist, I'm using mongoose A Call To Arms as a reference, since it is easier to work with than B5Wars, because it has less complexity thus fitting sins better. Second, I'm not fully understanding everything you mentioned (might be my english, might be yours [e digicons]|-)[/e] ) but the most important thing is to not make the shadows the Uber-Race that plays like a piece of cake. I'm looking forward how you're doing at implementing the stuff you set out to do.

Thanks for the ideas. I will however keep tight control over the initial values and types of ships available. So for now I plan Shadows on only having the following ship types: Shadow Fighter Shadow Scout Shadow Stalker (Scout Variant) BattleCrab Young BattleCrab Ancient And also I plan to have some affiliate envoy ship (a Mr. Morten transport.) The Shadow Death Cloud Ships that might be added (but are not planned
