now... could someone make a "all wormholes lead to rome" type map where every player has a 1 way wormhole to an otherwise unreachable system? That might be a cool map... that might not required modding... (but would require people shareing the map... which is a PAIN because of no auto-download... *hint* *hint* *CoughCouIRONCLADghCough*) "strange portals to another point in space far outside this galaxy have begun popping up in this
Moral of the story: It's not over 'til it's over.
Damn straight... completly off topic... but once I played a 2v2...(on foreign Invasion) for where both our allies dropped out early (but mine dropped first by a nice little (enough) of a margin)... I could go into the details if anyone is intrested... but... mid-way though his ai ally managed to

So... I was playing a 1v1 on multiplayer... on one of the 1v1 maps... and the map is perfectly balanced... on each side of the map there is 1 roid, one desert, one volcanic, one ice for each player... and then there are 2 neutrals and a pirate base on one side, and 3 earthlikes in a nice curve around the star... It was a great game... but... he eventually won... why? well... there were other things going on that contibuted*... but the main reason I lost is sim

YAY, some people actually like my idea! Shadowhal: I have a feeling that research could effect the sliders, like... devlopement mandate (4+ logistics slots) would definate do something... (towards central planning maybe?... or maybe... you need to be close to central planning in order to reserach devlopment mandate... that might be intresting... multiple research alternatives depending on your government... herm...) and I am also sure moving the sliders c

Hey... (sorry if this has been mention before) have you all seen Hearts of Iron 2's diplomacy screen? its preety awsome and you can do alot... but one thing i found really cool is thier sliders... Basicly, for your government, there were 5-6 sliders for different parts of your government... A slider from Free market to Central Planning A slider from Left wing to Right wing A slider from Draft military to Standing Military A slider from Hawk to

ahhahah! they are mean!!! the next expansion for Sword of the stars comes out in less than a week! Now I am torn... but the ultimate edition just to have it out of date, and having to buy a prolly $9 expansion pack... or wait for the 'ultimate++' edition... either way it will prolly end up being $20ish... haha! edit: oops, did some research... numbers changed.

You most definatly should be able to pick your flag ship if you got 2 ships of equel level... not sure about extra ablities... but at least for flavor... Captain Cigarzincetten of the Flagship Marza Dreadnaught TDN Fluffy reporting for duty sir! Although... it would be an intresting mod idea if you could give your flagship (lv 5+ only maybe) (pick one) infallable jumpdrive or immune to disables(ion bolt, phase out

Did you all lose sync or something? What is the version? 1.15 had issues with saving replays if I remember right.

suprised no one has looked at star control 2 yet... http://wiki.uqm.stack.nl/Table_of_planet_types (spoiler free if you havent played star control 2... in which case WHAT THE HELL IS YOUR PROBLEM) http://wiki.uqm.stack.nl/List_of_planet_types (slightly more indepth decriptions (but less definate) of each of the planet typ

mmm... tec's caps are better. I mean... a lv 6 marza can OWN an entire fleet... (or, at least the lmfs, lfs, and some of the support cruisers) and an lv 6 colony can save your fleet... (expecially if they focus fire on your marza, the meanies)

This thread has gone on for 11 pages... and no one has even bother to mention what the game is "missing" Really people.... fail. *sigh* Dont you all remember the whole, oh, we would have like to put in a whole lot more than (the marza saying) "Time to kick some @$$", but the ESRB and all... He added that there was content taken out for reasons such as the ESRB that he would love to release without "stirring up trouble." F

looks intresting. maybe sites like the home of the underdogs or abandonia might have it. some other good story-lines... check out starcontrol 2 (most famous space adventure game out there) and Outpost 2 (meh gameplay, but after every mission for each of the sides, you get to read a new chapter of a novel) google em, they are old, but both are "set free"

If I get a small fleet of 3 lv 6+ marzas, I name them Fluffy, Fuzzywuzzy, and Mittens... Just something about 3 captains who talk like they have chainsmoked cigars since they were 10, piloting uberpwn ships... the irony is perfect. Be perpared for overkill, jumping in to a system near you. (almost never in multiplayer... but it happend once when pirates were on, and i was eating them up)

quite often i see like 8 people suddenly join the lobby, and then quickly leave... I am assuming they are starting a new game that had been aranged ahead of time? Are these people pugging? and if so, where do they come from? cause it seems like these are the games that ought to be played, sort of thing.

1.16 If LMFs were a bit slower (so they could not chase), LFs were slightly faster and turned faster and shield mitigation. was redone so it better fullfills its purpose(preventing focused fire) Capships wouldnt die stupidly fast to FF, and a player would need both LFs and LMFs in the early game, because using only LMFs would mean that they would be expanding slower (since it would take more time for the LMFs to get to the next grav well). Slower LMFs woul
i, personally think that shield mitigation, while was designed to sort of punish focus fire... doesnt do it very well... The problem is that, in practice, focus fire just makes mitigation reach its cap sooner. Even small amounts of damage, given enough time will cap out their target's mitigation eventually. Hell, send 3 cobalts to a neutral asteroid gravity well and order them to attack the militia. They will

ya... in sort of my side idea... i was thinking that close ships would donate both some of thier shields and midigation to the ship getting pwnt, but a ship on the edge of a group (or a lone ship) would be... well, left without support from other ships, and, since its "flanked" it would not get that sort of bonus. Your point about mitigation lore is a good one... the problem is... is that flacks (anti-verylight) and kodiacks (composite), both do autocannon dmg... which

i, personally think that shield mitigation, while was designed to sort of punish focus fire... doesnt do it very well... and instead of bute-forcing an + in the midigation cap... a more logerithmic sort of mitigation would be much better. Right now, it doesnt matter if 5 or 50 ships are focusing fire on another ship, hte shield midigation jumps straight up to the max and stays there till the doomed ship goes boom (or, if the player is paying attention, runs away).
