Back in the earlier civs like 2 if you had a high level unit in the right spot it could kill anything that attacked it. And, does anyone remember that one scene in baldurs gate 2 where you are in the underdark and run into a party of adventurers. When you encounter them control is taken away and you talk with them for a bit, eventaully gi
Forum go BOOM double post.
Thats a real problem with games that use something from real life, we demand that they behave as they do in real life. To the point that a good set of rules can't be included because people will complain when their battleship gets defeated by the phalanx. Yes its annoying, but geez if you have a battleship and they the phalanx think what the AI must be thinking.... "Bloody human, always plays me on Chiefton level. Here we go
I've played and won MoM before and always wondered about this: Did anyone find it strange that the AI always seemed to have a huge number of armies compared with you? I remember looking at the power display graph and my wizard was always puny. And the issue was always food. You couldn't get enough food to support armies of the size the AI had, and so you were always a target of the AI because you were puny. I think each town could support generally up to around 4 units

The random chance of which primary and secondary stat you get in Heroes V can put a pole in your spokes but that just means that you can't hope for things to go a certain path but have to be prepared to adjust. The A.I is useless at choosing secondary skills so you got an advantage either way.
Actually the quote is from another thread. &nbs
I started this discussion https://forums.elementalgame.com/374935 but wanted to put this idea here. For a competitive game throughout introduce a concept of a world seeking balance. The idea is that the "world" has a form of conciousness and it wants no winners. For the world, the game must continue. And so what it strives to do is if one player is making achievements towards a victory the other players will find they can do some things easier, like research, casting sp
Reloading? So you lost a combat you thought to win, became angry and reloaded? No problem for me, it worked both ways. HOMM5 levelling could be annoying depending upon what you wanted and what you got. How about visiting witches huts in HOMM3? That was a pain, hiring a dupe to go see if the witch had a winner or a dud. Whatever you don't like you could mod to be different. Why don't you say what you want instead of saying what you do

I would hesitate to use Wikipedia as a source on anything related to the AGW debate. Quoting MichaelCook, reply 1165CO2 + H2O ---> H2CO3 Carbonic Acid. Yes Bicarbonate is formed as well (as a result of Carbonic Acid formation H2CO3 + H2O ---> HCO3- + H3O+ ), I would need to find the equ

Thinking on it, having a system like in Stars! where detection lessens the further away you are would work only with static detectors (like cities, outposts and roads) because then players would feel like having to move individual units everywhere to maximise detection, and that would be dull and a chore, even with AI assistance in setting up patrols. I still think this would be a good idea, especially in multiplayer a good fog or war and stealth system would be very fu

There are significant prohibitions on brush clearing in my state, which means a great deal of dry brush builds up every summer, and every summer a fire or two starts. And would you prefer "sustainable growth"? Growth is growth, and sooner or later you will hit the limits. Our only real option is
I agree with the OP. Would fighting units be all male/ all female, or a mixture of men and women? Perhaps allow the user to choose. Ultimately does it matter if units are mixed or not? Its only a game. Don't change stats between male and female units, it gets too complicated, make it a cosmetic difference only.
As a mortal keeping your glorious leader out of sight may be a wise thing to do, especially if they are weak. Has anybody played Chaos Overlords? Its a kinda card game, but not really, and its very good. Basically you (technically your gang) are represented as a card and if that card is eliminated then its game over. So in Chaos Overlords you make some stealth gear to make it hard for the opposition to find you. Of course the opposition does the opposite, they make dete
Very true and correct. However polution is not AGW. Polution is a problem, and should be dealt with. but we are being distracted by the shysters (Al Gore, Rajendri Pachauri) into believing their money making agenda. If we locked up both of them (and their cohorts) and concentrated on the problem we would probably be able to solve it. But not as long as we are chasing fairies.
&n

Well, I am sure glad that you are not one of those 'consumers', but someone that takes it seriously enough to rid yourself of all those polluting items in your life - except for your computer, that is (and your electricity, heat, air conditioning, and everything else that makes you so comfy).<

That way, your sovereign could pretend die, but in reality retreat to a hidden city and regroup. This gives some potential for epic comebacks.
Also, how about decoys? So when the assassin strikes he says "Duped!, by a magically animated store mannequin!"
Tough call. If the AI is smart..... Yes If the battle AI was like in Medieval 2 Total War.... No For me it would depend on the AI, will it be willing to take "safe" risks to get the advantage as a human would and know when the risk becomes too great? I'd hate to play a game where multiple competitors died in the early game due to pushing the limits.
Wonderful post, but there's absolutely no rational reason to make a sugar substitute illegal for doing less than sugar itself does. It's status as a carcinogen isn't even real. It doesn't cause bladder stones in people even at such high levels like it does rats. it's why Saccharin is still legal in this country. The reverse is true in most countries. Saccharin is illegal for no reason and Cyclamate
I've been thinking of two extremes, military vs magic, and how to utilise their respective production bases (troops for military and research for magic). Military production seems simple, get some people and give them sticks to poke with. It seems similar to Master of Magic, the town has a base production and it determines the speed of creation, buildings speed it up or allow better arms or mythical steeds, or whatever. Magic in Master of Magic is

I had a waking thought about Elemental this morning. I don't know if that is good or not. Talk of the end game being cool because the possibility for any player (Human or AI) to make a comeback will be included. I'm thinking then will I be able to take on the hardest AI, make no headway in the early-mid game and then WHAM!, kick ass for an endgame victory? (yes, I know that a victory will always occur at the end of the game :) ) If the endgame wil
