I still go back to the games I view as classics now and then ... warcraft 3, age of empires 2, space empires IV, myth, marathon... Its early, but Elemental has potential to fall into that category. Enthusiasm hasn't really disappeared here. Actually if anything it was buying the game, realizing it was half finished, then realizing I could influence the direction of the game because of the Dev interaction on these boards and the strong mod

This is stupid. Assassin's Creed 2 is almost masterpiece in gaming's world. But these kids with unknown stupid principles rate this game very low. That's why I don't trust any reviews.
It's stupid to claim its just kids. Besides, after Spore, I support any reviewers
The game is so crash prone that I actually wound up making a NEW CHARACTER in open beta (which was actually a demo, I mean they explicitly barred open beta users from submitting bug reports so it was never intended to be a 'beta') so I could attempt the starting quests again. Release fixed very little about the crashing. The control scheme is completely out to lunch and they made no effort to come up with an intelligent system for the PC

For marketing they should go for a viral marketing plan on youtube or something of the like. Or simply hitting up all the game websites and make themselves known.
3. Some games just get a pass due to their name. I'm looking at Final Fantasy 14 as an example. This review talks about what is flat out dealbreaker stuff, but gives it over 80% despite that. I mean, how do you end a review with "We can’t recommend that you spend $50, and then $12.99 a month after the first 30 days, on a title that has as many flaws as FFXIV does" and give it 84% at the same time? (Final Fantasy 13 got

The reason I don't pay much attention though is my opinion generally seems to conflict with most reviewers/gamers in any case - though I suppose they are useful for learning more about games but in general those arbitrary numbers at the end of a review mean nothing to me.
I'd be happier if the number system were either removed entirely or something else took its place.
I personally don't pay much attention to either.
Well they both have advantages and disadvantages. You've got fanatics that will give anything attached to their favorite series or publisher or developer a ten, and you've got pro. reviewers knocking down games for reasons the fans actually like the series. I will certainly say between the two, I've managed to save my money and not wind up with a game like Spore.

I had my reply written up, and then I realized I needed some clarification. How are you defining a reviewer versus a user? Most reviewers, though not all, are also users for one thing. Are you talking professional reviews? Reviews on amazon. When you say player consensus, how are you getting that consensus, a couple guys on a board saying this game is great or something else? Thanks.
I don't own the game, but didn't they release a number of large patches (for free) that severely improved upon the game?
Well that would depend on how you look at it. I believe the large patch installed luxury items like buses which should have been in the game in the first place. I think they had to fix the issue that single player had to phone into MC's servers each time too. If anyone is serious about XL or 2011, you cou

The game was garbage and now completely abandoned. The new company continues to sell it but they have no intention on building on the game at all and what they call support... Their focus is on City XL 2011. It's close to a crime that City XL is being sold at all. 2011, who knows. I mean it is a new company, the old one took a nose dive after this disastrous release, so 2011 might be okay. I am skeptical though.

You get higher scores to make them surrender and put down a gun. So the point of the game is not to shoot anything. That product includes the game, the servers, the DRM or anything else attached to it. Let the pros focus on the game and ignore things like the price and value and delivery systems. As far a

But if they're not going to buy it because of Steam, they shouldn't post a review at all, because other customers are looking for reviews of the game, not Steam; they already know it's on Steam a
