Yup good points on Armistice, group shield, etc. A warning would at least allow you to use abilities like that. What happens with Armistice and Wail currently? The damage is applied in the well where Armistice is but comes from a different well. Even if Wail was switched to the same well as the temple, does Armistice result in the Advent just sacrificing a planet for nothing?

[quote who="Seleuceia" reply="8" id="3217226"]Maybe there's a misunderstanding...for me, "warning" is an effect (particle and/or sound, but preferably both) that indicates an ability is being used...for example, when an SB uses RB, there is a short delay time and a particle effect....granted, if you aren't looking at the gravity well you won't see, but if you aren't paying attention, your loss... Again, I'm coming from the mindset that wail should only affect th

Because the more you limit Vasari Starbases, the more Vasari players have to use actual skill rather than rely on cheesy OP units/mechanics, and that just wouldn't be fluffy for such a technologically advanced race.

I'm not sure what the point of a warning would be though if it was changed to the same well since the damage applies to any enemy ships anywhere in the well. Unless the delay was long enough to allow you to phase jump out. In which case, it would be a pointless ability. I guess the warning could at least alert you that you suddenly had a lot of excess fleet supply to put to use again...

Stripped to the Core changes were good, thoughtfully done - helped balance VL a lot more. I'm hoping VR Starbases will also go this route of StarClad taking community feedback for additional balance changes because the 1.04 ones were pretty ineffectual. Unity Mass change on Coronata gave one of the lesser Titans some needed oomph. Only played Huge Ring Map of the new ones so far - 99 planet big with central sun connecting two pirate bases. It gives a pretty epic se

It's a shame they dropped the idea of doing a beta for 1.04 - we could've at least had a chance at some more changes.

Dirty - that argument could be used to justify removing Vasari phase stabilizer jumping - it ignores all the rules of the game in having to jump from 1 well to another in a row and breaks "rules" of mobility the other factions are stuck with. It allows them to ignore any static defenses/front line positions and jump instantly behind the front lines. This affects the gameplay 100X more than Wail and has been in the game for much longer. It just got enhanced in Rebellion with the VL Titan abili

I still remember when the balance topic came up at release of Rebellion and people were strongly arguing against any fleet supply cost added to them because no other starbases do. I'd say once it straps on phase jumping engines and launches to a new grav well, it's no longer a starbase, it's a ship (or Titan wannabe) so it makes no sense that it doesn't cost fleet supply.

I no longer feel like Wail of the Sacrificed needs to be nerfed personally. In a game where one faction has the Deliverance Engine and another has a gun that lets you shut down all planetary structures and ignore all the rules of the game by leaping all the way across the map any time you please to attack a HW and ignore space-time in general, it seems acceptable. I think other changes would need to be made before Wail would be next in line for the nerf hammer.

Jim, I think it's been fairly obvious to many for quite a while that a 4th race, the one the Vasari have been fleeing from, would be the focus of a Sins2. Ironclad devs have just said they are "not finished" with the Sins franchise as far as confirmation at this point though. The thing I'm curious about is if it would be designed as another diluted SP-MP game features wise, if they would put more meat into both, or if they would just focus on one or the other (in which case it would f

VR in a 5v5 eco spot will now have an even easier time in lobbing out SB after SB, but aside from that it will be more prohibitive in most starting positions. Be interesting to see on ICO on Tuesday. For AL, the Fury of the Unity change is nice but for that high tier a tech it still is underwhelming considering it needs culture, which sadly wasn't addressed at all. I was hoping there would something, anything, to buff AL's ability to spread culture. The Coronata got a huge buff, givin

Thanks for the replies - they've shed some light. Keep in mind, I'm not talking about this as any kind of true alternative to trade ports - I'm just interested in its economic benefits for the AL early game - long term trade ports are clearly superior. Bilun, your point about spending too much on culture early and getting rolled by superior fleets caught my attention though. It's obviously going to take some judgement, scouting, timing, and basically juggling when to g

So, I'm interested in trying out more with the AL as I'm getting a bit bored with just Rebels. Two recent games went really well in using early culture temples and confluence of the unity to boost economy rather than tradeports. I'll be the first to admit, knowing the numbers under the hood in this game is not my strongpoint though so I'm not sure if it was just placebo effect of getting a good starting position and having a fairly easy time vs. opponents nearby or if there&#3

Yeah Titans (and corvette masses) have really overshadowed more capital ship heavy builds. I'm a little ashamed to admit there have been a couple cases where I've actually intentionally let my capital ship die by sticking around too long if it allows for finishing bombarding a planet, colonizing it, and opens up the capital ship slot for a Titan to start building that much sooner. Especially as Advent, I'd like to try out more capital heavy builds with the new Rebellion one (

The Huy Mac Attack: His annoying caps lock trolling aside, he likes to go 4 carrier caps (with an offensive SBs to follow) as Vasari now I've noticed and I was wondering what thoughts are on the best counter. It would be fun to counter troll that with 4 carrier Advent caps as they can host more strike craft and have the psychic push ability. I think Skirantas have a repair cloud though (?) and am not sure on their health/damage output compared to Advent carrier caps. I'm als

Yes, I know that's the one case where it could be earlier and I didn't bother to mention it because I don't think it is OP at all in that situation. It's already a situational ability - for earlier use where there's still large frigate fleets, it's even more situationally situational - like probably less than 20% of games? Don't go raiding eco slot AR players blindly...they can just as easily have put the money into a Titan earlier and mulch your frigates. Raid the
