I enjoyed Tropico 2 and Tropico 3 demo except... why bother having female avatars if there is not even a half-ass attempt to change the he's to she's. I mean how fking hard is it to use either gender neutral terms or change he to she's. Certainly not hard enough to justify not doing it.
Well like I told my sister, who picked up her copy of it today at a local gamestop. There is something messed up about people being able to go get it on a whim and those who pre-ordered online for digi copies not getting it till a couple of days after. I don't do pre-orders myself, but seems wrong. Besides that, the employee at Gamestop tried to convince her not to buy it. Said it was a rehash of the first one... which I think it is. I wish they had done a lot more with the sequel than update
For clarification... Impulse provides account-level protection by restricting access to the download & updates to users who have a valid registration on their account. GOO provides activation protection on the game executable. This is the same activation system used by all of Stardock's titles. This is an extra bit of protection to ensure that the copy installed and run is valid too. If you get the ga
I'll admit. I am a little confused about this GOO thing now that some of the games say their copy protection is Impulse Goo. So if I order Majesty 2 from Impulse, for example, I would have the copy protection of Impulse plus the added DRM of GOO on top of what Impulse does already? If I ordered Majesty 2 retail, the copy protection is Goo but not linked to Impulse? I mean Impulse and GOO are not one in the same right? If I order it from Steam, it looks the only DRM for Steam i

I am not sure what the issue is when this happens. This page loads but not completely. There's no error message or anything. The bottom portition just doesn't appear. IE8, happening on the desktop and laptop.
Those games also functioned very differently, Civ4, Colonization etc operate in very simple terms. You have a flat world with each square pre-defined as grass/hill/water/etc and the only updates needed between clients is basic information about unit types, square improvements and the like. SMAC is a bit more advanced in that regard what with there not being hill squares but instead the landscape being completely mallable with terraforming and the

The amount of information to exchange is atrocious, terraforming data such as terrain levels, the effect the new hill has on rainfall, unit movements, combat resolutions, forest/fungus spread etc etc etc. This all has to be calculated on the host and then transmitted out and back to make sure everyone is synchronized properly. Turns take AGES when just one person is slow. Elemental is going
This hasn't been mentioned anywhere yet that I've seen, and it wasn't part of the official presentation. However, there was a bit of a ruckus on the forums recently after Brad mentioned that they might filter out people with very low upload bandwidth on the Stardock servers. At PAX, a question was asked if people would be able to host their own servers and the answer was: YES. Stardock will provide their own servers where they will be able to guaran
EU3 has been around for a good awhile. Has a fine community. I don't know if you seek out asses or they find you, but if you have a problem with a player, don't play with them. Stardock can't spend all it's time trying to hand hold players from accidently encountering someone who wants to ruin a game. There isnt' a game out there that is so handicapped and restricted that some dick can't come in and ruin it. Multiplayer is indeed a different
What happens when you are not playing with friends and someone keeps pausing and unpausing the game every 30 seconds (because they are mad, immature or whatever)? What if the game has progressed to a point where there is simply too much to do and 30 seconds is not enough time to do it? Multiplayer is a totally different breed of game, one where you cannot assume that all players will cooperate and refrain from exploiting the rules.
Pausing doesn't really work very well in multiplayer games. It introduces deadlocks, permission issues and an overall disruption of game flow. There's a very good reason why most Neverwinter Nights multiplayer games disable the pausing feature.
EU3 has a pausing system where only the first person can unpause for the first 30 seconds, I think, and then after that anyone can. It keeps a game from deadlocking, and if
Wel if you have never played multiplayer, I am not certain why you would try to comment on it. In multiplayer, the AI typically goes first, it reacts first. So if you have a player unit and an AI unit adjacent to one another during a period of war, that AI player is going to react before you even get a chance to click the unit. Same with religion, if a player researches a religion in the same turn the AI researches it, the AI will get the rel
Well Civ IV is clearly simultaneously turn-based. Yes, you are all acting at the same time, but there is a turn and you have to wait until everyone is done for the next turn. I've never played Civ IV multiplayer, so that may be different. Civ IV single player is strictly turn-based, with each player having the exclusive right to move during his turn. This opens the door to abuse of the system, by using tricks such a

Yeah I like the explanation too. I think for multiplayer thought it would have to have a set speed for any combat involving human players... and I am wondering if this is going to be just a 1 vs 1 type battle setup or something like Age of Wonders. I think the Age of Wonders series actually allowed your allies to join the battle, sometimes even after the start of it... if memory serves me right. Anyway, i guess that's a different topic all together.
