OR, despite the bitterness here, it could be like some of the stardock people mentioned in that they only got a certain number of keys for that DLC, and as such, if they run out of keys, they might not be able to give you access to it. Whether or not EA will give them more keys, it would be irresponsible on the part of stardock to guarantee access to something that they have a limited quantity of when they're not the source. I love the first x-com though!
Well it was a remake of Colonization... and little else. More like an update using their CIV IV stuff. I am hoping a new X-Com will be just that, new and be strategy. Not interested in an FPS at all.
Betcha Legal or someone threw it on there as a 'just-in-case-something-breaks'. Not a money-grabbing scheme.
Just in case they can't give out more digital copies of something they can just make more copies of on the fly. Nonsense. I am not buying it. If it's a marketing scheme, it's still a money grab. Marketing is meant to drive sales which brings in... money.
Wee another money grab from EA. Please sir can I have some more?
I expect that Dragon Age will do well, probably is a good game but it seems silly to see players continue to hype it up. Let's wait until the game is out before we label it. Wow, what's the deal with Runic Games and Impulse/Stardock? I mean is it that painful of a process to get a game on Impulse?
I am laidback here and will await initial reviews (that will be very favourable cause this is a high impact game-its all corrupt) and more importantly I will look for player feedback. I have been burned with buying hyped games before.
Professional game reviews are a joke. You said it, the more hype the more corruption.
It's more the principle of the thing that cheeses people off. It's like releasing an expansion for the game the same day the core game released. It looks like it should have been part of the main game, but they decided to be bastards about it. In essence, yes, it would have been a good move to move the day 1 DLC back a couple months. At least then it wouldn't feel like you're being milked for more money already. [

For that I apologize - and apologies to DethAdder as well. But you're wrong about the reason why I'm frustrated with this. It's not because I can't convince people to convert to my line of thinking. It's the repeated posts of 'they should have included it on the disc' when it's been clearly explained they couldn't. And it's also been clearly explaine
Sorry if that offended you, but it comes down to this: do you think the devs are lying to you or not? I don't. If you do, that's fine. Then I suggest you don't buy their games any more. But until I see something concrete that indicates they're lying to us, I'm going to give them the beneft of the doubt, especially since I've had nothing but good experinces with BioWare to this point. And especially since they've given some pretty in-depth explan
Quoting DethAdder, reply 72 ...when in fact they could of just sold Dragon Age:Origins Period, everything included. What part about this is everyone missing? Unless you truly believe the devs are lying to everyone, the DLC (Warden's Keep and Stone Prisoner) could not be included on the disc. You get the Stone Prisoner for free when you buy a new copy. You don't get the Warden's Keep free. Why? Becaus
Almost seems like some of you would have been happier if the content in the DLC would simply never exist. I know that's probably not true, but assume that all there was going to be was the main game and that no mention of any kind of DLC took place and it simply wasn't in the cards when making the game. You would then not know of it to complain about it and you'd be on your merry way.
You are not even trying to
Well i have to say I love digital distribution. Even if it's the same price I'm glad to know that money wasn't wasted on packaging. Mind you I'm no treehugger. I would just rather the developers make the money rather than make something I'm going to throw away. I'm happy to support the folks that make my hobby possible. By the way it's not the same price you save on sales tax, gas, and personal time. <br /
Anybody else feeling like this?
Usually I do, at least with the more mainstream games. I was lured by price to try something different with Tropico 3, and now I am regretting it. When you get the disc mailed from digi distributors, is it a real copy of the retail version or something else?
So again, your rant is unjustified, there's nothing inherently wrong about DLC nor any inherent benefit to holding off for a big, full-priced expansion.
The only one I see ranting here is you. The rest of us are discussing the concepts of DLC. It's right up there with microtransactions in my book. They're not asking for a few bucks, they are asking for 7 and then they'll be asking for 10 and then we'll see micr
I honestly don't see what the big deal is in this particular case. Sure, if game companies start releasing games in an unfinished state and you have to buy DLC just to be able to finish the game, I'll complain too and what's more I'll stop buying from that company. But there's no grand conspiracy here with Dragon Age to try to sell you an incomplete game or to milk your wallet of every last penny.
Fair enough, o
Sounds like those with an issue here would not have had an issue had the game itself not been delayed until fall and instead game out last spring or summer. So just pretend and quit being mad about something so trivial. As for the extra "goodies" that is all just fluff and meaningless to the game. You'll have better items after the first hour of playing and will forget all about the speci

The fact is though that Steam has the ability to act as it's own DRM since you have to have their client running and be logged into their servers to play it(offline mode is a joke). Depending on the type of SecuROM used that can actually be more restrictive. I'm not really knocking Steam(I have close to 50 games through them), I just think publishers sometimes feel Impulse itself is not enough DR

One of the reasons I am a loyal Stardock customer is their dedication to a solid singleplayer experience in most their games.
I believe Brad mentioned an MMO at some point.
I do play MMO Games, at the moment it is LOTRO I have played and actually paid for City of Heroes and Everquest as well. I have beta'd several other games and passed on most of them. It's very hard to recommend MMO's to other people as they all have a certain flavor that might be enjoyable for you but not someone else. Plus, many still charge for software (full price even) which I still think is ridiculous considering the monthly fee. For me an MMO for 4x strategy games would probably
