I thought you were referring to "activation servers" not "multiplayer servers". The problem of servers shutting down exists for every multiplayer game ever made, and has absolutely nothing to do with impulse. This is why it did not occur to me that you were referring to the multiplayer servers. The solution would be to release server hosting software with your game, as well as a server list aggregator with an easy to modify h
I'm not very happy about that part either. But as far as I know SD I'd bet they will see to it that we don't suffer too much from it and offer a patch in time before they shut down the server(s). If they won't however they'd have to fear the players' wrath which would be a considerable one. That doesn't make any sense. it would be impotent wrath because they would be going out of business for that to happen. that
It's not only the price, is how easy is to play a console game compared to how easy is to play a PC game. Consoles don't have drivers, installs or other things that tied to PCs. It's a whole machine dedicated to gaming, it's easier to make gaming a more pleasant experience overall. And from the dev front is the same, it's not the same to have to support a finite number of very well known hardware combinations than the hardw
Which actually makes Stardock more like Ubisoft than EA, except Ubisoft is applying their crap to singleplayer modes as well. I believe this little scheme of Stardock's is multiplayer only. Still a crappy move in my book.
with impulse you can back up a fully patched game into a zip file (which you are free to store on any media you want) and later use impulse to install it even if the servers are down. with impulse you can uninstall impulse and the game will still run without any problems. Impulse is not "in the same realm as EA", not even close. Impulse is less obtrusive than steam which is far far far less obtrusive than EA's crap. [/qu

Technically, in the strictest sense, this is true however in terms of Copy Prevention - which is Taltamir's meaning - Impulse itself isn't.
They arealdy do way more than play games. And sony and MS are clearly trying to diversify into whatever they can that dosn't compete with the games market.
Not only that, but in terms of Hardware, they sell at loss, except the Wii which is the only one that is actually just a gaming console. So even with high prices consumers get a good deal on the hardware and are forced to pay higher for software to make up that differnce.
Quoting DoomBringer90, reply 11 there's one benefit to having it through a service, you don't need to have the disks to install the game, so if, for instance, you lose the disks in a move or they get scratched to the point of unreadability you can still download the game. Pretty much all MMOs allow you to download the game directly from the official website if you already have an account. [

I've been playing MMORPG for years and all that really mattets is they have your account setup. Once that happens and you have your game registered with Cryptic, in this case, it doesn't really matter where get the client again. The benefit with digistore, I guess, aside from pre-orders, is they seem to have faster downloads.

The only reason why Elemental shouldn't be on a list with Civ is because Elemental isn't finished and released yet. However, in this case it's on a list with Civ V which is also not finished and released yet. I think it's silly to put games on the top of any list except perhaps a list of pre-orders anyway, hype or anticipation lists. I think the console vs PC wars are just a stupid. I've been hearing the same argument for decades now. It never changes. There's plenty of room for them
