Right, haven't thought of that ;). Hm, I could add this to the graph.

Hell anything he says about demigod is money related. So yeah, wohoooooo, they MIGHT make a sequel instead of supporting demigod 1
Stardock is the publisher of Demigod 1 and pays for its support. It's not up to GPG.
Is this game dead already?
No, though there was a sudden dip in players one week before August, for some reason. It cut the already low player base in half.
No, I'm not trolling.
I would call it a partly spiritual successor and not a Sequel ;).
And of course every retail game with Steamworks has the word "Steam" written on the box. So it already exists in the offline world..
The American box version of Supreme Commander 2 did not have Steam or SteamWorks written on it. The European (or "Rest of the World") box version did however. Maybe it was a simple oversight for the American box.
I like a combination of both types, for a game like Elemental, just like in R.U.S.E. :)
I think that's not entirely correct. SteamWorks isn't free as in freely available to anyone to include. Developers have to apply for a SteamWorks license and only after Valve approves it they are given the SteamWorks API to include it in their games.
You get it either "at VALVE's discretion" or with an Unreal Engine 3 license. Characters like Reg, QoT, DA, etc can't stop anyone from consuming a pot, sigil, or locking a flag, and are at a huge disadvantage.
Demon Assassin can swap.
Would you trade HD Graphics for Gameplay?
Yes ;) Although Kirby's Epic Yarn was voted most beautiful game on E3 by Gametrailers.com
Settlers II on the DS is also not that bad.
Steamworks is modular, if you will. The DRM is in fact a part of Steamworks. Developers can choose which parts of Steamworks to implement, but from what I've read (and experienced), the attractive middleware features (matchmaking, achievements, etc.) require that developers use the Steamworks DRM component, hence the lock-in concerns.
Of course, but VALVe isn't forcing the game developers/publishers to use SteamWorks. Unless you interpret '
SteamWorks isn't tied to the Steam shop. VALVe usually offers a standard distribution agreement when giving away the SteamWorks API. SteamWorks is free to use and most developers/publishers also sign on the distribution agreement. So far there is only one exception. During the development of Supreme Commander 2, GPG had to decide which online multiplayer platform should be used. Their options were basically their old GPGnet client, Games for Windows Live and SteamWorks. They decided t

Are you "Ok" with not being able to play your games because you got stuck somewhere with crapy internet capabilities? In this situation consoles dry up too don't forget and you won't have any PC games without a strong internet connection. You're Ok with that? I'm not honestly. Maybe I'm old fashioned but I like having something to put
So what would happen to all the games purchased online when the provider goes tits up or the business is taken over?
Intermediate solutions will be found and at the very least, you will be able to play your already downloaded games in Steam offline mode. SteamWorks games will not work anymore of course, but that's not that different from any other game, where the multiplayer system goes down.
