Geez - no matter what theme I've tried - even with Simplicity (which I /love/ - but the bar's a bit big for me,) I can't get Litestep's memory usage down below 18 megs. That's idle, just sitting there and doing nothing. Higher than explorer, on my system.

Really? I may have to look at it now. It's one of the few that I've downloaded, just haven't gotten around to look at it - I don't use Litestep often enough (primarily because all of the themes I try out wind up causing it to use /more/ memory than explorer!
