Crash in "Speak To" in Galactic Civilizations I Stardock Forums

I was just attacked and went to speak with the SOBs. I clicked on my Peace Treaty and GC B3 crashed to the desktop. I do have a SE report (my first). New B3 Bug - Hard Lockup in Galactic Civilizations I Stardock Forums

I was playing for several hours when, right after clicking on a news item about a planet in the lower right, my system locked up tight. I had to power off and cold start, scandisk, etc. I had just saved the game before the lockup. The debug.err file is almost 50K so I can't post it here. There was no SmartException report. I saved the err file as well as the contents of the data directory (in a zip file) hoping it would help debug the error. Please let me know if and wher

I too have an AMD Athlon and lots of crashes to the desktop. This is what I have to do to recover and resume playing: 1. Run RegClean (no errors most of the time) 1a. Wave chicken bones to the north ;) 2. Reinstall DirectX81b 2a. Wave bones to the south 3. Restart PC 3a. Eat any chicken left on bones while waiting for PC & Win98SE to boot up 4. Right after I clicked on the ok botton for the notice that a race had completed an econmonic center (I think that's what it was) I was dropped back to the desktop. Here is the debug.err file. Black Screen at Start of Resumed Game in Galactic Civilizations I Stardock Forums

I reinstalled GC and played ok for 2 hours. I saved the game, but when I tried to continue, I saw the non-Stardock logo (Strategy First) and then just a black screen. The mouse pointer would move but nothing else would work. I have to power off/on to recover. I verified the Dart*.dll files were in windows\system and ran regsrv32.exe on all 3 files.
