Our problem in the US is that if I have a 320 ping to you, and you're in the US as well, our game is going to have issues. Ping to other countries being slow is fine, but ping within the same region usually means they have very limited upload bandwidth.

I like the idea of soldiers having seperate experience amounts with different forms of equipment, as well as general soldier training. The thought that you could equip your pikemen with swords to go dungeon crawling, then pull their pikes back out to deal with some incoming calvary. The good system scares me a bit, because it sounds like it will be overwhelming. But as long as Frogboy's terrifying AI can be scaled down to my level, I'm okay with that. :)
That's an interesting point, Oscenitor. But fixing the towers doesn't fix the problem. By that same token, it is imbalanced that you can hold onto the HP flag and push the towers for the gold mine flag, whereas the other side is stuck pushing the cooldown flag. I haven't noticed a significant change in balance from the HP/Mana flag, and I like the ability to push the gold mine flag. Maybe this just means the mana flag needs a bit of a boost?
On the Demigod front, give the demo a try. Zig's right, it does have a strong action RPG influence in how your hero unit gets stronger and you select abilities, but it definately is nothing like Morrowind, Diablo, or any other RPG game. It plays more like a class based FPS, where you are fighting to control a few key points on the field.
I'm with ZehDon. And games with experienced gamers on both sides usually go longer. And while getting, say, mageslayer instead of giants is usually a bad call, getting it after, or at the same time, is pretty common.
After doing some research, I figured out what I really liked about Lords of Magic: - The turn indicator. Knowing it was Death's turn and not knowing if Balkoth was going to fly over and kill you. - Heroes vs. Army units, where one army unit indicated four actual units. - The Battle Results screen, showing who was killed and what was won. - The land really having different feels. Life's land was all green and happy, Fire's land was scortched, e
Thanks for taking the time again this month to answer more questions. :)
Also make sure that you have Impulse's See Beta Releases option checked.
I was in the same boat - looking for a new RTS to tide me over, and this is what lead me to Stardock. I was an addict of Starcraft and Warcraft 3, and played a bunch of other RTS titles along the way. Once Sup Com 2 and Starcraft 2 come out I'll be in heaven, but until then I've looked at: - AOE 3 was a lot of fun single player, but the graphics are a little dated now. - Company of Heroes is a great RTS, but after a
Same problem. If I save a game, I can load the same game fine. If I make a game, then load a different game, I can see the cities, but its as if the world map from the first game is still showing ontop of the other map. If I quit out completely and load a game, I can't see the cities, but they are still there.
Make sure you make it very clear both that the loss doesn't count under the 3 minute mark, and give them step by step instructions on how to hit the button. What bugs me more is when Its 3v1+2 AI, and about five minutes in the guy is complaining that we are feeding on the AI.
Listen to pacov. :) Version 1.19 is supposed to come out on Tuesday, Frogboy said that they would be doing a rehash of the stats, but I don't think we're up for a stat reset quite yet. My suggestion is try to make friends with everyone as you play. I know my group doesn't mind a bad player with or against them, so long as they're fun to play with.
Glad you had some fun. :) I'll be around Monday, if you want, for some Rook training! There are some great guides around the forums, but here are some quick tips for beginners: 1. Health stack! You need all the +HP items you can get. Nimoth's, Blood of the Fallen, and Unbreakable boots are great for starters. 2. You're slow, and thus easily killed(gankable). On Cataract, don't tread much past the halfway point unless you have a fr
Stardock has been more than forgiving up until now for criticizing posts and trolling. They made it quite clear they were fed up, and said they would start just banning offenders. I very much doubt your friend brought anything to light that had not been discussed to death already.
I just played a really close 2v2 Against Bier_Kanonier and iamKira with my mate Sarmis. It was a fair and square premade match, and we managed to pull ahead at the end by getting giants first and capture locking their po
Just pre-ordered, hope I get my invite soon :)
Just pre-ordered, looking forward to some beta shinanigans! Somehow Capitalism 2 made it into my cart, to hold me over until I get registered for the beta. ;)
Based on the build Frogboy is using in those screen shots, I can tell already that Stardock is going to lose to PC Gamer.
Ohh, nice job Stardock! Another case of how your reach among multiple areas helps increase awareness.
Pacov, you're not allowed to go anywhere else. You're needed here. ~ This isn't the game you're looking for.~
Those are too low resolution. The top logo only barely covers 150% of my 1920x1080 monitor. What gives? ;) They look great! And I agree with cleflar, if theres a chance of getting a rune dictionary, we could make some sweet custom team/race banner images prior to release. Will there be any way to drop a custom flag/some such into elemental? Can we get some sample dimensions so we can start screwing around?
I really, really enjoyed the first Tropico. I missed out on the second one, but I'm glad it has a third installment worth looking forward to. A huge time for game sequels coming up, with Supreme Commander 2, Starcraft 2, Diablo 3, Majesty 2, Bioshock 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Resident Evil 5, Max Payne 3, Doom 4, Demigod 1.2, Crysis 2, Dues Ex 2, Mass Effect 2, and Dirt 2 all slated to be released in the next year. Nevermind the new IPs on the table, like Ender's Game Battl
I think this has been a huge learning experience for all involved - including us as consumers. They talked before about how their policy before was to lock posts instead of censoring users. Frogboy said that he got a lot of requests at PAX for them to "bring the hammer down"on the trolls in the forums. I think in the future we'll see more post deletions/user posting bans, and fewer thread locks, which will make the community as a whole a cheerier place. EDIT: B
I've never seen the #demigodgame channel that lively. The #demigod-live channel was the same concept, and suffered from lack of traffic. I like the idea, but I don't think that there are enough players that chat at any one time to make it a worthwhile time investment. Once the ready to play thing gets going, that will probably be our main solution.
I'd imagine that razing a city has multiple effects, which should be kept distinct. A lot of the talk is saying that razing a city that should not be taken lightly, which I agree. But it has a lot of side effects, some of which can be positive, depending on the situation: 1. The empire that had the city is weakened. 2. The enemies of that empire are happy that it is weaker. 3. The allies of that empire are mad that you hurt their ally.
