As of today, as a public service to maintain order in the Troll Ladder, because of the overuse of threads trolling suggestions of ultimate OP buffing skills, or nerfing ultimates to the land of never-never, such threads are now OFFICIALLY exempt from giving the troll wanabees any Frodo biscuits. Instead, all you will get are 'I look-at-you-sideways-with-contempt' japoticons ¬¬ and a 'Ryat-Attention-Whore+Forever-Alone' combo badge of shame. You ca

It is odd actually. But there is not a snowball's chance in hell that the devs will implement PDS in Sins. Perhaps Sins2. A mod maybe?

I OFFICIALLY disapprove this UNNOFFICIAL troll list for its BIAS AND BLATANT INCOMPLETENESS. Mecha-Lenin's blatant attempt to place himself as the King Of Trolls™ By not placing himself on the troll list while finger-pointing everyone else as Lesser Trolls™ is obvious and lame, which therefore is a demerit which must cause him to fall at least 2 steps in the Trolldom Ladder. It would also be a good time to officialize what's hot and what's n

'Using a quad-core' is not of much help regarding Sins, as it is a single-threaded game. CPU speed is the important factor. As long as you have at least 4GB RAM, so that the game can use 2GB and leave the other 2+ for the OS. As said before, a huge map with thousands of ships per player puts a lot of pressure on the CPU. Good excuse for that Ivy Bridge goodness. I wonder what are the graphics settings to make Sins playable on the Intel HD 4000 GPU?

Let's say a marzabomb or BRB obliterates a fleet. If there is a KPS counter in the game, it should be possible to trigger an audio track to take over or overlay the background music. Such a counter could actually be a small array, or set of counters for 1,2,5,10,15 and 30 seconds. What's the point? To add special victory anthems to decorate these events. Could also be used in non-cosmetic stuff as well of course. Cue 'trololo song' mod on steamrolling the

So it uses the axe to hack off the pinkie finger of little children and make a meat 'pinkie' pie? That's cruel. It is also fruitless and futile as a corrective attempt to stop children from picking their noses, since they use the index finger for that anyways.

I am not even sure there is anything to be fixed. The flagship allows for a faster game opening, since it is an awesome tank. As game progresses its relevance at the front line diminishes, and then it has to be guarded to avoid losing the game. It make the game start at a faster pace, and makes the dynamics more interesting, since different strategies are needed at different stages of the gameplay. If anything, making the flagship more maneuverable and faster would help its su

I would prefer to make a poll, if the forum provided such a tool. I think it's a given that on any strategy game with the scope of SOASE, that there will be bug-and-balance fixes after release. Regardless, do you think it would be fruitful to have at least one more round of beta testing before release, even if it means delaying the release date by 1~2 weeks or more? I vote for YES.
Bear in mind, that the tactics I just laid out are the very basic form of that strategy. It can easily be refined and toughened by a considerable degree. Such as Starbase placement. Maker sure it's close to other structure to force enemy units in range of starbase to do any damage of any kind. Placing about 5 turrets around starbase at a certain distance to give incoming ogrovs another target while bombers weaken and

Yes, but late-game ogrov spam still shreds the SB down too fast. They need to be a little bit sturdier on late-game (level 7-8 techs). They dont last long enough for a defense fleet to do 2 jumps for the rescue.
The tractor beam and especially the teleport sounds cool. Granted they must not be able to counter their counters effectively, but a little help to fend off attacks which are NOT dedicated efforts in late game (and then only) could work out. But alas, this close to to release any conceptual musings let alone a proper implementation of such major changes are somewhat moot. Call me pessimistic but beside a few major Va

I am not proposing to have SB counter its own counter. I think it should be buffed a bit on the late-game phase to make it a little bit stronger. Even if you get a standby fleet on your defensive perimeter, it is likely that it will have to jump 1-2 gravwells, and the SB should have a little more survivability until they arrive. That's what I want. How do you do that? With high-tier techs, and SB upgrades. Adding SB upgrades is only possible by freeing up one upgrade slot,

13 Replies 8,339 Views

I think starbases should have some means to have better survivability in late game. They are too much of a sitting duck (except for Vasari), and now that the AI is smart enough to spam Ogrovs and starfishes, it should have means to at least delay the steamroll a bit until you can get a fleet in the gravwell. Problem 1: all slots in the upgrade/skill panel are occupied. Proposed solution: Move the trade ports upgrade to a technology which automatically grants it, at levels 6-8.

13 Replies 8,339 Views

The idea is that no single gameplay element should overpower everything else (beta imbalances notwhithstanding). Ogrovs are THE counter for starbases. You should have better defenses in place to compensate its weakness. More hangars and repair bays for instance. MS at level 2.

Goofy is an anthropomorfized dog, but the demotion of Pluto is seen by many as Goofy. Although Pluto is a pet owned by an anthropomorfized mouse - Mickey - but Goofy is independent and is seen as a person with all rights a person would have. People's affection for the underdog (in this case undermouse) has always been in humanity, since at least David and Goliath, so Mickey has as an arch-nemesis an anthropomorfized cat, Pete (aka Black Pete or Peg-Leg Pete). Cats ar
Remember it launches on the 12 of June.
I for one won't care if they delay it to late August or *whenever it's ready* if it means they will squash teh stability bugs and improve the game balance. Better yet, it seems the game is too far away from completion, I even advocate a delay, rather than have the game released in a not-so-good state.
